  1. This is the type of game that is going to have Mizzou fans and KU fans feeling a little bit ill. "Nebraska....back, but we thought, we thought..." Yea, just keep thinking Tiger and Jayhawk fan. Thinking your going to lose that is...
  2. There is a lot of raw nerves in Husker land right now. A glance into the rear view mirror provides plenty of reasons to feel this way. Since the 2001 CU game, the Huskers have played the victim role in many a beat down. This year is different. I feel a change in the program. Lee is as good as we hoped and I feel the offense is ready to explode. I am also beleiving in Phil Dillard's ability as a veteran player to make some big plays on D, thanks in part to the solid trench work across the D-line. The Blackshirts will get turnovers. What can I say, at this point, I just feel down right confident in the Huskers. It feels good. Va Tech is going to get slammed right in the kisser. Look for a BIG RED runaway. No joke. We are going to be subbing in the fourth quarter on the road against a top 20 team. Believe it. Where the Huskers go from here, I don't know. But the score on this Saturday will be something like 42-14 or 42-17. ROCK
  3. The Huskers have had some busts so far this season, but, as long as they don't give up long touchdown plays, we should be fine. The defense can bend, it just needs to get Tech stopped before it gets into scoring range.
  4. carlfense has got it right here. IF Lester was as good as McKnight, why is he not on the field? Either Coach Watson has something against winning, or, much more likely, Lester is struggling with the playbook or isn't competing well in practice.
  5. We will know more in a week. Wins and great production in weeks one and two against Sun Belt teams show we can pile up yards and score points against outmatched squads from a small conference. Nothing more, nothing less.
  6. This thread has way too many posts. Nebraska doesn't turn it over at all, they win big. Turn it over a lot, then who knows. That about covers it.
  7. The term I-back was never dropped, even though the FB took on a lesser role under BC. I think that staff thought that if they said the RBs were I-backs and then kept Turner around, people would think that tradition was being honored. How lame is that?
  8. How about addressing FAU's smack talk with this movie gem. There's... two kinds of dumb, uh... guy that gets naked and runs out in the snow and barks at the moon, and, uh, guy who does the same thing in my living room. First one don't matter, the second one you're kinda forced to deal with.
  9. Fear is not always rational, and I realize this. Still, there are fears which I can not totally quiet. It's hearing about problems across the offensive line and wondering if we can run well and protect the passer. It's the fear of "under the lights" confusion between the receivers and Lee leading to picks. And, I know that most people just love the heck out of Watson, but it's the fear that he will try to do too much with Lee on Saturday. Please tell me I am a fool and have nothing to worry about. I feel great about our defense, but I can't shake the question marks on offense. Let's face it...a miracle loss ala App State would make our season into a nightmare.
  10. Throw all these numbers out. Michigan State and Troy look to be examples of close games, not blowouts, but, that aside, the Huskers should take care of FAU for the most part on Saturday. If this game goes into the fourth quarter with the lead at two scores or less, then the Huskers are getting off to a rough start.
  11. I don't care about who redshirts and who doesn't, but, at the same time, I would contend that most HS grads don't come in ready to play from a physical standpoint. A year of training and adjustment to football can work wonders for a lot of guys. For a very select few guys, taking a year off makes no sense.
  12. Coach will keep Suh focussed on the task at hand each and every week. He's a very good player and he wants to do well for us. As far as the hype, well, you never know, he might be better than what everyone expects.
  13. Take time to enjoy this week. Football season goes by soooooo fast. Once we get going here it will seem like....WTF, February, where the hell did that come from? Lets get going and have a great season, but, most of all, lets savor every moment. NU football doesn't happen all the time, that's for sure.
  14. THis is the danger of having beat writers getting one on ones with the coaches every time you turn around during preseason camp. The coach's mood varies based on a number of factors. When the come into interviews hostile it catches reporters off guard. Bad questions and coach speak follow. Cut the number of interviews down, period. That's the solution. It won't happen, but that is the solution.
  15. First things first....beat FAU, then worry about the next game and so forth. A win over MU won't mean a lot if we are sporting a .500 record when that game rolls around.
  16. You're right, there are way to many screen plays in the playbook....no doubt. I HATE SCREEN PLAYS.
  17. All this boils down to an issue of trust. Fans have to trust that Pelini is fairly applying these team rules and that every player is made aware of all rules from the start. If recruits hear reasonable rules and believe they can trust Pelini, we won't ever have any issues and we will land talented players every year. If not, Bo will end up with a team that won't play for him. Like I said TRUST is the key word. I am a Husker fan and a Bo fan, so, until otherwise revealed, I believe Bo can be trusted. GBR
  18. The depth chart is usually the biggest news to come out of the weekly press conference every game-week Tuesday during the season.
  19. Watching the Dallas Cowboys open their new stadium and was struck by this question. Can video go too far in a stadium? We all like a little replay of the plays, no question, but when the whole stadium is awash in digital imagery, does it take away from the game atmosphere? The Dallas screen blocked a punt, an event which everyone should have seen coming because of the screen's location. When these screens began, there was one, or two in most stadiums. The Huskers installed two more and ribbon boards in the off season. We now have four screens and massive jumbo-tron and ribbon boards. You couldn't be at the game without being swallowed up by this stuff. I am a big tunnel walk fan, and I know the new screens will enhance the tunnel walk, but have the Huskers gone too far. Granted, none of our screens can interfere with the game from a physical standpoint, but it just seems like a little much at times.
  20. Burkhead is No. 2. Translation....Helu better be ready to carry the rock... a lot
  21. Ok Jen, Ineffective defined. Think Mike Grant. Mr. Grant was indecisive with the ball, did not display confidence and could not run the option. He didn't have any smooth parts to his game. It looked rough and was painful to watch. Oz eventually went to Tommie for some on the job training. Lee would and should be charactorized by fans as ineffective for the following: fumbling the snap, missing open guys, throwing into tight coverage consistenly and holding on to the ball too long. Turnovers, taking a lot of sacks and not putting the ball in the hands of open guys mean the QB is at fault. Sam Keller was ineffective mainly due to his repeated tendency to hold the ball forever and check it down to the back. We all hope this does not happen. The question then becomes what do the coaches do? Do they suffer through the season or do they, like Oz back in the day, go to the freshman.
