I think QC getting booted from the team qualifies as a "surprise."

I never said it was unheard of, but for scholarship football players this is quite rare. Now if you can cite me some evidence to the contrary I'll take a gander at it. I believe that Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino is setting his players up for massive failure. There's a reason why most colleges and universities only have about a 50%, (+ or - 10%) athletic graduation rate. It is hard enough just to try and graduate in four years as an average student. You throw into the mix the time required to play football, or any other varsity sport for that matter, at a major D-1A school on top of that--completely unrealistic expectations.

James, The loss of Castille does hurt but it's not catastrophic, it's not the end of the world and even though QC was kicked off the team yesterday the sun still rose today. And while I certainly wish QC all the best in the future Bo made the right decision. You break the rules-you suffer the consequences, cut and dried-end of story.

I agree. And, for the coaches, especially Bo Pelini, to speak so highly about an individual player, a true freshman RB to boot, speaks volumes about just how good this kid must be.

1. Prove that TO wasn't consulted. (Crosses arms, taps foot and waits.) 2. Why should Bo, or Castille for that matter, have been "more forthcoming?" What business is it of yours? 3. Prove that Bo made a rash decision and kicked QC off the team for his first minor offense. 4. So Nebraska is the only team which dismisses players for inappropriate conduct? Thus far you've made quite a few accusations with absolutely no substance to back them up.

1. Even Texas has to abide by the 85 total and no more than 25 per year scholarship limits. (Although I'm sure there are people in the state working on finding a way to exempt the Horns from this rule.) 2. Texas fills their next year's recruiting class before the ink on the LOIs of the current class is dry. (It usually works well for them but that means that a lot of great talent, who maybe wanted to play for Texas, has to look elsewhere.) 3. What's even more amazing is that Texas A&M, Oklahoma or Texas Tech didn't nab this kid.

We'll see if you're right soon enough. Edit: I'm a firm believer that Nebraska can never have too many players from Texas on the roster. Nice that we've busted the seal on Texas for this class. That is our biggest state. I don't know what the "seal" is but I completely agree that, recruiting wise, Texas is the most important state for Nebraska.

You're right, that wasn't exactly the most fair comment I could have said, but the fact still remains that he did fumble quite a bit. Will that also be missed? 1. If you want to make an "unfair" comment say all Colorado fans are pedophiles. 2. He did fumble in his freshman year I'll give you that. But I can't recall many fumbles during his sophomore season.

I think the "PlayStation" effect is real. I think there are a lot of Husker fans out there who are around my age, <cough 40 cough> who grew up playing video games, specifically NCAA College Football, and this game has, rather insidiously, skewed their perceptions.

I realize that with the 85 scholarship limit you can't offer everyone... However, I'm just wondering if the Nebraska coaching staff missed out on a gem here. Time will tell. For the record: Frank Solich, or maybe it was the former coach, dropped the ball and missed out on Danny Woodhead. Edit: I only say that with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight.
