  1. Definitely looking forward to playing Michigan every year. I just hope we get things started on the right foot on Saturday. This game will not be easy. Atleast I don't think it will be, but please, surprise me Big Red. Beat em' ugly.
  2. I have to be honest. I've rooted for another team longer than I have rooted for Nebraska. I have two teams. Denver Broncos. Nebraska Cornhuskers. I gotta admit, I was wearing my Orange and Blue and cheering on Elway, Vance Johnson, Karl Mecklenburg, Steve Atwater, Dennis Smith, Greg Kragen, Big Zimmerman, hell even Mike Croel and Kenny Walker before I even knew they had played for the Big Red. All of the pictures of me as a child are in that crazy old orange and blue (not the new more friendly colors they went to in late 90's. I'd say I've been a Bronco for 26 years. I started my obsession with the Huskers probably five or so years later. Maybe in 89 or 90. That's the only two teams I root for.
  3. I knew from the day it was announced we were going to join that this conference just made sense for us. Great fans, physical football, similar climates, and similar lifestyles of the people you encounter on the road. I have always respected this conference for their defensive play. Always the best defensive lines and linebackers. As tough as I think this conference is, I expect us to be among the top if not the top of this conference in the future. We are already leaving our mark. If not for that loss to Northwestern, I would say we would have been almost a sure Conference Champion. Oh well, maybe next year.
  4. You can see Beck is really trying a lot of different things. Still trying to learn about his team and learn what his offense's capabilities are. I like his creativity. I love that he has brought the option back. Great execution on that option by Martinez by the way. Martinez is growing in this offense. Beck is growing in this offense. They are all learning together. This is why Burkhead is so important. Right now he is the one sure thing. We are young and talented on the offensive side of the ball. The offensive line is still a glaring weakness. Let's not forget though, this is only Beck's first year and we can already see he has done far more with things than Watson ever could. If this offensive line can get better, I think this offense ends up being one of the best in the country. Especially the way Martinez is looking. He's throwing the ball really really well. I'm impressed.
  5. The coaches will have a scheme ready for this game, but Michigan and Denard Robinson remind me a lot of the Tyrod Taylor led Virginia Tech. VT beat us both times we played them and it always seemed that Tyrod was able to extend a play or use his feet to make a play when VT needed it. I could see us winning this game but likely, being in such a hostile environment in Michigan and the way Denard can make plays, I see us losing a close one. Our defensive line has been one of the weakest parts of this team (injuries haven't helped), I think Michigan is the type of team that can expose us. If the coaches are smart, they really cut loose the reins on Lavonte David and make sure he has Denard Robinson in his sight all day long.
  6. Offensive line and defensive line. Both have got to make vast improvements.
  7. I agree about the offensive line for sure. We don't look like a very tough, physical and surely not an aggressive bunch up front. I also wanted to mention that I feel the exact same way about our defensive line. Where the hell are these guys this year? Let's get this thing going guys. We were in prime position before that loss to Northwestern. Let's not let this hole get bigger.
  8. You know, I read various topics about these so called 'future stars' we have with some of the young talent on our team. I'd just like to put a thread out there about a young man that has really impressed this year and not gotten a lot of attention for it. This guy is probably the most passionate badass player on this team. He is always rallying the team trying to get guys fired up. He plays like he hates the guy across from him, and the guys mother for giving birth to him. He has always been a good blocker in my opinion, but his pass catching ability is really overlooked by a lot of people simply because we have really not used the TE's a lot this year. That said, every time the ball goes his way he catches it, atleast from what I've seen. I appreciate this guys effort and his heart. I wish more guys brought the fire to the field like Ben does. That's my piece. I'd like to add that I think this guy is one of the surest future NFL players we have on this team.
  9. Christianity preaches that there is only one true judge. One true judge that all of mankind will face when their life ends. Is it not sinful to put yourself in the Lord's place by taking it upon yourself to judge others? Who is anyone to judge what a true Christian is? You may think your doing everything the Lord wants of you, but if you are going around pointing out those who you don't think are living up to these so called standards, you may be the one who faces a harsher reality when you are judged by the one and only Judge.
  10. Awesome! They make a beer called the Edmund Fitzgerald! Sad event, awesome song.
  11. I don't always drink beer.....but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis. For those who have not tried it, I really suggest trying it. I got hooked on it. A bit of humor here worth a good laugh. Not really funny for somebody who does something like beating their wife, but for a guy like me who thinks men who fight women or children are pussies, well then I think its funny.
  12. I think what this McQueary did could be considered as quite a bit more offensive than what Paterno is guilty of. I mean, both guys deserve to be fired, but hell, this McQueary guy witnessed this disgusting act actually happening and ran out of the room like a pathetic little girl. What kind of coward piece of garbage doesn't get in there and beat the piss out of that 60 year old perverted filth excuse for a human being. I have to be honest with you all, I'd like to strap on the 4 oz. gloves and step into the octagon with these a$$hole$ for a round.
  13. The more information I'm seeing, it seems like canceling this game is really being considered. How long could they possibly wait to do that?
  14. My sentiments exactly. This is a business trip. That's it. Handle your business, avoid the bullsh#t, take the W and get the hell out of there.
  15. Pelini is always preaching this 'us against the world' mentality to the Husker team. Well this weekend there will be two teams with that same mentality. Penn State will be pissed off and coming for blood. I don't doubt it a bit that those players are going to hit us harder than we've been hit all year. Gut check time for the Big Red. Do we have the balls to hit back?
  16. I completely agree. If he coaches Saturday, it will be the first time in my lifetime that looking at an opposing coach on the sidelines will make me physically sick. This guy could have done something to save some kids from going through hell.....having their lives ruined. Instead he chose to turn the other cheek. That pedophile was working out in the school's facilities last week! How the hell does something so sick and unhuman just be allowed to go on?
  17. When it comes to children being abused like this and the giant cover up that followed I would say Penn State made this everyone's problem. They could have handled this properly when it was immediately founded. Instead they have have in a lot of ways tarnished the sport of college football, which a majority of this country loves and respects. They have also tarnished the trust that comes with parents intrusting their children to a highly respected man in a position of a coach or mentor. The fact that we play them this Saturday, with our team and fans traveling to a place that is surrounded by negative publicity, negative fans, and reporters from every corner of the country, I'd say makes us directly involved. Just because you won't be up there Saturday, or you don't seem interested in what happened, doesn't mean this disgusting act by the major figures of this University isn't a problem the world of college football fans wouldn't concern themselves with. Some of us give a f#*k about what this guy did, and how he spit on the sport.
  18. If there is a threat to the safety of the team or the safety of traveling Husker fans then this game should be forfeited by Penn State. I think there is legitimate concern for us going up there. There is some highly emotional people surrounding that program right now. I mean emotional in both directions. Some highly supportive of the University and others who want to see that place torn to the ground and rebuilt. Both of those groups can probably have some radical reactions to their opposition on Saturday. I just hope no Nebraska players or fans are caught up in the release of these Penn State fans emotions. This whole thing could get very ugly fast. With 105,000 in attendance, we would have nowhere to go. We would not be able to get out of there fast enough. I might be concerned for no reason but I am truly concerned right now for the safety of this team and our fans. I think if Paterno was removed from his position immediately it would certainly make this situation a bit less scary.
  19. Good for Dillard and Pierre. Please update if you happen to hear where Pierre went. Glad for both these guys though. Great former Husker representatives.
  20. Jamal Turner, Aaron Green, Ameer Abdullah and Braylon Heard. That kind of athletic ability on this team, and all of it sitting on the bench says a lot about this staff in my opinion. I'm not abandoning ship on this coaching staff, but the fact that none of these coaches can find a way to use these fellas abilities says a lot about their abilities to coach.
  21. I think we have talent up front. This read and react stuff has to go. Let the boys get after it sometimes. That's what defensive lineman are for.
  22. God only knows how many lives this POS has damaged. I hope he pays the ultimate price when he meets his judgement. That said, Penn State should face the highest penalties ever enforced upon a program.
  23. By the looks of things.....I'd say Nebraska has a young football team. Maybe some of them young guys should be getting on the field a bit more to build on game experience for the future of this team. I know it's a space aged thought, but many coaches find it very valuable. I will repeat myself over and over on these boards folks...........lower your expectations a bit. Your setting yourselves up for disappointment. Nebraska is not going to win them all. Not for a long time. Hopefully we reach the point where we at least don't lose games like the one we lost yesterday. Lots of youth on this team though, no doubt about it.
