  1. I completely agree with this. I thought it was hilarious how they did the kiss cams during timeouts but they were "segregated" to each team. The first time was for Texas fans and showcased nothing but Texas fans kissing. Then during the next time out it was the Husker kiss cam. They showcased a handful of Husker fans kissing. Then as the timeout was almost over they switched over to one last couple kissing....sure enough it was 2 Texas fans. Now instead of realizing the mistake and QUICKLY switching/panning away from them....they just left them up there, even though it was the Husker kiss cam. I know this is petty but it is just another example. Please. That is so lame. You're going to up and join the Rust Belt over that? Cry me a freaking river.
  2. Is your beef with Texas as in the state? Or Texas as in UT? Last I checked, Austin is not a suburb of Dallas. It's a 3 hour trip to Austin from Dallas. 90 minutes to Baylor. 2.5 hours to A&M. 3 hours to Norman. 4 hours to Stillwater. 6 hours to Tech. Hopefully you get the point: The University of Texas IS NOT in Dallas. DFW has direct, non-stop flights to most of these markets. Kansas City DOES NOT. DFW is the home of MANY headquarters - not just the Big 12. Get over it. The championship game being in Arlington is NOT a slight against Nebraska any more than it would be against any other team in the conference. NOTE: The University of Texas IS NOT in Arlington. This is a WONDERFUL venue and if we are fortunate to get their most years, it will be HUGE for our Texas fan base, and HUGE for Texas and Oklahoma area recruiting. I don't know much about all the TV revenue talk, but I'll take your word for it on that one. That's about the only sensible beef I've actually heard.
  3. I hear a lot of talk about how UT "controls the conference,", we should bolt to the Rust Belt League, assert ourselves, yada yada. So let's say we "assert ourselves" with the Big 12 and tell them who's boss. What are we demanding out of them? - To take that second off of the clock that was rightfully put back on? To jerk Kunalic's scholly for the out of bounds kick? - To not call Terrence Nunn's fumble against Texas a fumble? - To not call Dan Alexander's endzone fumble against Texas a fumble? - To disqualify James Brown from the Big 12 Championship to prevent him from running over our arses? - To not have the Big 12 Championship in the state of Texas any more? (Personally I really enjoyed it) I guess I'm lost. What are our demands? Or are we just sore losers and want to run to some easier gig? Are we getting short-changed from the conference in some material way that I am unaware of? OK, I get that we lost the annual OU rivalry game. But what else? We sound like a jealous bunch of wusses. Cry babies. Sore losers. I hope the players and coaches don't act like this. We'll get our asses handed to us on a platter in Diego.
  4. Did it ever occur to anyone that Texas has by far the largest Nebraska fan base than any other state besides Nebraska? Have fun in the Rust Belt playing 'Sconsin every week!
  5. THANK YOU! for the record, Husker_99. I would be willing to bet my car, house and everything I own that if you went and asked all of the Texas kids on our roster and ask them if they would have come here if we were in the big 10? Ask them that if they had grown up through out high school without the nebraska exposure in the texas papers from Nebraska traveling there to play games. Ask them if they would have even known who we were? Do you ever read comments about recruits out in the far west or far east regions? When asked about leaders and who is recruiting them, when Nebraska pops up, alot of them will say "I don't know very much about Nebraska, but they've been recruiting me hard".....hmm. I wonder why that is? ITS BECAUSE WE DON'T GET EXPOSURE IN THOSE PLACES! please tell me there are more educated people when it comes to recruiting on here...sorry that may have been a bit much, but i'm just a little PO'ed that you thought it was crap. I would also bet you they know Pete Carroll, Bob Stoops, Jim Tressel, Mack Brown. How is it after year after year these coaches can reload and rarely have a bad season? Nebraska hasn't had a well known coach since T.O. Frank Solich and Bill Callahan are reasons why we haven't had the same talent in the last 10 years or so. I would guarantee you that they know Pelini better than those two. Course he probably wears his LSU national championship ring when he recruits. People move around so much they hardly stay in one spot. This isn't the 50's where nobody knows other teams outside their conference. yes there are more educated people than me when it comes to recruiting but don't sit there and tell me it's strictly the conference we play in which is the deciding factor when it comes to recruits. Grow a brain cell my friend. Tressel's not a good example. He's good...in the Big 10. You can't compare the Big 10 to the Pac 10 or Big 12. The Big 10 won exactly ONE (1) bowl game last year. It's true that OSU dominates the Big 10, but for crying out loud, it's the Big 10. OSU is good (in the Big 10 that is) because they have the entire state of Ohio to recruit from. Cincy, Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton. If NU moved to the Big 10, their recruiting would be limited to a few fly-over states. Yes, NU being in the Big 12 is ALL about recruiting. How many of our southern states boys do you think would be here if we were in the Rust Belt Conference? A fraction. That's how many. You going to fill up your roster with boys from Omaha and Bugaha? Good luck with that. You look at the Big 10 teams that aren't near major population centers, they SUCK. Purdue, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa (yes, they suck). That's EXACTLY what NU would become. Obscure. Under-talented. No media exposure. Irrelevant. The Big 12, and the constant exposure to the states of Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and TEXAS, is the best damn thing to ever happen to Nebraska. We just need to step up and win the conference. This is dumb. Let's move on.

Even considering a move to the Big 10 is ludicrous. Talk about a one way road to permanent irrelevance on the college football scene. If you think we can recruit the southern states well by playing in the Big 10, you're delusional. No other Big 10 team does, and we wouldn't either. Our recruiting states would be Nebraska, the Dakotas, and maybe Missouri. NO PLAYER worth his salt from Texas, New Mexico, Lousiana, Colorado, etc. is going to want to play in the Rust Belt Conference. They don't now, and they won't ever. That's why the Big 10 SUCKS in football. They don't have the talent of the Pac 10, Big 12, and SEC. And won't ever. We would become a Wisconsin with an "N" on the helmet faster than you can say "Suh." Come'on guys. Let's use our brains a little here.
  7. I didn't even think Zac Taylor had any eligibility left. If he did you can bet he'd be on the field.
  8. I can tell you this much it would be a ton of fun!
  9. The South Western Conference is still going strong, and I'm sure they would welcome NU with open arms. Imagine all of the media we would capture by playing... Alabama A&M Alcorn State Mississippi Valley St. Arkansas-Pine Bluff Grambling State Prairie View A&M Texas Southern Tigers Best part is, we'd be playing in Baton Rouge every 2 years, but it wouldn't be LSU!!!
  10. We're going to leave the conference why again? Because we only had 100 yards in offense on Saturday night? And we're going to join what conference again? And that conference will do what for us again? And we're going to recruit from where again?
  11. Network Television Executive: "They're going to boycott the game in Nebraska" Advertising Executive: "What's Nebraska?" Network Television Executive: "They're going to boycott the game in Nebraska" Advertising Executive: "What's Nebraska?" Network Television Executive: "The Big 12 north team that actually made it to the championship game" +1. Let's get over ourselves. Texas wasn't "given" anything, other than an opposing QB that wouldn't start for any Big 12 team, and about 60 yards of good field position on their last drive. Whining at this point is unproductive and unbecoming of Husker Nation.
  12. Me and my 9 year old son decided at the last minute to drive down from the TX panhandle where we live. We set out about 9am on Saturday and checked into a cheap motel in North Richland Hills about 3pm. I bought us a pair of tix off of craigslist from another Texas huskers fan who had extra tix. We threw the football at the hotel out on the lawn and parking lot, and my son loves Alex henery and practiced his place kicks in the parking lot. We then set out to the game around 4. Parked in a private lot just west of the stadium (a mile maybe). Played some more ball with my son, although I was freezing to death. Ate us some CiCis pizza and then hooked up with my ticket guy at the game, who was so nice to bring a BRAND NEW Huskers cap along for my son and just gave it to him! We sat in the front of the 3rd club level on about the 10 yard line. Beautiful stadium what can you say. All of the Huskers fans around us were super nice to me and my son. We had a GREAT time and this is one of the greatest games I have ever witnessed even though we came up short at the end. All of the Texas fans I encountered were extremely gracious, they all knew that it was extremely close. No dissing, etc. Just real respectful. I always enjoy seeing Texas play. It's really a class bunch. You can say what you want, but that is a class program. I absolutely LOVE Pelini, but I do wish he had a little more polish and class after LOSSES. Mack Brown is the model to follow on that front. This was just a real treat. No regrets. Texas, go kick some ass. We'll see you again in Lincoln in October, and Lord Willing I will be there!!!
  13. I'm boycotting the boycott. Texas won our game. Get over it. We screwed the pooch. I hope Texas rolls the Tide. If the Tide rolls Texas, then how good do we look as a result? Not so much. Get ur think'n cap on.
  14. Spano? Spano for starter next year! could be. I saw him tons at Stephenville HS and he's a stud. He's accurate and he's got some wheels.
  15. From someone born and raised in Texas i will go ahead and give you a reality check. In Texas about 90% of football players want to go to UT. The rest of the Texas schools get the leftovers that Texas didn't want. Sure there are a couple of times some good prospects leave the state but that doesn't happen often. With the exception of Oklahoma none of the rest of the Big 12 schools really have a shot at getting the best talent. My problem is mainly that the Big 8 bent overbackwards to let Texas have whatever they want. They came from a corrupt conference and to sit there and punk an already good conference was embarrassing. The Big 8 should've set the rules and if Texas didn't like them tell them to go somewhere else. Hey Texas mastermind, I'm from Texas myself, and I am well aware of the fact that UT gets most of the cream. Your thread has nothing to do with the fact that Nebraska's Texas recruiting would DRY PLUM UP if they moved to the Rust Belt league. Go ask Rex Burkhead (or Cody Green, or Chris Williams, or Trey Robinson, etc., etc. etc.) if they would come to NU if they weren't in the big 12. While you're at it, ask the players from any of the rest on the team from any of the rest of the sunshine states the same question. oh by the way...Burkhead was offered by UT and picked NU. Well considering that NU's best players from the past came from Florida beg to differ a little. Just because was offered by UT doesn't mean he would have started. From his performance against UT he didn't do much. If Texas has such good players then why has UT only won 4 national championships? I mean if Texas has the best players they should've won more right? There's nothing special about Texas, except that it's one of the most populated states. It's no different that CA or FL. Burkhead didn't do squat for the same reason Helu didn't: Texas committed to shutting down our run first, and they did. You put 7 or 8 in the box and Johnny Rodgers could do no better. My point is, if NU was in the Little Eleven, their recruiting base would be toast. Players would no more come from Florida than they would from Texas. I just get tired of all of the state of Texas and big 12 bashing. The state of Texas is huge for our program.
  16. +1. Get over it. We sounds like a bunch of cry babies. Yet if the shoe was on the other foot, we'd be celebrating.

  18. Ummm, isn't that what a message board is supposed to be for? oh forgot. It's only a message board for irafreak. irafreak's probably one of the jobbers wanting to go and join the Little Eleven. Have fun in that conference with a bunch of no-talent, ice bowl gangs.
