  1. Yes. But hard to say whether he'd take it. He may be the most versatile O-lineman we have. Certainly the most experienced. But he probably would not start next year if he came back. Even if Mike does not return, we owe him a huge debt of gratitude. The guy has done everything asked of him through a pretty rough patch in Husker history.
  2. I might get reamed for this but IMHO FSU was the better team that night. Yes - the plays mentioned above were bad calls and maybe the Skers should have won...but I still think FSU was the better team. Don't kill me Huskerboard!!! Don't worry this isn't Shaggybevo or Orangebloods where they eat their own over there. You can have an opinion and not get slammed for it. Hard to say whether NU or FSU was the better team. But if those two bad calls had gone the other way NU would have another trophy in the trophy case. Probably.
  3. Sometimes we get bad calls. Sometimes we get gifts. I guess is all balances out in the end. But that 1994 OB against Fla State for the MNC——it didn’t seem to balance out for us. We had over 100 yds in penalties in that championship game. Two particularly egregious calls come to mind: The *highly* suspect late hit 15 yard call against Barron Miles which helped put FSU in position to kick the winning field goal with less than a minute to go. This call may have cost us the trophy. The phantom clipping penalty on Corey Dixon’s 71 yd punt return TD in the first quarter.
  4. Bell's at corner. I'm still not sure why he moved. If he's not a good blocker I naturally doubt if he's physical enough to bring down receiver that are bigger and taller than him. Might be a good thing we have him at CB. What, with all the guys dropping like flies due to fall camp injuries.
  5. Well, okay. But *this* time lets use a conventional sized football field.
  6. Or maybe Rice would be good. Like the nerdy brainiac in the fraternity who raises the house GPA.
  7. Why? Why do conferences feel compelled to have a number in their name? Why not the "Pac Conference"? Or maybe the "Pac-plus-two-mountain-schools-and-two desert-schools-Conference"?
  8. We've got a pretty good group of backs in Helu, Burkhead and Robinson. Best we've had in years.
  9. *bump* So has Bell be practicing with the DBs? What spot? How's he look?
  10. Funny stuff. Also funny that the Hawkeyes got their panties in a bunch over this.
  11. Yeah, Adi will be invited to camp, and may get signed. No way he gets drafted though. Henery will get drafted. But he better not have his draft party until day 2.
  12. Perhaps. But I think it's likely that the two you mentioned above--Shaun Mohler and Doug Rippy--both have second thoughts about bailing on NU to become Buffies. NU has had a need at LB the past couple of years, so they both would have been in the mix. That, and CU has pretty much sucked the whole time they've been there. Players like being on TV, going to bowl games and winning trophies. And playing in front of a crowd instead of empty seats. /jmho
  13. Yeah, O-line depth. This is something I’m curious about. But we probably won’t know until we have a couple of games under our belt. The first depth chart usually has a lot of "or" alternates listed at those second spots.
  14. THis happened in Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texass. So even if the guy wasn't a typical stupid Texican, he was stupid nonetheless.
  15. David Overstreet, Mizzou SS. The guy was on the field a LOT, and played forever. After redshirting.
  16. Maybe I’m foolish but I’m just not that worried about Washington. Sure, Jake Locker blah blah blah, I know. But the strengths of our defense are our D-line and defensive backs. The Blackshirts can handle Locker. I am a little worried about playing in Husky Stadium. But we’ve played in loud, hostile environments before. And done just fine. I think we roll over the Huskies on their home turf. Gimme another swig O that Kool-Aid!!
  17. He really is pretty talented. Yeah. He’ll be drawing an NFL salary if he can just stay out of trouble for a year or so. I guess I can't understand why everyone is so negative on the guy. He's just trying to get a second (third?) chance to play ball.
  18. Dang. Blue has tons of potential. Could easily have been a starter by now. Just crappy bad luck.
  19. No. We have enough QBs on our roster, including commits. But I can’t understand why everyone nationwide is making such a big deal over Masoli. He’s just a rowdy punk with a wild streak. It’s not like he is the Charles Manson of college football.
  20. QB – Lee; Green, IB – Helu; Burkhead xWR – Kinnie; K. Cooper zWR – Paul; Gilleylen TE – McNeil; Young/Cotton RT – Marcel Jones; D.J. Jones RG – Henry; Ash OC – Caputo; Pensick (Ash maybe?) LG – Williams; Qvale LT – Sirles; Hardrick RE – Allen; Ankrah DT – Crick; Randle DT – Moore; Steinkuhler LE – Meredith; Williams LB – Lavonte/Compton LB – Whaley; May PB – Hagg; Cassidy(??) LCB – Amukamara; West RCB – Dennard; Thorell SS – Thenarse; Smith FS – Gomes; Osborne A couple of wild-assed guesses in here (#2 peso??; #2 center). I'm guessing we move someone new into the backup center spot. Also, this is assuming we go with a traditional RG/LG offense, and not the cutting edge double LG formation. :-)
  21. Two considerations here--intrusive media coverage and Bo ruling the journalists with an iron hand. The media coverage is intrusive because rabid fans demand it. But players come to NU because of the rabid fans. You can’t have one without the other. Bo rules the media with an iron hand because that’s how Bo gets things done. That’s how he got NU turned around from our lackadaisical ways of three years ago. Do we really want a softer, more gentle Bo Pelini?
  22. You realize of course that this is all Nebraska's fault. And the NU realignment also caused global warming.
