  1. Im in college, so maybe i can offer a little insight as to why we obvioulsy didnt play as well as we believe we can. Football players get up at about 6 am every morning to go lift weights. They go and veg out in classes for awhile, and than hit the practice field late in the afternoon. Go from that to arriving in Winston Salem friday night, sleeping in crap hotel beds that are uncomfortable. Couple that with a bunch of nervous energy (game the next day), and what do you get, no sleep. That + 11 am game, which is 10 am where they were = very sluggish performance. NO ONE played well. Lucky was hesistant, Keller was, lets face it, not good at all, and the receivers once again dropped a few balls. The defense could not get off blocks, could not get pressure with the front four, were not holding their containment, and seemed to play much slower than usual. I really think the secondary bailed us out in that game. Yes, they gave up what should have been two huge plays, and yes, they werent exactly helpful in stopping the end around (allthough im not sure if that is their responsibility), but other than that, they basically shut down a pretty darn good passing team. My feelings are that a win on the road against a bcs team is gonna be tough, no matter what, and that with our schedule, if we go out and win 10, 11, or 12 games, no one is gonna care how much we beat wake by in week 2
  2. I absolutely agree with the above post. For all of you who say that we shouldn't tear down the goal posts, I ask you this. When is the last time you have in person seen the Cornhuskers beat the number one team in the nation in a non conference match up after you have gone through a drought this long in CONFERENCE championships, let alone national ones. The act of tearing down goalposts is dangerous, obviously, but it represents what is right about college football. Ultimately, the idea is that the game isnt for the boosters, or the alumni, its for the students, both the ones on the field and the ones in the stands. If we want to celebrate the biggest moment that we will be lucky enough to be a true part of if it happens, dont you dare begrudge us that opportunity. Everyone who steps foot on that field after the game is well aware of the danger. It is their own personal decision, and one that steps beyond class. We werent so classy back in the 90's, when we actually winning something, and we still took those goalposts down, twice.
  3. Wow, dumb topic.... move on and ignore it.
  4. Chicagoans are pretty strong too, especially for only representing a city. I have heard alot about SoCal though. Lots of retired corn heads out there, and money to spend.
  5. Lol, this is why scout is a joke. Didnt the guy typing this all out get down to number 94 or whatever baker is, type his name, height, weight, and than forty time, and than go wait..... 6'6'' 292, 4.71 40 yard dash and go, this must be a mistake, how can a guy that big and that fast be 94? God they are dumb
  6. Sources? Never post something like that without one, or all it is is hearsay.
  7. I would say Bob Gibson personally. The man single handedly caused the mlb to change their rules, not to mention he probably could have been an all star basketball player as well.
  8. Im pretty sure that Incognito was arrested a few years ago for assualt after he beat up a frat guy at a party. This was not the offense that got him kicked off the team. In fact, he didnt even get suspended. There was no weapon involved, no drugs, nothing illicit. My god, he got into a fight! His first fight that I have ever heard of. Make him do some community service and work his ass off in practice. If he has any kind of character at all, this situation will make him a stronger person, and I have seen nothing to suggest that the man is a potential danger to society or is bereft of character. This is definately an overreaction based on the fact that he is the best player on the team.
  9. Remember that Major Culbert was accused of sexual assualt before he even got here. If this is Purify's first brush with the law, than I dont think it warrants getting kicked off the team. I work at a bar. I see fights EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I have seen the guys that start those fights tell the police that the other guy hit him first and watched the other guy go to jail for the night. None of us know how serious the situation is, but barring either a past history of this kind of conduct or some mitigating circumstances, this isnt as big a deal as most people are making it out to be.
  10. No, actually, Joey M. Booster purchased that plush office. If he disapproves of what Pederson and Callahan are doing, than he can stop donating. After all, this is techinically Chancellor Harvey Perlman's program, since he is the only one with the capability to fire Pederson. If you dont like, than cheer for another team. This isnt a democracy, its a business.
  11. Wow this is a dumb argument. Instead of arguing about how alienating SOME former football players may or may not hurt recruiting/fundraising/nebraska football, why dont we actually just look at those three areas to see if they are underperforming. Lets see, back in Frank's day, we couldnt recruit anyone from outside of Lincoln seemingly, and had almost no talent on the field by the time he left. This of course, occurred when Frank allowed players on the sidelines, and every former player was supposedly on the bandwagon. Callhan on the other hand, has had several nationally regarded recruting classes, and can get kids to come to Lincoln from anywhere in the country. No players on the sidelines...... hmmmm.... that would seem to indicate to me that all of the above posts talking about how players on the sideline affect recruiting are dumb posts that obviously werent thought out, and probably reveal a deeper problem in the induvidual poster involving a deep seated need to go back to high school when they were "cool" so that they didnt have to look at the failure their lives have become as evidenced by the above posts.
  12. Get used to it Joey, they arent getting any smaller based on next year's recruting haul.
  13. College coaches should be judged on three criteria, and I list them from most important to least important as far as judging them as coaches. 1.) On the field Performance, does their team win games? 2.) Recruiting, If they arent winning games yet, are they bringing in the talent to do so? This includes hiring coaches. 3.) Character, are they recruiting good people, do they graduate their players? do they recruit honestly and fairly? Why are Prince and Chizik on the bottom of this list despite Prince winning games and Chizik having a teriffic pedigree? Simply put, Chizik has done squat as a head coach, so rating him above any head coach in the big twelve is just plain stupid. Prince has done well on number 1, but there are serious questions as to his ability to retain coaches/personnel, and he has not proven he can recruit. As for Stoops, the man can obviously coach. He wins games, even when his talent may not be as good as the other teams. He can obviously recruit somewhat well. There is however a serious question about his character, and Im not going to put him up on a pedastal and crown him the class of the big twelve until the investigations are over.
  14. Well, thats it for that thread, how about some dancing bananas...
  15. Honestly, I would wait to get tickets until you get there, about five minutes before kickoff, the prices will probably drop to like 100 or so, instead of the 250-300 I have seen them on ebay.
  16. Yeah, but TO isnt "involved" with NU athletics... give me a break. If you recommended someone who was one of your best friends and they got fired, you would be a pretty sh**ty friend if you sided with management, wouldnt you?, and trust me, TO is above all else, a loyal man.
  17. Too much store is put into the x vs. z thing... With the playbook we have, we could get all five x receivers on the field at once if we wanted too, so Im not worried about any sort of talent log jam. If you are the best players, you are gonna get on the field, someway, somehow.
  18. GBR, you had me exicted until I saw you had Wisconsin in the national title game..... No dice compadre.
  19. See my response in another thread Skers... Not only do I not believe that the team requested it, but rather a few induviduals, but I believe that the team had the utmost respect for Sam.
  20. I respectfully disagree with you skers. The "unity" counsel was not representative of the entire team. ASU voted Sam as a captain, Koetter names Keller the starter, that day, a couple of players talk to Koetter, not the entire team, just a couple of guys. You dont know why those few guys wanted Carpenter as the quarterback. I do not believe that it is far fetched to believe that those guys knew about Carpenter being upset and thinking about transferring, and wanted to keep him on the team because he was younger than Keller. Believe me, just because you are 22, doesnt mean that you dont think you can run a team. They obviosuly fired Koetter over this, and I have yet to hear a peep out of any of the players on the team about how this was unfair because Koetter made the right decision. I dont believe that Keller lost the team, I just think a few induviduals made poor leadership decisions.
  21. Offense.... Keller Defense.... Ruud SP.... C Grix I would be very surprised if these werent the picks to be honest.
  22. This would be our biggest get in the entire recruting season. Why you ask, well I will tell you. For one, he will be a great linebacker in college. He is big, physical, and fast, and will be a playmaker in whatever defense he decides to play for, and secondly, getting him gives us a great shot at getting his brother Bryce two years from now, who may actually be a bigger get than Arthur. They are both tremendous players.
  23. I have stolen lawn ornaments from peoples yards for fun in the past... it has yet to affect my golf game.
  24. Do you want to tell a 12 year old girl that a man died because of her? Stick his ass in prison for the rest of his life without the possibility of getting out if its true. I would rather die than live locked up.
  25. Well Hunter, I think if you looked at the evidence, it might change your mind. As far as getting true freshman o lineman on the field, that doesnt really happen anywhere, and it has nothing to do with the complexity of any offense, it has to do with the fact that lifting in your high schools weight room during the off season and when you arent on break, four times a week, cant prepare anyone to play with guys who work out everyday, with professional supervision, eat the right diet, and have access to better eqipment. If you look at redshirt freshman, we actually do play quite a few of them. Murtha, Patrick, Slauson, Hickman all saw significant playing time as r freshman. I am actually looking forward to when we have three or four seniors on the line for once, instead of one senior, one sophomore, and three freshman.
