  1. Tom has been in athletics most of his life. He has been in Congress. He has delt with people of high character, he has dealt with scum bags of the earth. To think that Tom Osborne is going to get out foxed, or left behind just isn't likely. He was not born yesterday. I trust that he is doing exactly what needs to be done.
  2. They all have to go. If you have a cancer in your body, you don't have surgery to remove half of it.
  3. Reminds me of the classic Jimmy Johnson line when asked about running up the score. "It's not my fault your team sucks"
  4. I do like to listen to Jim Rose. I do think he is better doing baseball games. I stated this in a thread over a year ago. I truly believe that if Nebraska was more successful on the field that people would not be complaining as much about Jim Rose. It is easy to nit pick the announcer when you are sick to your stomach watching the product on the field.
  5. You are nuts if you think anyone on this board will promote a ridiculas holiday over your high school football playoff game. You will regret it for the rest of your life if you don't support your team.
  6. I think it will be Turner Gill. Bo would be great also, but I think with TO, Gill is the choice.
  7. His first year was a nightmare. I did give Coach Callahan the benefit of the doubt though since he had Joe Dailey. I started to waiver in 2005 after of all things beating a poor Kansas State team at home. After that game Coach acted like we had just won a come from behind game against the New England Patriots. I finally had had enough last year at Los Angeles. We played to not get blown out. Not to win!! I have not been impressed since. The Cotton Bowl last year was a disaster. No way in the world we should have lost that game.
  8. He probably still thinks that Howard Snellenburger should be at Oklahoma. He really got screwed down there.
  9. It makes no difference to him. HE'S COACHED IN THE SUPER BOWL FOR GOD'S SAKE. Is anyone else sick and tired of him bringing that up?
  10. I must be one of the old guys on the board. Tom Osborne at one point showed plenty of emotion on the sideline. I can remember a number of games when Tom went off on officials. In the 1982 Missouri game it was only Tom's headset (and the cord attached) that kept him from running onto the field. Watch "A Day in the Life of Nebraska Football." Several times during the 97 Oklahoma game Tom was chewing on players and officials. This was in an one sided game. How many times did we used to hear about the "red veiners" at halftime. Tom Osborne knew when and where to show emotion. Just because he is basically a quiet individual, and preceived as somewhat boring in the media. It is not reason to say he was not emotional. I think he could motivate an individual or a team just as much as any "emotional leader" around. I would throw Tom's passion put into coaching football up against just about anyone.
  11. While we are at it, let's change our school colors to green and yellow. Something like Oregon. Let's do away with our current fight song. Let's build a new dome stadium, get rid of the band, get a real logo on our helmets. Having traditions carried forward does not mean we are stuck in the past. It is a way of honoring the thousands of players that have put on the uniform. Our defense is known across the country as the Blackshirts. Why would we want to change that???
  12. I read someones post yesterday that said something like "I bet Frank is smiling today". I was wondering if anyone has seen any comments from him on the dismissal of Pederson. With all of the media coverage, it seems he would be a logical interview for someone. Just curious if anyone has seen anything.
  13. Are you one of those people that think the government caused 9/11 and that we never landed on the moon? Lay of the Mountain Dew for a day. Are you kidding me? We landed on the moon? All right!!
  14. If anyone thinks this is not about Matt speaking his mind on ESPN they are living in another world. Steve Pederson is nothing more than a communist. He has completely lost his mind on this deal. He has single handedly taken over the wheel and driven this program into the dirt. He will go down in history as the biggest mistake the university ever hired. I am so pissed at him.
  15. It sure didn't work with Steve Spurrier going back to Florida.
  16. I chose a 7th grade dance over a Husker game in 1979. I had my first kiss of my life that night. To this day, I regret not going to the game. If I had tickets to both the concert and the football game, I wouldn't even consider the concert. However, we live in a world of DVR's, TIVO, internet rebroadcasts. Don't let Huskerboard fanatics choose for you. You can still watch or listen to the game after Elton. JUST DON'T ADMIT YOU EVER DID IT.
  17. Pederson "just a mouthpiece" Wow! I think that line is way off base. Whether you love the guy, or hate him; I think it must be understood that he is the one person with power in the athletic department. I personally think he wants what is best for the University, however; I think his ego has taken over. He needs to be accountable for his choices. From the outside looking in, he seems to be a CONTROL FREAK. I do think he has done a great job with the facilities, but he has done more damage to the program than good. It is only my opinion. I base my opinion by listening to former players and coaches.
  18. It is possible that he didn't see the game. Does anyone know what he had us rated the week prior. He may have had us in the Top 10.

For the most part, I have always thought Cowherd has been pretty decent to Nebraska.
  20. All week all I have been hearing is what we have to do to beat USC. How can we compete with the mighty dynasty from out west. How can we make the tunnel walk louder, how can we make Kirk Herbstrete look like an idiot on national television? How can we payback ESPN for disrespecting us.? How can the stadium be louder? Quite frankly, I am sick of it!!! Hear me out. We are Nebraska!!! We are Nebraska!!! We are the standard for excellence that other measure themselves by. Instead of asking what do we have to do to beat USC, we need to ask, WHAT IS USC GOING TO HAVE TO DO TO BEAT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!????? Damn it, We are Nebraska!!!! We need to take the field with a confident swagger. With the attitude that we are going to win. That we are going to play near mistake free football. That each player will be giving 100% effort on every play. That our receivers will be blocking 20 yards downfield on an off tackle dive; just in case he breaks free!!! That a Nebraska walk on will be busting someone up a kickoff coverage even though the kick is out of the endzone. The crowd will be insane when needed not because someone pleaded for it, but because it is what we do. We are Nebraska!!!! We were the first to pack 15,000 in for ESPN Game Day, we have always packed it in for a Spring Game. We will astonish visitors stadiums with the amout red. This is who we are!!! It is not our place to wonder how we will compete. It is some other schools job to wonder how in the world will be ever be like Nebraska. I seem to remember someone writing a song about it. THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE NEBRASKA!!!!! I don't care how good USC is supposed to be. I don't care if they have more 5 star recruits. I don't care if ESPN doesn't respect us. In 1995 when we had the greatest college football team ever assembled, Lee Corso didn't think we could compete with Florida. If they didn't respect that team, there is now way in the world they will ever throw us a bone. Let them take their shots at us. We will continue to win, we will continue to support our team "through all kind of weather". They don't have to get it. They are idiots!!! Screw them if they don't like us. If you don't like Mark May, turn the channel. Throw in a copy of an old Husker game. Listen to Kent Pavelka's call of Tommie's run in the Fiesta Bowl. That's what we do. We love our Huskers. Fly your Husker flag, wear your red, put on your corncob hat. We are Nebraska. We are the standard. GO BIG RED
  21. Just the facts. Sec 25, Row C is right behind the USC (visitors) bench. I sat there for the Nevada game. Rows A, B, C, and D are first; then they begin at 1-2-3... The lettered rows used to be an area for box seats. The view of the field is great for the most part. The sound in the stadium is great. However: on the down side. It is to low for clear viewing the entire game. You can not see the west sideline at all. At times it is a struggle to see over the visitors bench. The worst part for me was the television camera. The guy is on a truck that moves up and down the sideline all game. I talked to a guy there for the Nevada game who has had seats there since 1969. He said he would not trade the seats for any in the house. I guess it is all just a matter of opinion. I would rather be sitting there than up under the balcony, or at home!! Go Big Red I hope this helps.
  22. My favorites that I was at. No paticular order. 1994 Colorado 1992 Colorado 1991 Oklahoma 2001 Oklahoma 1982 Oklahoma 1978 Oklahoma 1977 Alabama 1983 Colorado I just was going off the top of my head, I think the list could just keep going and going... The entire seasons of 1994, 95. I don't ever think we will see a team in college football as dominate as the 1995 Huskers. Definately a thing of beauty. How about listing the most devistating/frustrating games in Memorial Stadium? 1978 Missouri 1986 Oklahoma 1991 Colorado, Washington 1998 Texas 2005 Texas Tech
  23. I'm up also. Just ready to jump in the shower, and drive to Lincoln. Only 3 short hours!!!! GO BIG RED
  24. I agree with Nebraska N Texas. I think it is a sad day in a way. Change (even for the better) is hard. Letting go of a tradition like this is tough. I will never forget the feeling in the stadium in 1994 when Colorado was lead onto the field prior to the tunnel walk... they stood on the field for one of the loudest moments in the history of the stadium. I don't know is this is true, but rumor has it that Bill McCarney soiled himself twice before the Hukers actually hit the field. My other favorite Tunnel Walk moments were in 2001 after 9-11. Wow, waht a feeling that was to see the firemen and police officers bring out the flag!!! The other was in 2004 when Tom Osborne led the reunion of the 1994 championship team out. God what a great moment. I'm starting to sound like an old man talking about the good old days. Sorry about that. I am sad to see it go, but on the other hand, the new deal may be much better. I am sure that back in 1994, there were people that did not want the team entering the field with anything other than the marching band playing. The home opener is 26 hours away, and I can't wait. I am sure I will love whatever they do. I have not missed a home opener since 1984. GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
