  1. I'm actually pretty excited about next year. Sure we are losing a lot of starters on defense, but the d was pretty awful this year. so maybe some fresh blood will spark something good. it honestly can't get too much worse. And with the offense together another year continuing to make strides, i can see a 1-2 loss season going into the conference championship again. hell, might even go undefeated going into the conference championship game if the young defense shows some life.
  2. Do we even practice during the week? i don't think i've seen a team this consistently bad in the first half of games since coach eric taylor's dillon panthers.. fortunately, we are only down 4, and we are a damn fine team in the 2nd half. i don't see any problems pulling this one out.
  3. taylor is actually at 2630 rushing yards, with 3 games left this season, i don't think its unrealistic to think he could be at 6700 passing and 2800 yards rushing, (187 passing yards and 57 rushing yards per game.) by seasons end. so a good season 2300 passing and 1200 rushing, would put him at 9000 passing and 4000 rushing. hell, if he finishes this season really strong, he could be at 6800-6900 passing and 2900 rushing by the end of the season, which means a really great, heisman kind of season, like 3100-3200 passing and 1100 rushing, could put him at 10000 passing and 4000 rushing. which is insane!
  4. He better put on some weight then... 6'5" 195? Even at 6'1" 205, Martinez is more of a Tebow-style athlete than Starling is. Don't see the point of using Starling in that role. I'd rather see him in the slot, like we used Bobby Newcombe his freshman year. To be fair, Martinez was only like 175 his sr year of high school, and now he's 205. So it's not unfathomable to see starling putting on 30-35 pounds and becoming a bruising type of runner..
  5. Most former players won't qualify - the Statute of Limitations will limit that. Most Statutes of Limitations are three years - meaning, if the kid didn't file within three years of their likeness first being used by EA, they're barred from doing so. Ed O'bannon is a plaintiff in the case, and his "likeness" was back in the 8-bit days.... bald and not as good as his brother Charles??
  6. I had a guy who looked just like me foo! Except he was 3 inches taller, 30 pounds skinnier and athletic.. Other than that we were identical!!
  7. Analysts must be running out of things to talk about. All this talk about how fairley is as good if not better than suh has to be a joke right?!? Has the college football world gone mad? This is as bad as comparing McCoy to suh...
  8. The fact is Cody stepped up in the pocket, went through his read progression and found that open guy. While Martinez looked at the first option, the froze when that option wasn't open, turned his back downfield and took a sack.. At least Cody is getting to the point where he finds the open guy. It's a step in the right direction
  9. Haha I live in Canada... It would be no safer for him here..
  10. Same here. And I had the best era in my slo pitch league last season.
  11. I'd personally rather sputter in the national championship game than sputter against a 6-6 team that isn't ranked in the top 100 in defense...
  12. I agree. I thought Cody did a very good job of managing the Colorado game, hes much better at that than Martinez.I also think he would have been successful last night running the same game plan. I agree. Cody stepped up in the pocket, looked at more than one receiver and found the open man. He just didn't have the accuracy to hit that open man most of the time. But at least he got to that point. Taylor never got past turning his back downfield when faced with any sort of pressure and taking a sack..
  13. How many times is Cody green gonna get thrown under the bus by this staff?? Just throw him in at his own 1 and see what happens..
  14. NO!!! REALLY?! You people really form some idiotic opinions sometimes. You honestly think he would refuse to be on the sidelines because he likes the pressbox better? He prefers the pressbox because it lets him see the game better, which helps him call plays better. I don't think it has anything to do with the air-conditioning, or whatever you think it is. He publically stated last year he prefers the box because of playcalling, but he was on the sidelines for the end of last year to be there for Green when he needed help. I don't understand how some of you are clueless enough to actually think he would knowlingly do something to hurt the team. Maybe we're better with him on the sidelines, maybe we're not; that's not the point. The point is that Shawn Watson thinks we're better when he's in the press box, and he knows a helleva lot more about the offense than any of you morons. Why not be on the sidelines to help your star QB when he makes mistakes? We've had like 30 fumbles this year so don't tell me he is doing what he can. Also illegal formations late in the year. Also complete bs. This was all season long and was any of this ever fixed by Watson? NO! We have had a defensive presence on the sideline since Bo but nothing on offense other than Bo. So don't give me this he's doing what is best cause he is clearly not. Wasnt he on the sidelines for some games last year. I remember it being torwards the end of the year, because he wanted communicate with his QBs better. Yah. But why would a coach who counts "quarterbacks coach" among his job titles want to communicate with his quarterbacks better???(aww, I can't put a sarcastic face on with my I phone)
  15. And nobody would be able to throw against!
  16. The "i" would be great, but burkhead and helu wouldn't be in the backfield at the same time anyway. Like zoogies said, the only way for the two backs to be in is a two back shotgun. Which would be sweet, a zone read triple option would be awesome. I think having legate in as a lead blocker in the "I" would be effective, he does that job very well. My only problem with the "I" is Martinez. I think we can all agree that his footwork isnt great. I dont think watching him drop back every pass play would be pretty..
  17. Would we be looking at Scott frost if he wasn't a husker? Probably not. But since he was. and we know about his outstanding character as a player, coupled with his success so far in his coaching career. He does deserve consideration. And for the people who think that Scott frost as a football player is irrelevant to Scott frost the football coach. You're being foolish. The great work ethic, dedication and intelligence that made him a great player are certainly transferable characteristics for being a great coach.. It's definitely not all that matters, but they are great assets.
  18. Might I recommend a couple of classic movie solutions? 1. Someone get drunk and go all Tim McGraw on some players. Duct tape a football to the boys hands and start wailing on it. "CAN YOU HOLD ON TO THE FOOTBALL?!" 2. The darnell Jefferson from the program; give the players a football to keep with them at all times. Their teammates instructed to try and take that football. If anyone else comes back to coach with that football. All hell will break loose. It worked in the movies...
  19. You forgot these. Actually, i didn't. Note the part where i said that's pelini's career at the point he first became a defensive coordinator at nebraska. Which is the point of comparing his career to frost's career now, given that we are debating whether or not frost has enough experience to be a coordinator..
  20. I don't know if that's the million dollar question, but it's at least the $100,000 question... I really really really want to know what is being coached there. I was thinking the same thing. Even when he was healthy, I don't recall many times that taylor ran the entire year when it wasn't a designed run. Seems odd not seeing more scrambles from a player with that kind of speed.
  21. We called a screen right at the beginning of the game yesterday and the defensive end almost intercepted it... i don't remember there being any blockers out in front. i think that may have just been a swing pass... not sure though.
  22. Pelini's resume directly from wikipedia. Long post, so be wary... Scott Frost's Coaching career... That's a pretty significant difference, imho. Frost has a lot to prove before becoming a coordinator. Well the size makes it look like alot more when there's a paragraph for each of bo's positions and a sentence for each of scott's. here is what it would really look like Bo Pelini 1991- graduate assistant at iowa 1993- qb coach at cardinal mooney high 1994- hired by san fran 49ers as scouting assitant, promoted to assistant secondary coach. then promoted to db's coach in 1995 1997- hired by new england as a db's coach 2000- hired by green bay as a linebacker's coach This is pelini's career before being hired by nebraska as a defensive coordinator Now Scott frost 2002 - was a graduated assistant for nebraska 2007- hired as a graduate assistant at kansas state. 2007- Hired by the university of northern iowa as a linebacker's coach, was then promoted to co-defensive coordinator 2009- hired by the university of oregon as the wide receiver's coach Bo was definitely more experienced when he was hired as the d-coordinator than scott is now, but the difference isn't a huge as the paragraphs would make it seem. I personally would like to see scott come to nebraska as a wr or qb coach before getting a crack at a coordinator position here, but that's just me, and i wouldn't be opposed to him getting a look now. edit: my bad, i forgot to put in bo's time at iowa and at cardinal mooney high.. 2nd edit: scott also held graduate assistant positions
