  1. I posted a good write up in another thread about how easy it musta been as DC preparing for Nebraska knowing our issues with solid qb play in the passing game, as well as the holes that became across the oline throughout the year. it's about tendancies and matchups folks. What was there about our offense that defenses had to respect and be ready for at all times that would create a constraint for another aspect? There was nothing. Nothing we did, whether it be scheme or talent or whatever, forced a defense to devise a plan around any particular aspect of our offense. Nothing we did was done with any sort of consistency or great success. And it's a mixed bag as to what's to blame. it's little bit of everything. OC in ability to really coach and teach a style of offense that suits your qb. Lack of talent and depth on oline, which became massive problem when injuries hit. QB play in the pass game. Lack of offensive fit for players. There's still a lot there. That's why sometimes these things take time.
  2. And ive said this multiple times. And it's so accurate. And i guess i dont see you could spend 3 hours a weekend (or in my case, 10, lol) watching our team, and not see that while we have talented player in spots, we're not an overly talented team. We have holes. glaring holes. This is not a new revelation. it's been an issue for year. it's not a Bo thing. it's not a Riley thing. yeah. Bo's lack of recruiting prowess (though depending on perception, is worse to some than others) left us with current holes on the front lines and at qb. That's an inarguable fact. Thats why in not being like the NFL, unless youre a perennially talented team in the "reload" eshelon of college ball, immediate turnaround success is hard to do. Not to mention when you come in and completely flip upside down the systems utilized by the previous staff, on both sides of the ball and completely change the intangible culture. But some of the issues we still have are not a result of Pelini or Riley exclusively. A lot of it is Nebraska problems that have been a problem for a decade.
  3. Weird, we had multiple First-Team guys every year in the Big Ten before Riley. We've only had one (Foltz) since. Legit take. But it may not be all because of Riley. Not gonna say none. But these postseason All-??? teams are about success of a teams. We can be honest and say no one really stood out on our team this year and caugh anyone's eye. And obviously the really good teams and stories like Ohio St, Michigan, and Penn St are gonna have multiple folks. These lists are not a gauge for talent or lack of talent of a particular team. Should clarify this list is 1st and 2nd teamers. Steinkuhler and Compton were 2nd team in 2012 as well. So you see the trend. The year we made Indy is the year we had the most. We had the best conference record outsdie of an ineligible Ohio St.
  4. Trumps heading to Indiana today. Make Purdue great again??
  5. I agree. Just pointing out differences in mindset. Just on this very board It is never enough. I for one am one that thinks honoring veterans should never come second. it should never be trumped by complacency or entitlement. I am hypocritical because I know dont do enough myself. But i know in my heart, i am grateful. Thankful. I went to the minnosota game and got to sit next to an old fella who was korean vet. The miliatary stuff at that game (the veterans day game) moistened my eyes quite a bit. I will always argue for the national anthem to be done before athletic competition. I dont care why it was written or what it means and all that literall technical hub bub. it's what it stands for. And the fact that all the kneeling for the anthem actually led to discussions that for the sake, the anthem shouldnt be sung anymore really irks me. We are forgetting where we come from and went through. This sense of entitlement and complacency in this country is running rampant. Never forget. All this is about always recognizing why we are able to gather for these fabulous events in the first place. Anytime i watch a big game on TV or a Super Bowl's anthem singing or halftime, i always sit and think how fortunate we are that we get to enjoy these things. Best place on earth. So why not recognize the real reason's why?
  6. So we now have threads that say we do too much military stuff at games. And now a thread that says it isnt enough. Gotta love Merica 2016
  7. I agree with this. Without any kind of evidence or proof, this smacks of sour grapes more than a concern about constitutional protections. We do verify votes already, though. The process is being finalized in dozens of states as we speak. Yeah. Wasnt it announced like Michigan just finally went official this morning or yesterday or something?
  8. If youre gonna recount, then recount them all. all 50 states. Careful what you wish for.
  9. I'm not sure what to think about Stewart. On one hand, I don't know how much he can be blamed for what goes on during games as he can only work within Banker's scheme. However, he hasn't seemed to do anything to distinguish himself either. Not much on the recruiting front either (so far). its not a blind defense of Banker but rather a "why are some so extreme negative about him?" type of deal. I dont get it. We saw improvements on defense even after losing two legit DT's. I'm actually anxious to see where the defense goes as we continue to develope defensive lineman. it starts up front. In ending. I was just pointing out a misinformed hypocrisy. "Banker's gotta gotta go cuz he sucks. But Stewart can stay cuz the secondary improved" when actually, in fact....... Yeah, I agree with that last point. Perhaps I hadn't seen people defending Stewart so much. it was just a point made above. Someone wanted Banker gone but stewart could stay cuz the secondary showed improvement. you know me. I'm quick to point out stupidities in things.
  10. I see CM got that turbo installed on his merry-go-round.
  11. actually the facebook thing was in regards to POB by someone else. As far as Lee goes, I'll still take the word over our coaches with proven records of evaluation who wanted him. That's my serious take.

  13. That and the fact that Bo's still trying to overcome the Callahan problem left by Billy C at Youngstown st.
  14. you mean you actually watched the film? I thought we were supposed to take the word of a guy known by a guy who's freind was on facebook that Lee wasnt very good, and that Obrien wasnt as good as advertised.
  15. This forum's ignore function is basically useless. not to mention that little teaser everytime they post. I had forgotten about that stupid ass feature "such-n-such has posted. would you like to view it?" Dont ppl know my self control is on a very low level?
  16. it's pretty black and white whether youre an apostrophist or not and what you actually stand for. I stand for the National Anthem. Knapp'lc has a good ring to it.

  18. also. i finally used our sketchy ignore function on cm. Can you ppl quit quoting it please?
  19. Not this sh#t again.... Yeah cuz it isnt true.
  20. yep Tommy needs to execute but maybe give him plays he executes better? That can be really hard to do if you are accustomed to a certain way if doing things and it can definitely handcuff the offense the the rail of a sinking ship, as we saw athe times this year. This will be offensive, so im not gonna say "no offense", but it's the brutal honest truth. This is what the folks say who arent as football smart as others. And not necessarily pertaining to you. Just a generalization as we see this all the time. "Run tommy 30 times. Give him stuff he can handle". It's not as simple as "give him stuff he can execute better". This is the result of not being well rounded ENOUGH. When a defense can plan and play against you and know youre pretty much one dimensional, it's really hard. yeah, we could do things he's more comfortable with more often, but if those things are being keyed on to the point of very little success, whats the sweet spot that an OC can find? Do you keep ramming the square peg into the round hole? Or do you try the round peg that simply doesnt fit in the round hole? doesn't hurt my feelings, I agree with you. In fact that's exactly what I was saying. If your QB can't execute a bunch of plays in your playbook it is going to make you very uncomfortable as a play caller and also it makes what you do very basic and easy to stop. That's why the first sentence was a question followed by an explanation that what people want Langs to do not only is difficult for Langs but makes the offense anemic Jesus. I see it now. LOL.
  21. Team A has zero turnovers, rushes 31 times and passes 37 times. Team B goes 3/13 on third down with only 144 yards passing and had 7 penalties for 70 yards. Who won?

      Thats nothing. Try this:

      Team A: 137 rush, 296 pass, 7/16 on 3rd down

      Team B: 153 rush, 97 pass, 0/9 on 3rd down

  22. im actually pretty excited to see what comes out of his meeting with the governor. As much as I disagreed with the platform he used, it was his right. I know it's been debated up and down. Since it's become an irrelevant thing. But what I really appreciated was how he came out like a grown ass man on monday with his statement and was very mature in explaining the issue to him and why he did what he did. it was different than kaepernick who at this point is straight up trolling. The piggy socks. The castro sh#t. kaepernicks as doosh. Rose-Ivey is a very mature and well-thought man beyond his age that i can listen to. But, as this issue kinda disappeared as the year went on, you'll never convince me that behind closed doors this whole deal was asked to be squashed for the remainder of the season for the sake of the team. Whether it was coaches, players, or Michael himself being man enough to see (this wouldnt surprise me at all) how this might distract the team too much, and for teh sake of the team to put it aside. Remember, he had a deal set with the Gov, then decided to push it back to after the season.
  23. Someone Banker gone cuz apparently the defense sucks. But wants Stewart to stay cuz the secondary got much better. Yet it's ignored that Banker probably had just as much if not more to do with secondary improvemtn by handling the safeties this year than Stewart did. So that's fun logic.
  24. And this is what I liked about the Maryland game. (Full disclosure it appeared in that game that Fyfe was a significantly more accurate QB in that he made "easy throws" and was able to throw so as to allow YAC). Langs dialed up a game plan to throw to the edges and boundaries to get their LB's out of the box and play sideline to sideline. Fyfe threw well (and often enough) that the front 7 had to cover it all....run game, edge, swing passes, screens etc...... As you mentioned above if you were DC, TA has locked on and failed to progress through his reads for 4 years...... Whisky really exploited his issues in the throw to a spot play. The deflected several passes. Through film they realized he throws to a spot on routes and truly doesn't see the field (or the LB sitting under the route). I'm not a fan of Langs as he has, IMO, shown an inability to counter a more physical or a more athletic D. Of course better QB play i.e. one who can hit passing 101 routes...... an OL that can actually pull to run counters, misdirection etc....So he probably deserves another year to get a passing QB in to the system. (Same with Banker another year with DL improvement) As far as the team caring, I look back to the fiasco that was our blowout loss to Wisky on the jet sweep. Earlier in the season, NU shut it down cold. In the B1G, too many guys went of script and tried to do it "their" way. Maybe film break down will show that against Iowa. Guys were playing the "scheme", that first long run, it broke down..... These things stand out to me. It's difficult for even the most genius of offensive minds to counter more physical and/or more athletic defenses. it's harder against really good defenses cuz theyre' really good, and usually better. Instead of worrying about how we can do against better teams, what we have to do is take care of us and get better. So that the instances of facing such scenario is not as many. That we are at very worst even in most games.
