  1. I don't disagree with the overall point you are making but the Michigan St. loss was influenced by young. The game was decided by 5 turnovers all committed by freshman. 2 fumbles and a pick by Armstrong, a fumble by Newby and a fumble by Westerkamp. Maybe you weren't considering those problems created by youth but fundamentals problems, but I think it is fair to say that the coaches haven't had as much time to instill those fundamentals in such young players.
  2. Choi was an excellent run blocker but struggled pass blocking. So I think that it is plausible that he would have been able to start multiple years in the 90's.
  3. Moved to live with his Sister, her husband and family I believe. He was trying to escape the many bad influences of his neighborhood. I give props to the man. Had he had a chance to redshirt I could see him really shining next year.
  4. Everyone continues to include Davie when accounting our depth chart, but didn't he have an ACL injury? If so we won't be seeing much from him until late in the season as it was a late season injury and it still takes a while to get back into game shape. I wouldn't count on Davie next year.
  5. The quickest release of any QB we've gotten to campus in recent memory.
  6. IIRC from Starling, I think the draft is in April and he has to decide by June. I'm pretty sure he has later than June to decide. Starling was actually part of our 105 roster for a few days or a week until he made his decision if I remember correctly. Draft is June 5th and he will have until July 18th to decide if he is signing or going to college They have moved that date up quite a bit. In 2011 it was Aug.15th.

  8. He now has MSU and Nebraska listed as HIGH. Maybe with the way our D has turned around we might be surging for him right now. Got to think that next weeks game is going to play a big role.
  9. My goodness this kid has legs like tree trunks but still can explode into the hole ( i know that's what she said). This kid is not getting driven backward at the point of attack. I like him. Sign him up Coach Joseph.
  10. I think it was just a lot of incidental contact on that play. The db was looking back for the ball and both guys were being physical. I didn't catch the facemask at the beginning of the play but if so, yeah that should have been an automatic call. After some of the holding calls that were missed against Northwestern last week I don't know if there is such a thing as an automatic call anymore.
  11. Hoke is so predictable it isn't funny. He's like a Kirk Ferentz with more empty calories. Edited for accuracy. +1 I think he looks like Fred Flintstone I've been trying to figure out who Hoke reminds me of for 3 years. HaHa. You nailed it.
  12. Only the talk of people on here. He is being recruited heavily as a RB and I get the impression all those teams want him right where he is, not to flip to LB. He IS a beast at RB period. He has potentiial to be great at LB but hasn't really showed it in high school.
  13. I doubt he goes early as well but he does lose a lot of experience of his O-line this year. I think his numbers will likely take a dip next year but he will still have a great season. Some guys might make the jump for that reason but he seems like a guy who wants to stay and help his team.
  14. The first part talking about not tackling live in practice is mind blowing. I thought that concern was over and done with when Pelini was hired. The second part where he is talking scheme is pretty poor journalism. It is such a stereotype that you would think that most "journalists" would not make that mistake, but talk about taking sound bites and manipulating them to make your argument. If you start with an agenda your answer in the end is likely going to support your agenda.
  15. I hadn't really considered that. I think you are right about that, at the college level at least.
  16. Actually this situation is akin to a husband and a wife getting in a fight and and then the husband going and venting and saying some really rash things to his buddies that he didn't really mean but it was just the heat of the moment. And then two years later one of those buddies who is secretly trying to get with his friends wife waits until they have another fight and goes to her and plays the audio of her husband from two years before. I would say it is a lot more like that. And I know what i would want to do with that "friend".
  17. I just woke my dogs up laughing at this. They are looking at me like, "Really?" Quality Gif!
  18. I just have this feeling that if we win this one the story from the national media will be that UCLA was not as good as advertised.
  19. Very good article. Liked his writing style. Thanks for the post.
  20. I kinda like it. Haha you would. But seriously I don't have a problem with a poll like this as long as the voter is really paying attention and you are willing to move teams around a lot from week to week depending on actual results. Having a team start high just because of the the previous year and being mostly locked into place despite what is unfolding week to week is just stupid. But as someone else said, it would be better to just have the first ranking in mid-October.
  21. Wisconsin's Depth Chart at DE FWIW DE - 92 Pat Muldoon 6-3, 269, SR. 51 Tyler Dippel 6-4, 270, SR. DE - 87 Ethan Hemer 6-6, 285, SR. 91 Konrad Zagzebski 6-3, 278, RS JR.
  22. I can't help but wonder if he saw all the young talent on the DL and thought to himself that he would likely have to wait a long time to get on the field. I think it is going to be difficult to recruit for the front 7 this year for that reason. Not that we can't find kids who don't care about that but they are going to have to be the right kind of kids to commit into that kind of situation. If he were to have committed and was better than any of the DL already here, Pelini would play him. This mythical "depth chart getting in the way" excuse is tired. I don't know what made you assume I am making an excuse. You honestly believe kids don't look at depth charts? I have heard too many kids interviewed who say that they chose a school for that exact reason. Obviously some kids believe that no one can be better than them. Other kids are more realistic and understand that very very few freshman DLineman end up playing nationally. Some might look at a guy like Gregory and a guy like McMullen who will be here for 2 and 3 more years respectively and and think "I don't know if I am going to see the field as much and as quickly as I would like here." Granted I have no inside knowledge of Blackwood that let's me know how he feels about it, but I promise you it will affect some Dlineman we recruit.
  23. I'm a little worried about that as well. The Bruin poster in one of the other threads mentioned how extremely young they are, so I'm hoping a raucous crowd can rattle them a bit for the first few series. Maybe we can take advantage early. Recent history says otherwise though.
  24. Thanks. And and welcome to HuskerBoard!
