  1. Matt Brown played in District 8-5a with Rex Burkhead. Allen beat Plano 2 years in a row with a state championship in his junior year. He's for real and quite a stud.
  2. Rex was his biggest nightmare in those rivalry games. Especially when Rex played QB. It's a shame Jackson didn't play for Plano Senior High though.
  3. Lache watched Rex Burkhead score 6 touchdowns against his team 2 years ago. Lache was the talk before the game and Rex was all the talk after. Temple fans were lined for autographs from Rexy. Lache is a Bad Mo FO!!!
  4. I think you'd better keep one eye on A&M. Could be NU and A&M in the Big 12 Championship game.
  5. I don't get why they won't show Suh eating Texas' quarterback for breakfast in any of the highlight reels. I mean are they really that much in bed with Texas that they can't show Suh kicking Colt's a$$. It can't be that sensitive. I'm sure even Colt could understand. I mean there is no one else who experienced Suh first hand more than he did.
  6. Wow! Wow! Wow! All I have to say is being at the Big 12 Championship game and watching his amazing performance, he deserves every last one of the awards...including the Heisman. Way to go Big Suh!!!
  7. I couldn't agree with you more. He can be very explosive and slashes with the best of them. I'm not calling for Burkhead to be the man right now, I just know that he can be.
  8. I just think he's way way over-rated. He's too small to smash people like Rozier and Phillips and guys like that did. He can't block either because he's too small. He does not have a great burst of speed needed to outrun the defense or bust thru a small hole. Helu's a little better but not much. And with Burkhead's small size he's gonna get injured over and over again as he has already shown. Sorry but we need somebody way better, bigger, stronger and faster than that dude... Sorry dude, but your speakin crazy talk...don't talk about things when you haven't even begin to see what he is capable of. They ran him 9 times on a draw when the defense new exactly what was coming. He managed to get 55 yards and a td to put the game away. Put him out in space and he will show you what he is capable of. I promise he will prove you so wrong over the next 3 years...and maybe even this Sat.
  9. I think Burkhead will have you all eating crow...he is so much more than a runningback...when they start lining him up in the slot and screen passes, you will see the kind of player he can be. Your not giving much credit to a kid who comes in every now and then when Helu needs a rest. Everyone will tell that a back likes to get into a rhythm. Not to mention that they called 9 draws up the middle the other night. I'd say it was a stellar performance to go 55 yards on nine plays and cap it with a touchdown. I might even say he was the reason Nebraska kept the game out of reach. Without that drive things were pretty close in the rearview mirror. Once Watson starts using Rex the right way you will all see. I believe Helu was quoted as saying "Rex has the best hands on the whole football team. Sounds like a bright future to me.
  10. The problem is we need them in the backfield to protect the QB, and can't use them on pass routes effectively. A screen every now and ahain especially when they have a corner bltz called like yesterday. That was eating us up all day long and a Rex whiff turning into a screen could have been the answer. I agree 100%...Rex is a monster on screens and has very sure hands...put him space and watch what happens. Yeah, he's strong up the middle but deadly as a slot receiver or on a screen. I too would like to see more of that.
  11. He doesn't whiff on his pass blocks...I saw him upend two guys yesterday resulting in a first down and a touchdown. Like I said before...that is the main reason he sits at the number 2 spot....it's because he understands the assignments better than the other guys.
  12. Someone spelled his name Wrecks the other day....I like that one
  13. He whiffed once dude...the other 2 he picked up resulted in a first down and a touchdown. Watch the game again. Oh, and I wouldn't call it a whiff, that guy just put a good move on him. BTW, it is exactly the pass blocking assignments that moved him into the number two slot. He's damn good at it.
  14. Come on people, really??? Burkhead is as good as it gets when fightin for what you need and that's yards. He may not be ready to take Helu's spot but he just got here and you're talkin about it...says somethin about that tough s.o.b. I know I was jumpin around today talkin about his toughness. Last week people were saying he's not 100%. Well, I guess they were WRONG!!!
  15. Yeah, one...the other two he blocked got a huge first down and a touchdown...go back and watch the tape. That is why he is ahead of everyone else.
  16. I said it before and I'll say it again...I knew he would make a difference right away. Happy to see him healthy and anyway, if he was only 90% it wouldn't matter cause he plays every down with 110% effort. That makes 100%!!! So looking forward to the coming years and can't wait to see him live next Sat. at Jerry world.
  17. I for one am extremely excited for him to be back. In knowing Rex, he is one tough SOB and I don't think the coaches would make the mistake of throwin' him back in the there just to do it. He is far to valuable to the future of the team to make that mistake. However, I guarantee you if he is playing than he is 100% ready and in shape to do so. With all of the backs that have been playing and the success of the running game, I don't feel they would rush him back unless he was totally ready. Aside from one stuff on a kickoff return in the VA Tech game, I would say Rex has been pretty electric every time he's touched the ball. Look at his yards per carry. Pretty impressive for a tf. I hope to get passed this weekend and let Suh and the boys put McCoy on his a$$ all day long. GO BIG REX oh um I mean RED!!!
  18. That's because all you need is a hard nosed, football smart, sob that is gonna work his butt off to win what ever it takes. That is all he knows and that is why every football player around him feeeeeeds off of him. He is as hard core as anyone you have ever seen. This is focus....this is dedication....this is warrior....this is NEBRASKA FOOTBALL FROM NOW ON!!!
  19. Can't even believe to tell you how happy I am for the recruit they call Rex. That boy can down right play football and there is no one that can say any different. I thought it would be a while before I could mention Mr. Burkhead but it seems he is starting his legend as a true freshman.
  20. Trying hard not to gush about a kid who hasn't played a snap of D-1 ball yet, but dang....... Well, it appears that Rex has taken over the number 2 spot at the moment due to Castille's removal from the team. I hate to see someone kicked off as it effects the whole team but I am happy for Rex none the less.
  21. Well, it sounds like Mr. Burkhead is making his way up the ladder. I'm hearing legendary things coming out of Nebraska news. Tear it up Rex!!!
