  1. No...he was a smug, unhappy little man. And talent, please! We know talent when we see it and Chase is not that talented. But whether we clapped for another team or not...who cares? We don't go around calling our fanbase the best fans in college football. Not once have I seen any real Nebraska fans claim that. Most don't think we are any better fans then anyone else. So really you can just stick that up your you know what. Quit trying to use that "best fans" bullcrap against us, because most of us are getting tired of it. We don't think we are better fans. And quit acting like we are perfect...we know we aren't and I refuse to walk around saying, "I better watch myself, because I am one of the greatest fans in college football." I say if you piss me off then we have problems. We talk respectful to each other and there won't be any problems. Get the picture buddy? Oh and the Chiefs suck.
  2. What can you say about the game of football? One week it can make you feel like you just climbed Mt. Everest. The next week it feels like Christmas morning, but you wake up to find out that Santa took off with your wife and dog. You really loved that dog, too. As fans, we love and hate this game called football. Football has this inexplicable ability to make us laugh, cry, and yell random curse words as if we have all suddenly developed tourette's syndrome. There are ups, downs, twists, and turns in the emotional roller coaster called the football season. It is what keeps us coming back for more. In the past few years, we have had to endure our share of heartache. There were so many heartaches that a split had developed in the fanbase. It is something that is still lingering to this day. There are some new emotions that can be felt in the hearts of Husker fans, though. Where once there was only pessimism and despair, there is now a sense of optimism and hope. The fan culture has made huge strides in gaining their confidence back. As Pelini would say, "we still have a long ways to go, however." It is an encouraging thing to witness. When times are as hard as they are right now in the world. When there is so much hatred, bitterness, and anger. It is nice to see the Husker fanbase back on to the path of pride in our program, comraderie, and a family atmosphere. So last week, Santa came into your house and took your dog instead of leaving presents. Let's just hope this week after the game you feel like you just climbed Mt. Everest. Afterall, it is nice to feel like there is always hope. So here is to all the Husker fans out there. You have taken a lot of lumps, but have never given up your support. That is something to be proud of and that is why there is no place like Nebraska.
  3. The reason we won't live up to expectations is because Watson has no creativity or ingenuity...and something is very wrong with our offensive line (not sure if it is coaching, talent, or what). Until those things get fixed, then I don't see us winning a national championship.
  4. I would have still liked to see Lee get some more playing time earlier in the season. I knew at some point we would have to turn to him and we didn't really get him ready for that moment. Oh well though. Glad we have him anyways.
  5. We didn't lose because of the refs...that is the first thing I have to say. The other thing is...yeah they are horrible refs. I am getting so sick of them honestly. I really hope the refs aren't this bad in the Big 10. It really boggles my mind that they even have jobs still. They aren't even consistent with their calls and that is all I am asking for. If you call it on us, then you darn well better call a penalty when they do the exact same thing to us. And how do we NEVER get a holding a call for us. They call holding on us, but never for us. Are the coaches not teaching our O-Line how to get away with it or what? Also on the holding call against Prince...WTF!!! How do you throw the flag after the play is over? When the holding was like 10 seconds before that which wasn't even that bad. There were two plays I believe where the flag was thrown way, way, way too late. Then the Reed catch where a ref was right there watching and still couldn't get the call right and then no replay on it. When they couldn't even spot the ball right...that says something is going on there. They are terrible and I don't even feel bad saying it...I know I wouldn't be able to keep my job if I was that bad at it. But we still didn't lose because of them...just to clarify.
  6. Yeah, we have at least one meltdown every year...usually on offense. The defense didn't look great either, but they still held Texas to 20 when they had great field position all game long. I made a comment during the game that I really missed Nate Swift. He could catch anything man.
  7. I think the negativity is frustration. Nebraska looked terrible out there. They looked like they weren't even ready to play. We have the same problems we have had for far too long as well. When are all the penalties going to stop? (Granted the officials were some of the worst I have ever seen, but great teams overcome this). Why can't Watson have any type of offense against good defenses? (Not totally his fault on the dropped balls though). It was a pretty poor showing against a good, not great Texas team. Texas looked like they wanted it more and that shouldn't have been the case...this was Nebraska's one chance to get some bragging rights and they fell flat. I can take a loss if we show passion and intensity, but losing when we showed no heart is something I am getting tired of seeing. Just saying there are some good reasons why people are really negative after that game. Granted we should try to not throw players under the bus. Coaches I am OK with, because they make the big bucks so it goes with the job.
  8. Lee looked good out there. That is one of the few good things I can say about today. I still hate you Texas.
  9. Yeah exactly. And in 2002 we were 7-7...not exactly our best year either. So nice try Texas writer guy.
  10. why is everyone talking about KSU? Because they beat at UCLA team who was 7-6 last year? A KSU team who last year was the only contender for the North by the end of the season. And even then, when it came down to it, they were only able to put 3 on the Huskers. Even in the worst years of Nebraska...we still beat KSU. f#*k the Wildcats. Daniel Thomas is why. He is a big back and they like to run it at you. He could hurt us, especially if the run D doesn't get tweaked. He did pretty well on us last year if I remember right...we still won that game of course. I know we will be fine on defense. But yeah when we think of run games on our schedule, KSU stands out right now.
  11. Is that dude pinching Crick's butt?
  12. I am sure things will get better on defense, but earlier in the week I was watching some of last years games and Suh was a major factor for why people couldn't run on us. He would run them down from behind if they got past the line. So it will probably just take some tweaking by the coaches, but we should be fine there. I sure hope so anyways, because Daniel Thomas will have a huge day if things don't get fixed.
  13. I feel bad for the guy, sure. I also figured we would lose around 3 games this year anyways. No matter how you look at it...we lost Suh, Dillard, Asante, Turner, and O'hanlon. Pretty much our top tacklers. Our defense might not win us as many games this year and we still have questions about the offense...how much will the offense improve? Then we lost a few guys to injuries before the season started, so I would be pretty happy with only 3 losses this year. Anyways, I feel really bad for Lee. But if the coaches see something that makes them say he isn't the guy then I trust them.
  14. For the record, none of the Mods are happy when threads are locked. You guys are pretty good about it honestly. I mean if you do too much locking then it turns into some gestapo site or something (I don't know what that means, but can't think of anything better to say). You do too little and it is like the tigerboard. So you guys have a rough little deal and you guys are pretty good so you get a . I was mostly talking about other sites that really censor things.
  15. I don't like how the media guys were calling the family...that is totally out of line and they should know better. I don't think they should ever be allowed to call family members of COLLEGE players for any reason. Or at least the majority of reasons. I am not a fan of threads being locked and it happens all over, not just here. It smells of censorship and in my opinion...bad things happen when people are silenced. The mods can do whatever they deem appropriate, but just be careful with censoring is all. So, obviously, I don't like how closed off the program has become. It is something for the whole state of Nebraska and something we should be able to enjoy. So what if the other team can get some scouting reports?...you still have to stop it. That is just my opinion though and just wanted you guys to think about being careful about censoring too much. Btw- stop worrying about your kids so much some of you. You can't keep them in a bubble and the trials and tribulations they go through will make them the person they will become in life. All right, that is my preaching for the day!
  16. Just watched the Pelini interview on HuskerExtra...at 3:30 did he say Google board? I couldn't hear him, but does that mean he is reading some message boards like Huskerboard??
  17. Really immature IMO, you don't root for someone to get hurt. I have a strong hatred for UT.... Sorry but I dont care if it's *immature* I would love to see them be down to there 3rd string qb and lose 5 games or more. I don't care for Texas either (and not all because of football), but nobody wants to see anyone get hurt man...that's not cool to wish that on anyone. It is just a game after all. Edit - Also that 15 year old kid is a pretty good writer...he should look into making some money for that.
  18. Didn't Texas put a Big XII Champions * sign on their wall the year they beat OU but were left out of the championship game? '08, right? Fools. The Co-Champions* sign was supposed to be installed on the Big 12 South Champions wall. (Which Texas was, check the record book. 2008 OU, Texas, and Tech are South Division co-chammpions) The workmen screwed up and installed it on the Big 12 Champions wall. Mistake by a workman, that's all it ever was. But it was seen by the press and published as Texas ego. Rather than move it to the other side of the room, Texas staff decided to just remove it althogher. But you guys all want and need to believe the worst about Texas. I keep coming back to this board trying to find that Nebraska class I've heard so much about. I haven't found it yet. I guess it's all in the past. A decade of losing can do that. Rest of the country has noticed it too. First off...I am not classy to Texas. Ever! I have hated you guys my whole life and I will always hate you and I always thought Texas should be given back to Mexico. I hate your state, I hate your football program, and I hate your arrogance. Honestly, I am sure most Nebraskans could care less what some Texas SOB thinks of us.
  19. He didn't get redshirted because all that stood behind him was Washington and Kellogg Jr. Martinez was mostly playing slot receiver on the scout team, didn't get any solid QB reps until this Spring. I know all that, but if they felt that Green needed more work (like serious work) then why not let Washington be the #2 guy and then redshirt Green? Maybe I am drinking the , but I really think Washington could have done what Green did for us last year and got us by. So by not redshirting him that just says to me that the coaches thought he was good enough to start and play as a freshman so they had confidence in his play. Summary- Washington could have done what Green did last year (IMO) and Green could have been redshirted, but Green was a better QB (potentially better then Lee even) just not as good as Lee experience wise. Of course I am bias towards Washington! which is probably where my argument falls apart...but I am a fan of him.
  20. You and the others are right. No reason to get my panties in a bunch over this. Another thing though...I don't ever remember any of us saying we are the greatest fans in college football. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't we get labeled that by other people? I never claimed to be that. But we do take pride in being called that...who wouldn't? And Nebraska football is part of our identity...the entire state gets behind the program. He should know that Nebraskans are proud people and when you call out our people...you will have a backlash. I will also say that after October 7, 2010, I may be one of the few people (or many…who knows) that looks forward to seeing Nebraska leave our conference. I don’t say this because I have something against the university or it’s teams. I say it because I really, really get annoyed by Nebraska fans. In person, in print, on the Internet, etc. There are some (Joe being a great example) that I find to be delightful. However, the majority of you are f'ing insane. I call . He is just tired of losing to us all the time...and OUR conference? Who built this conference?...K-State should just be happy they have a home to make any money.
  21. So this guy is a K-State fan who grew up in Nebraska? You know, I have been reading things like this from other Big 12 teams and I am done with them. Honestly, I could care less what happens to them. As far as I am concerned everyone in the Big 12 has worn out their welcome in Lincoln...Nebraskans think you are scum when you put out trash like this. It doesn't surprise me that this guy is a K-State fan, because I haven't seen many that show any class so this guy fits in with them. I hope Texas takes a big dump on the other schools and leaves them high and dry. The move to the Big 10 can't come soon enough . Maybe I am being harsh, but I am getting a little tired of hearing this kind of crap from the Big 12. Edit- That wasn't directed at Kansas either Jayhawk. I still like Kansas . And even Missouri while I am at it.
  22. Check out Hardrick's picture...if he looks that intense for a profile picture then what is that dude going to look like on the field? Glad he is on our side.
  23. He may get his chance this year if 1620 radio report is right. Lee's arm is not healing as quick as it should. Did anyone say why it isn't healing as quickly as it should? Is Lee not doing what he needs to do so it heals quicker or is it just one of those things?
  24. The good news for Cody Green is that the coaches liked enough of him from a practice standpoint that he didn't get redshirted. I know there were depth issues, but they still had confidence in him being the #2 guy as a freshman. Last years experience was a big positive for him...he just needs a little more time is all to get the right amount of experience and confidence. That will translate into better leadership as well.
