  1. Dont forget Dejon Gomes Doh. How could I overlook Gomes! Good call!
  2. Teams I want NU to play? I like to see us play: Wisconsin, Iowa and Penn State: All top notch programs, might become rivalries. Michigan: Great historical program, even thought they suck right now. Illinois: Selfish reason——would be the closest game for me to drive to. Purdue: I’ve just always liked Purdue. Thought about going there to undergrad. As for Ohio State——Great team, but tOSU just doesn't excite me for some reason. Maybe I have an undiagnosed aversion to sweater vests. I’d rather meet them in the conf championship. And since I’d prefer Ohio State in the other division, I would want Michigan in the other division also—so as not to break up the tOSU/MU rivalry. /jmho
  3. IMHO the man is an iconic fool. I respect anybody for having the success he has had in life, but beyond that I can't stand the man. It isn't bad for an analyst/host to have a varying opinion on a topic, but he is brutish and arrogant when he gives an opinion, similar to Mark May but not quite as bad. Aw come on. How can you dislike a guy who stands behind his pick so much that he puts on the mascot head on national TV. Good entertainment! Ha ha!
  4. We’ve had pretty good luck with juco DBs in the past——Zack Bowman, Andre Jones, Armando Murillo and Larry Asante. I expect we’ll see Stafford carry on the Blackshirt tradition as well.
  5. Me too. NU/UT may be the most likely game of the season to get Gameday. they are talking about it incessantly on the espn family of networks. they know how big it is, and it is largely hyped up because of them. I guess espn needs something to fill the void of not hyping USC 24/7. But I'm okay with the NU hype. For a change.
  6. Anyone else find it ironic that Mizzou's catch phrase "Get Money!" is based on Derrick Washington getting his hands on the ball. But now the guy gets booted off the team because he put his hands (fingers) where they don't belong?
  7. Nice little blurb about Aaron in Rivals.
  8. All in all, a pretty good article. Interesting little snippet above about the AD job and Dollar Bill Byrne.
  9. Chase Rome is big enough for TWO threads. I'm hoping to see him play. The guy graduated from HS early and had been training with the team for nine months. If he's ready, I like to see him on the field!
  10. 87skers, I agree with the consensus here that proposing in front of the 80,000 on the Jumbotron is perhaps not a very good idea. Here’s what I suggest: Make a reservation at the nicest restaurant in town. Go there in advance to make the reservation in person, and tell them your plans for a marriage proposal. Ask for a table in a private, but nice, location. When you invite her out make up a cover story about celebrating something else (e.g., lie and tell her you won $5,000 in the lottery--she will forgive you for the lie). Arrange champagne to be brought to the table for after dinner drinks. Wait until after dinner to pop the question. Don’t plan out a long speech. Just a clever quip to set it up. Do it on bended knee. (She will tell the ‘bended knee’ proposal story a thousand times to all her friends.) Oh, and spend a little more on the ring than you think you can afford. It's a good investment. Good luck!
  11. Man this sucks. Strasburg was the best thing to come along in baseball for a looong time.
  12. Good call on Baptiste, especially since no option to take RS year. I've been fawning over WH for, well, since we signed him. And he's done nada so far. But THIS could be the year he SHINES!!
  13. "General A.P. Hill. The Story of a Confederate Warrior" James Robertson, Jr.
  14. 1. Niles Paul. Dude is a stud. 2. Brandon Kinnie I could see him maybe overtaking Niles as our goto guy. 3. Curenski Gilleylen. Gets bumped lower is he still drops balls. 4. Will Henry. 6’5” height for corner fades. 5. Khiry Cooper. Baseball distractions. 6. Mike McNeil. What is he now, a small TE or a slow WR? Bad move to move him. OR 6. Quincy Enunwa. Can’t remember many true frosh WRs getting PT.
  15. Ha ha! Great story. Just make sure the NU sign is a couple inches taller than the OU sign.
  16. Corso. Ha ha! Gotta love the guy. Either he is saying this just to tweak Herbstreit. Or Corso is flashing back 15 years. But I hope's he's right.
  17. Ha ha!! LOL. Funniest. Post. Evar. :laughpound :laughpound
  18. What I said above about Washington being back before Big 12 play--uh, well, maybe not. I didn't know it was a "digital" infraction.
  19. although these divisions are slightly "nuanced", you nailed it in my book. as long as NU plays Iowa, Minn., Wisc., and PSU every year, i'll be happy. for the foreseeable future, OSU will have an easy road to the championship. hopefully they would have to play PSU in their cross-divisional rivalry and NU could play indiana as theirs. the other thing, i would not mind switching PSU with a team from the other division, if they would be our cross-divisional rival. that way the divisions would be a little more even, but we would still have a pretty exciting, entertaining schedule. the problem is that right now there will be 5 pretty strong teams, and that is hard to split evenly, they would be; NU, Iowa, Wisc., PSU, and OSU. Thats terrible...honestly. Simple math that everyone has agreed to. There are 6 powerhouses in the Big Ten...3 will be in each division. And if it was going to be 4 in one and 2 in the other why would you want the Huskers to be with the 4 and have the far east and west teams in the same division? Hoping you were joking i was not. osu is stable and strong (top 5 team). iowa, psu, and wisconsin are strong, but top 15-25 teams on average. who knows what will happen to psu when jopa leaves. hopefully from now on NU will be perennially 5-15, if not higher. michigan is way down and who knows when they will get back up. the cross-divisional game will help keep it even. what is this simple math that everyone has agreed to? i do not think i have agreed to it. also, you must really hate cu, it is too bad we may never play them again. Here is my rational. I would say there are four powerhouse teams crucial to balancing the divisions: Ohio State, Nebraska, Penn State and Michigan. Sure, Michigan is down right now. But they’ll be back. Someday. Of these four, I think you need two in each division. And the tOSU/MU rivalry should be preserved just as it is. Or we'll be hearing sob stories for the next 50 years. As for Iowa and Wisconsin, I’d say these two are rock solid programs on the verge of being powerhouses. But maybe just a notch below powerhouses. And I think Iowa/Wisconsin need to stay in the same division if possible. They been playing each other for over 100 years. As for the other six, I don’t think it will affect the strength of the divisions much to mix and match them in any particular manner. Minnesota, Michigan State, Illinois and possibly Purdue all show glimmers of greatness, mixed with streaks of football sucktitude. Northwestern appears to be headed up under Fitzgerald, just as they were under Barnett. This too will pass. Indiana football, well, they pretty much suck. Nicely played sd'sker. Ha ha!
  20. *bump* Interesting comment about Chase Rome by Brian Christopherson in the LJS blog today (a comment under the Quincy Enunwa story). I thought Rome was a lock to play this year. Sounds like it's iffy though.
  21. Maybe. But "indefinitely" = before Big 12 play. I'd bet money on it.
  22. Yeah, Helu clearly has the talent. It's just a matter of whether or not he can stay healthy. If he plays the whole season we'll see him playing Sundays next year for sure.
  23. Dang. I was hoping to get some tips on hazing.
  24. Fired? Solich quit to take a better job. Ask a stupid question. Get a stupid answer.
