  1. Lane is started to use the speech patterns, bob his head, move his hands, and find things to complain about the same way as Saban. Count me in.
  2. this is not a commentary on anything that has happened since Bo got fired. Separate issues to me. But this interview confirmed everything I didn’t like about Bo and why I think he sucks at being in charge of things in general. Glad he’ll never come back.
  3. I guess I should have read this before I posted, but I actually thought it would be the other way around, with Walters taking over as HC. Either way, if Frost comes it's not surprising if they both stay in Orlando.
  4. That is interesting since his current DC Erik Chinander has a very good reputation and came with Frost from Oregon. He also spent some time coaching in Iowa. Maybe he's staying. I was definitely cool with Chinander coming along as DC, but I'll take Grinch in a heartbeat over him.
  5. Wait, wut? If Chip Kelly leaves the whole staff will likely be fired by the new head coach, and Frost will move on to some other program. Do you mean if Mark Helfrich the Oregon OC leaves? Or are you saying that a new head coach would fire Helfrich and promote Frost to OC? I guess it *could* happen. But who could possibly know that? lol I can believe that's a rumor there in Duckland. But I doubt it would actually play out that way.
  6. Ha ha. I used to live next to that art piece.
  7. Actually, I shot this video. It was on a Tuesday morning in early March.
  8. That's not true, he developed two. Ganz and Taylor were both products of his system. Beck bolting was all about Harrison Beck. Gabbert decommitted when Callahan's job security became 0. Freeman ... was classless in his decommittment. I don't know if I would say Suh would have been a 4th round pick. He probably was going to be a beast regardless! Maybe not top 2, but still a first rounder or second rounder, would be likely. I mean, Adam Carriker's only years of significance came under Callahan's tenure (three years: 04-06). Is that to say Carriker blossomed under his coaching staff? Or he was just that good and a physical specimen who was going to have a high chance at success no matter what. Taylor was not a product of the system. He was a bandaid we brought in from JuCo until Beck was supposedly ready to take over. Ganz was a product of the system that BC had little to no faith. This is why he brought in another bandaid QB Sam Keller. Product of the system or bandaid or whatever. Taylor still won Big XII player of the year his senior year.
  9. Zac Taylor is one of my all time favorite Huskers. He might be on of the top two or three toughest QBs we've ever had (not that I go back all that far).
  10. yeah, but you've got 7-8 built in wins there w/ our cup-cake non-con schedule. (i know every team does as well). but when you look at the games that actually matter, we're sitting at like 12-8ish. And recently those losses have been getting worse and worse. Fine we played Texas close over two years ago. This year our losses to good opponents were not competitive. Last year we lost in a crappy bowl game, imploded in the second half against OU, lost embarrassingly to A&M (possibly the turning point to the negative for Bo's career), and the Texas game was crap. Really the last time we could say "it sucks we lost, but I applaud our effort" was the Texas championship game. It might not be fair to just look at the losses in the past two years, but it's looking an awful lot like a bad trend that needs to be cut off before it gets even worse.
  11. , lol. Bo knows one type of defense extremely well, but can't adjust it to defend different kinds of offenses. In addition, Bo is on of the best defensive minds in the game only when he has All Americans like Glenn Dorsey, Patrick Peterson, Suh, and Amukamara- none of whom he recruited. I will give him credit for Lavonte, but he really had nowhere else to go. Checkmate no way. you forgot rook to queen seven, or something. BO does know defense, what he does not know, what no one knows, is how to tailor a defense to completely stop a type of offense in a particular conference and then tailor the exact same defense in one off season to stop a completely different offense in a completely different conference. give him some time to adjust to the new conference and some credit for what he did this year. i would guess it will be easier for him the stop the B1G offenses when he has the personnel and time than it was to stop the Big 12 offenses, which were just lighting up defenses. it is unfair to criticize him for only being able to stop the spread, and silly. he effectively stopped the spread and when he had all the personnel he needed on the field, he has to drastically adjust for a completely different style of play. I don't like the "new conference" argument. Northwestern runs the spread as does Michigan (for a little while longer) as does Purdue. NW is not Michigan is not Wisconsin is not Ohio St and on. I don't think there is such a thing as "conference offenses". Each school is going to have their own style. NW has been a spread for many years now. Michigan doesn't want to be spread anymore, but they are able to adapt to their personnel. MSU and Iowa are "traditional" offenses. Most schools get the best athletes they can and adjust accordingly, which is something Bo has not fully done yet.

I will give him credit for Lavonte, but he really had nowhere else to go. Bo didn't have Patrick Peterson. Doesn't make a huge difference in your overall point, but I'm just correcting that. You're right. I meant Laron Landry, who Bo had for a brief time.

  14. I don't know about Shaw. He went to Stanford and basically grew up there. I figured he was like a Pat Fitzgerald type who will never leave his school.
  15. OU's Nike ProCombat uniforms from last year: http://friendsoftheprogram.net/2009/11/16/a-closer-look-at-nike-pro-combat-oklahoma/ Not bad in my opinion.
  16. He's projected to be a 6th or 7th round NFL pick. I've even seen him listed as the #10 QB in next year's draft.
  17. Busch was great. Urban Meyer thought so too. That's a good enough endorsement for me. Raymond had better connections to this staff which is why he got hired here. We technically hired Raymond away from Indiana anyway.
  18. Kenny Bell returning kicks instead of Marlowe was encouraging. Other than Martinez playing awesome, that was the one positive I took from the game. It was a sign of athletes being put in a position to succeed by their coaches. Yeah Bell had his drops and that sucks, but at least it's not "What happened to __(insert athlete here)__?" "He must be in Bo's doghouse."
  19. You make a good argument for the idea that Green or Heard or both should have been redshirted this year, but weren't.
  20. I did not say you could not be critical. In fact in my post I encouraged it. The defense played porously, the offensive line couldn't get a push. Rex looked tired, probably due in part to the offensive line, Memorial stadium for as rocking as it was last week was completely dead this week. Discussions like those are the ones I come to read. I was incredibly disappointed in the game and the way much of the team played. I came on within minutes of the game to read discussion on that, or maybe even Martinez's excellent play and the fact that he took the team on his shoulders a nearly willed it to a win in the 2nd half. However as disappointed as I was in the game, I was even more disappointed in the the threads started by some "fans" such as "Get Ready for another Decade of Mediocrity," "Bo Needs to Go," and other extreme threads of that nature were the embarrassment. Criticize, have good discussion, express disappointments, thoughts and concerns. JUST. DON'T. BE. STUPID. In other words it's ok to criticize the players and fans, but not Bo.
  21. Abdullah has made some clear and significant contributions this year. He actually sees the field, so I can understand not redshirting him. Heard is a Y'town guy and he worked hard to get here, so he's probably not leaving. I'd bet if nothing changes Green is out the door. Which really sucks. Meanwhile, Bo is quoted as saying we are thin at DL, yet there are three highly recruited freshman who should be playing. If they don't understand the D by now, adjust the D. It's getting to the point where they might be the only bodies you have left.
