  1. I never even referenced the Dalton hit. I said Suh lays down crushing hits on a regular basis. And I definitely stand by that statement. I'm saying the response by the NFL and the fine levied is more a result of the fact that the NFL has ex-players shivering like leaves on trees in November all over the country and less a direct response to the severity of the hit itself. Personally, I prefer defense to offense. I HATE the rules in the NFL that limit big hits and stout defense. They're even trying to take kickoff returns out of the equation in the professional game at this point. I dunno if your post was in response to mine, but I sure as hell don't want to give the impression that I'm a fan of excising the friggin soul out of the game by eliminating hard hits and physicality. I'm just saying that guys are, you know, getting delirious and demented in their late 40's and shooting themselves in the face and stuff. And that's probably an issue the NFL is taking into consideration when they clamp down on guys like Harrison and our legend out of Lincoln. That has nothing to do with why the NFL is protecting the QB. It is about protecting the owner's large investments in QB's. It has everything to do with money and nothing to do with the player's well-being.
  2. But if you believe #2, you are the equivalent of a Husker fan who believes Tom Osborne never did anything wrong. And sadly, we know that's not the case. Don't ever talk about Tom that way!!! . Yeah I still firmly believe that Tom knew all about the steroid use at Nebraska...so I think he looked the other way on a few things to win. They could go to every top university and bust them all for violations if the NCAA wanted to. That's why I call the NCAA bipolar. One minute things are cool and the next they are freaking out and kicking your dog in the head.
  3. Who is this delightful woman? I have no idea, but her eyes are freakin me out and not in a good way (if there is a good freaked out ). Ahhh...there is a good freaking out then after all. It is when the snozberries taste like snozberries . Also good investigative work by GSG5545...I like where your head is at. Sorry to derail the thread, so my pick is James Earl Jones. Could you imagine playing for that guy?? His pep talks would be legendary.

  5. From now on I am not going to read anything that has anything to do with the Big 12. I am so glad we are done with that worthless conference. Oh and foxsports blows!
  6. I might get ripped for this, but some of you need to grow up a little. I am pretty disgusted at some of the things being said in this thread. Green is leaving the program, wish him luck and move on for crying out loud.
  7. No. The article is about reassuring insecure Texas fans that they're better than Nebraska, and that we're actually worse off without them. In these paragraphs, where does it say that they are better then us? It looks to me that they are wanting us for the competition. Only thing they say that they will be better is the money which they would have gotten with or without us in the Big12. maybe I am just missing what all of you are seeing (except akita). I agree with you Okaive...I didn't see anything too bad in there. Honestly, some of it was kinda flattering to us. But that is just how I took it I guess.
  8. How dare you talk about Tom in that manner!!! Nah, I am just messing with you...I agree completely and good post skers.
  9. I know the 2009 season had a lot of heartache, but man was that a fun season to watch.
  10. How long will it take the NCAA to outlaw writing on your arm?
  11. Helmet sticker to: Tyler Legate, just because it's good to see the fullback get some carries. Hopefully that happens more often to keep offenses guessing, especially in goal line situations.
  12. Lyell Bremser (who did the man, woman, and child phrase) seemed like he made listening to the game fun. That was way before my time, but I like the more play-by-play announcing. I don't really like listening to the opinions that some announcers seem to think they need to throw in. Seems like announcing a game is a bit of a lost art.
  13. You "debbie downers" seem to forget that our former OC seemed to neutralize the talent pool we had. Like previously stated earlier, TG only played receivers that could block down field. Part of the reason McNeill switched to WR last season. You'll see that we will be fine, and talent pool will be maximized. The new staff is why I am hopeful, but it just kinda stinks to see talent get wasted the last couple of years (Chris Brooks for example). So I am cautiously optimistic...I just want to see what Beck and the new guys do with talented guys like Bell.
  14. I hate to be the debbie downer here, but we hear stories like this every single year (especially from the LJS). I want to believe and I have hope we will see the talent of guys like Bell being used to their full potential by the new staff. But in the end, I am still thinking to myself, "show me."
  15. The older I get the more I love baseball. College football is still my number one, of course. I stopped really watching the NBA and the NFL, because I got tired of the selfishness I would see in these leagues. I kinda see college football going the NBA/NFL route too and it bugs me to be honest.
  16. Man, this thread just keeps going. I do feel for the people out of state that don't get the chance to experience the spring game. It is a pretty cool experience.
  17. If it's on TV (which it was during the 90's) then we have 65K instead of 70k. It's not going to be that big of a hit. Are we going to not televise our regular season games to ensure the sellout streak keeps going after the addition? No. The revenue lost from tickets will easily be offset by the Big Ten Network. You also get national exposure, and get your brand into recruits homes. Texas just did it, and then they had a CFB live special on Monday. That's advertising the school, which is important. Finally, you throw a bone to all the fans out of state (like myself). There's just as many of us out of state who can't make it, as there are instate. I agree that they aren't good excuses, but those are the two reasons I think Nebraska is really looking at. I don't buy the excuse that people can use the film on us...we show absolutely nothing in the spring game anyways. The money thing goes beyond just money for tickets. People are out in Lincoln and I am sure it generates some pretty good revenue for the city as well. I think they really fear attendance dropping to like 35-40k, which it has been down there before from 1996-2003 with the exception of 1998 when it was 60k. The spring game attendance thread has the attendance numbers in there, courtesy of JTrain.
  18. The real reasons why it isn't on TV... 1. Money 2. Recruiting...for recruits that are at the spring game it is a selling point. "Look how many fans show up for a practice."
  19. You still want to keep the coaching staff intact zoogies? I know I said I wanted Watson, Gilmore, and Cotton gone...but the more I think about it the more I feel it is on Bo. As a supervisor, you have to have expectations from the people under you and they need to know these expectations. If they can't do it, then you find someone who will. Basically saying I agree with you and Bo just needs to lay down some expectations and consequences. I never wanted to keep the staff intact and would have preferred Cotton and Gilmore left. I'm not sure how tied Gilmore and Watson are. If the options are keep Watson and Gilmore, or keep neither, I'd keep neither. I have a high opinion of Watson, but given Bo's direction of the offense I think it's best for both to part ways. I still find it odd that arbitrary "vision" is setting down these kind of restrictions/requirements for an offensive coordinator's scheme. But it isn't too much to get worked up about going forward, I guess. I just don't have much confidence in Bo's vision about offense yet, even though ultimately you like this out of a head coach. I like Muschamp's approach in getting his OC, but we'll see how this plays out! I think given Bo has this vision, he should get all the guys he needs to run it. I'd like handing the reigns to a single guy who could show promise at OC, like some of the names tossed out recently (can't remember anyone other than Chad Morris at the moment though), but it seems like that isn't happening...which is less than promising but it could work out! Offseason excitement doesn't make a program, after all. I see...sorry if you already explained that in some other thread (I stopped even looking at the coaching change threads, until I opened this one for some reason). I know you like Watson and I feel like he is put in an unwinnable situation somewhat. I always had the same issues with him like redzone efficiency, playcalling in certain situations (going away from what was working), lack of player progression, etc. ] Agreed on the bolded part. That is going to be one crazy good team I think. I still think the whole thing is a work in progress and we just need patience as fans. If we keep the staff together for a long time then we could have something pretty special again. Even with T.O. we had some heart breakers, but we ended up with quite a finish...could be the same thing is all I am saying I guess.
  20. I am going to say that he will develop in the NFL. I don't know how far he will get, but he has the physical tools to be good. I still firmly believe something was missing in practice...either they didn't work on catching, holding on to the football, etc. Or they just aren't taught very well. Poor kid though...he will always be remembered for his failures at Nebraska, unless he makes a name for himself in the NFL. I hope he proves everyone wrong and has a great NFL career.

  22. Probably a better center out there then Caputo, but give him credit. He got blown up on a few plays, but most of the time he was pretty solid on the line.
  23. I don't like how the coaches handled the situation, honestly. You could tell Taylor was injured the rest of the season after Missouri and he became a detriment to the team. I can't think of one situation where he helped us after being injured. The kid should have been allowed to heal up and they should make due with someone else for a few games. Not his fault...I blame the coaches all the way for keeping him out there. It was the same with Lee. We basically shut down the offense like we did last year. Martinez does still have one of the worst throwing motions I have ever seen. He throws it like a shot-put. He is not accurate, he has no power behind it, and he locks onto WR's. If he works on those things and studies lots of film...he will hit the next level. I just hope if he gets hurt, we can put someone else in and there isn't much drop off and we wouldn't have to shut down the playbook. Something is going on in practice that needs to be fixed, because too many guys on offense must not be getting quality reps or coaching.
  24. I really couldn't care less who starts at QB. We have an OLine that can't block, WR's that can't catch and don't make plays on the ball (every other team that I have watched in the BCS bowls have WR's that actually go for the ball and can catch it when the throw is bad, but still hits them in the hands), and every single QB we have had lately can't go through their progressions and just lock onto a WR. Ganz did it, Lee did it, Green does it, Martinez does it, and anyone else will do it too, because that is what they are learning practice. Fix all those things, plus fumbles and penalties, and we should be all right with whoever gets the job. Lots of work to do on offense.
  25. There are 18 yr. olds that can do exactly that. It just depends on your maturity and it does take a little bit of time to get comfortable enough to take a leadership position. Taylor still seems immature to me and that is usually because of upbringing...being coddled, told your the best all the time, etc, etc. Not saying there is anything wrong with still being immature. At some point he is going to have to man up and take the lead if he wants to remain the starting QB.
