  1. I caught that too when I was wathing the 83 orange bowl and mike knox was playing, and it just didnt add up.
  2. I apologize if this repeats a previous comment, I havent read thru all of them. I am a firm believer in practicing like it's a game. These quarterbacks need all the reps they can get when there is the possibility of getting hit so they can develop a knack of throwing under pressure when theyre not a 100% sure theyre NOT getting hit. It's like what d-lineman were taught during the Callahan year, to NOT put your hands up when the quarterback was throwing during practice so as not to disrupt the timing of the patterns in practice. WHAT THE HELL GOOD DOES THAT DO? You think opposing d-lineman in a game are gonna keep your hands down for you?
  3. "We kicked off, they scored. IM Hipp fumbled on the first play, they scored again. At the time I was standing next to a freshman linebacker, Mike Knox from Castle Rock [Colorado]. I turn and say 'what are we gonna do' and Mike says 'coach, this is Colorado.' " Screen shows final score Nebraska 52, Colorado 14 currently my favorite commercial right ahead of Devany tellin McBride about the cowpies and the Brutal Honesty.
  4. Why does everyone have to be such a Debbie Downer? There will be a much improved offense and a defense that will be just as good that simply wont HAVE to be. I'll be surprised if we lose a game. Callahan is gone. The players and coaches have the swagger back, now it's time for ALL the fans to get theirs back. We belong at the top and we know it, so lets start acting like we expect it as opposed to wondering if we're gonna wind up like Mississippi.
  5. Deserve to get screamed at? I think he was just asking when the 5 second rule was changed to 4. I've never ever seen such a thing. Pretty funny how Henry started his dribble right as the whistle was blown. Common sense says 5 second calls are only called after the dribble is picked, looked pretty obvious Sek knew how much time he had and that was an extremely fast 5 seconds. Bottom line is just like in any other basketball game, refs have to protect the Big 12's top seeds. This year that's KSU KU and TexASS
  6. I don't think he is a bad coach. He can obviously coach though, look at his career besides Nebraska. I see it differently. Starting with the loss of the Super Bowl that he got to with Gruden's team. Continuing on with completely loosing his Raider team the next year. Then his incompetantcy while he was here at Nebraska. This guy has never been anything but a fairly good assistant coach. He F'd up my Raidersw and he F'd up my Huskers. There is no forgiving him for these screw ups. T_O_B Raiders fan and a Husker fan? Talk about goin one extreme to the other.
  7. UNTIL THIS YEAR....... Watson was doing a great job with the offense, he had earned his money. The offense was producing ON THE FIELD. Carl's defense was not even close to what it was this year, so technically until the 09 season ended, Carl had not exactly earned much of a raise, the reason Watson's was so small, cuz he didnt get the job done this year. Was Carl underpaid? Yes IN HINESIGHT. Not to mention Bo has as much if not more control of the defense as Carl.
  8. My question is if we wore all white or all red Jerseys, how would you make out the numbers or names? The all reds were worn in an Oklahoma home game in 1986 I think it was, a loss, again. All whites were worn in 1992 in a road loss at Washington (29-14), a 34-24 win @ Missouri (Frazier's first start), and 19-10 loss at Iowa St. in 1992, and then the most recent the Surrender Bowl in Boulder in 2007. I would like to see all reds here in there agains, esp. not the all whites, I like having the red stripes back on the pants, but 2002 was disgusting. I just would hate to turn into an Oregon with 18.26 different uniform combinations. That there is my uni-ography in a nutshell.
  9. I guess i dont see the big deal, it is THEE most boring time of year when it comes to college football. I would say on 4th and what was it?, 17? against Auburn in the Cotton Bowl and deciding to go for it instead of giving your very accurate former top kicker recruit a shot at a 47 yard field goal to tie. I think that was worse than the fake punt call, which had they held on to the ball, woulda been a TD.
  10. No lie, i'm a big koolaid drinker. Always have been. Even with Callahan, i thought 07, Nebraska would be a sleeping NC contender. Always thought the team would be good. What I see is over the last 8 years, is the fanbase has become so accustomed to dissappointment that some of us are a bit timid in raising the expectations to where they belong. This place is special, because it's more about a mentality than x's and o'x and recruits. I dont know about anyone else but before 02, I would watch games with no concern, always felt like we would find a way to win. Thruout 02, that feeling took a sudden change, and ever since I've been sittin on my hands waiting for something bad to happen. That feeling dissappeared about the middle of the 4th qtr against Oklahoma last year and havent watched a game since that I felt like we would get beatin. I think the entire program (i mean players, coaches, students, alumni, THE ENTIRE STATE) has returned to a pre-2002 mentality. We're back folks, time to sit back and enjoy and throw ALL worries to the wind.
  11. Walter-according to Knapplc

  12. Independence could be devastating for us i think, it's hard enuff as it is for us to shedule non-conference games as it is with only 4 to pull-off much less all 12. I cant get over Colorado in the pac-10, they have no athletic consistence to provide, as bad as i want them out the the Big 12, the pac 10 is not the place for them, they belong in the WAC or Mountain west or the Ski Belt or somethin. I just cant conceive texas leaving for any reason other than wanting the talk about them and getting something to stay.
  13. Oh yes, not saying there werent issues, and i'm sure the coaches knew it after the Va Tech game, realize it more after the Missouri game, and then during the Texas Tech game it became evident there was a seroius problem, but the Iowa St. game intrigues cuz if we turn the ball over only 5 times instead of 8, simple, we win the game, probable rather handily. But against Oklahoma, K-State, hell even Baylor and Colorado, 3 to 4 turnovers resulst in L's. After that many mistakes, it was clear to the coaches that the offense had to get VERY VERY conservative and not blow it. I think it saved the season.
  14. Call me what you want but looking back, had we found a way to at least squeeze out a FG or Td in that game,is it possible that we continue with the kind of offensive scheme what was hurting us at the time and end up losing games against Oklahoma, Kansas, maybe even Kansas St. and Colorado because of mistakes by the offense or would it have not mattered. I believe if we held on to the ball a couple times and wound up with a 21 or even 24 to 9 win, a few huge offensive problems would've remain hidden and the off plan wouldve continued to be less conservative causing huge problems and later games.
  15. It's no secret that Texas gets their way with lot in the Big 12, i say this latest piece of sh#t and playing talks with the Big 10 is another ploy at not only publicity but to get even more on their plate, esp. when Dan Beebe already said they'd do whatever it takes to keep their teams. Seriously, i'm stirrin sh#t here and i wanna know what others think. Is it possible that with all the positive publicity Nebraska is getting again that Texas and even the Big 12 for that matter needed to come up with something to put the attention back on TexASS and the conference. I have read a hell of a lot more than not that Texas has instigated the talks with the Big 10 and Dike and Mike in the morning really put a lot of steam behind this this morning (the talks with Big 10 that is, not my crazy ass conspiracy theory)
  16. As do I, but don't be mistakin, Trev Alberts has plenty of passion for this University. I miss his passionate arguments with Puke May on ESPN over Nebraska topics. It was always funny how Mark would try to "talk down" to Trev like he didnt know anything about Nebraska football. Hmmm.
  17. Well if Texas really is instigating talks, and Dan Booby (Big 12 Commish) has already been quoted as saying they will to anything to keep teams in the conference, it's probably just some huge scam in order to give TexASS even more advantages within the conference. Gotta give'em somethin since Colt is gone.
  18. For one, Trev was not an ESPN stooge. He didnt fit in there, hence he's not there anymore. Trev Alberts is going to be the next athletic director at UNL, beins he's already in training at UNO for the position. Tom has had a great impact and he surely feels this is his last gasp at great accomplishments, seeing thru that the football programs is back at the top, and to see thru the new basketball arena project and then he will step down on his own terms. As far as teams leaving the Big 12, i just dont think any of that is going to happen.
  19. It does not make any sense to me at all. Any extra revenue for the University is gonna be spent on additional travel expenses any way. Seriuosly, and this is for any sport. Instead of College Station, TX it's State College, PA. Instead of Lubbock TX its Columbus OH. Instead of Waco, TX it's Minneapolis. WTF.
  20. Can we please get all these Pelini threads combined into one, it's junkin up the board.
  21. One issue with your comment sir/ma'am. We're Nebraska, not Ole Miss, or as I call em, Mississippi.
  22. I remember that comment by Bo, the outbacker was supposed to blitz on that side, had he done so he'd a dumped Gabbert for a 5 yard loss, hence 27-5, or 2. Other issue, Gabbert really doesnt need to grow balls to be an NFL qb, you cant touch them guys anyway.
  23. All that "expert" ( ) football talk comes from a site that has a ticker counting down to 20000 wins for basketball. What a shot of irony. I'm just glad they set it straight that Nebraska only has the 3rd best defense in the conference as opposed to the best in the nation like everyone else in the country was calling them. In this area we make a lot of jokes mocking Kansas intelligence, now i know why.
  24. Source? Link? I can't just can't believe Tom had Bo at one point, much less Bo have to capability to tell a joke that would cause the loss of composure on Osborne's part. I'm sorry but i just can't partake in this without a link and/or source. I'm sorry. I don't have a link but you have to admit that I have a pretty reliable source.. I mean, Bo Pelini's Second cousin's wife's hair stylist's gardener! How can you get any closer to the situation? I think everyone can agree that it's almost like hearing it from Bo or T.O. themself. But it's just a gardener, theyre outside all the time, could be missing a bunch of info. Now if it had been say, a maid, or housesitter, or even a broomstick, it would make all that more believeable.
