  1. If we do run some type of formation like Okie St. did last night, I think you put Robinson at the back. He's had trouble with the Zone Read this year, and just seems like he'd do better running downhill over sideways in the zone read. I do see us doing more screens, WR and RB (with Burkhead), but overall what we've seen from the offense so far is what we'll see the rest of the year.
  2. There should be no problem with Robinson choosing Notre Dame over Nebraska. Sure Bo's turned the program around since he's been here, but we weren't looking to hot when Robinson's class signed.
  3. Just talked about how Nebraska's going to be auctioning off game worn jerseys from the Texas game on the 16th as a fundraiser for the Athletic Department and how it relates to AJ Green (Georgia WR) got suspended for selling his game worn jersey for 1000 dollars to an agent and how their different. It mostly turned into a discussion about how major universities use a player to earn a billion dollars and those players hardly see anything outside of their scholarships. Nothing too bad and nothing that hasn't been talked about a ton of times before. Nothing bad said about Nebraska, just that the fans would love to buy them. Also talked about the CEO to assistant coach story that ran in SI in their choose a word game. Kornheiser picked Second-Act and Wilbon picked Scriptworthy.
  4. I'm fine with Forde picking Nebraska to lose to Texas, but to have the score be 13-12 just reaks of unprofessionalism. It's just looking for a reaction. Not cool Pat, not cool.
  5. It comes from the fact that if you use the person's name you are contractually obliged to pay them for using their likeness. Sure they already are using their likeness, but they could tweak the legal fiction to say that they aren't using that specific person.
  6. Don't think Europe has a sustainable interest in Football, but I'm sure a couple games a year over there (less than 5) would keep them interested enough to sell the games out.
  7. With Thenarse it could be because he isn't comfortable with his ball skills and would rather go for the safe play in tackling the guy over giving up the long touchdown. We've always known that Thenarse went and laid the wood on people ever since he was a freshman on the kick-off coverage team. Wouldn't be surprised if a light gets turned on and he starts playing nearly to the level O'Hanlon was playing at last year (Matty was playing absolutely lights out since after Iowa St.). It's great to see him playing after the ACL tear last year, and to be part of a D-Backfield that already has 10 ints through 4 games and has been talked about as being one of the best ever at Nebraska is something special.
  8. Really think Woodhead's in a position to excel at in New England. He really wasn't going anywhere with the Jets, too many people ahead of him, but now he's getting some PT he's going to show just how good he is.
  9. Were SDSU preparing for this game from the start of the season? Find it somewhat hard to believe that they lose to the teams they played if they were playing like they did tonight. They came in jacked up and popped us in the mouth, we responded with those two quick touchdown drives but then left off of the accelerator almost to the point that they slammed on the brakes. I'm not worried about our inspiration going into the Big XII schedule, I have faith in Bo, I'm more worried about our freshman QB going forward.
  10. As good as we looked against Washington, that's how bad we've looked today. It just sounds like we've been uninterested against a team that's been playing inspired. If there's something I'll take out of this game is that we weren't ready for this game. We weren't ready for the intensity that SDSU came out with. I'm not worried at the moment, if we pull the same crap against K-State then I'll start worrying about the rest of our season.
  11. Really what we need to do is put 8 guys in the box every play and make Coffman beat us, and I'm not sure he has the ability to do that or the players besides Thomas to pull it off. I really think that outside of Texas no team on our schedule will be able to stop our running game. I'll take our o-line against every d-line in the North and the majority of the d-lines of the South (Texas and Oklahoma the only ones).
  12. I've been wanting Turner to be our own little Percy Harvin ever since Martinez has shown that he can be our starting QB this year. Give him all the chances to win the starting QB job (best player gets to play) but if he doesn't win it, utilize him like Florida did Percy Harvin.
  13. I'm questioning whether or not Robinson can be a Zone Read back. I think he'd be fine if we were lining up in the I-formation or single back, like we did a lot last year. He's just having trouble translating to running the Zone Read, there's a couple of notes on him in both the LJS and OWH about him.

  15. Nebraska wouldn't have gone 13-1 and to a BCS bowl if we had started Martinez last year. There was a reason why he was on Scout team and red-shirting instead of playing. My guess is that he was probably a spectacular runner last year, but didn't know enough of the play book or wasn't nearly as good as a passer. There was just too many other things going on with the offense that just inserting Martinez wouldn't have fixed. First of all we'd be even more one sided than before, and the fact that pretty much every single O-lineman was a walking wounded, no consistent WR threat. Oh sure we probably don't lose the Iowa State game, and there's a chance we pull out the Va Tech game, but it's hard to see the Texas game going any different.
  16. Don't think we're going to have the K/P be double duty next year. Going to be one punter and one kicker, but other than that I like the second lineup.
  17. Of course I want him to compete for the QB job, but I'm saying the loser between him and T-Mart move over and produce in a Percy Harvin type roll.
  18. I'd really like to see Turner get on the field in any way possible. Maybe if Martinez is still the starter put him in a type of Percy Harvin role, but with a greater chance for him to take a snap and throw. Have him line up in the backfield with Martinez, Burkhead, and Aaron Green (knocking on wood), and people won't know what to do on defense. I'm really excited to see him come up here.
  19. Load up 8 guys in the box and dare Coffman to beat us. I don't think he can, and if we have three LBs plus Hagg as OLB/Covering the 3rd WR then I'm sure we'll stop Thomas.
  20. From what I've seen in his rankings is that he won't move someone up or down unless they give him a reason. Our win over Washington was impressive, but the question is just how good is Washington? Are they middle of the pack or at the bottom of the Pac-10? Sure we've been consistent in producing blow-outs, but there's also been enough questions in those blow-outs. At this point it seems like Oklahoma has the most impressive win (FSU by 30, but again we don't know how good FSU is), followed by Nebraska's win this past weekend, and Texas has been consistent in their mediocre wins. I don't know but at this point I'd put Nebraska in first in the Big XII because the poor play they've put forward can be attributed to disinterest in blowouts (outside of being soft up the middle). Then Oklahoma who has the most impressive win, but also has looked very mediocre in their other wins. And finally Texas who have just looked mediocre (outside of their defense).
  21. God Martinez needs some help with his pressers, he sounds like a 19 year old kid uncomfortable in front of the camera. He says what's on his mind, and that's okay, but someday I could see him getting in trouble because of it.
  22. I really think that in the coming years that we put the loser of the QB battle out of Martinez and Turner and make the guy into someone like Percy Harvin, a player that plays everywhere in the defensive backfield and uses his athleticism to break open big plays.
  23. They've played some poor teams, but there offense is amazing.
