  1. About the Boise game I thought it was more because if we added Boise to the schedule we'd be running the same kind of gauntlet that Miami did early in the year where they faced like 3/4 teams that were ranked. The schedule wouldn't look pretty for us, add to the fact the other reasons and I don't think we'd look to them for a game with them anytime soon.
  2. See him doing the same thing that Suh did last year. There's a draft scout company that evaluates you and rates where you'd go and gives you info on the draft and everything. It's like a step above what regular scouts do in giving them information. At least I think it's something like that, don't hold me to it if it's wrong.
  3. I think what we did during the Holiday Bowl is exactly what the coaches want to do with the offense. Add to the fact that Lee's arm injury severely hampered what we could do on offense (once it became clear that Green was a freshman QB) and changed it to fit with our strength (riding the defense). As long as we can get some depth on the line and some consistent WR and QB play I think we can look exactly like we did in the Holiday Bowl next year against top competition (with various degrees of success depending on the opponent) and not just against the Sun Belt.
  4. If she looked like Janet Reno I don't think we'd be seeing her all that much because she wouldn't have the job she has now. I don't really have a problem with it either. Sure it's objectifying sex, but when she's knowledgeable I don't see the problem.
  5. I thought Herbstreets biggest gripe wasn't the fact that the 95 team was in the final, it was because the 71 team had beaten teams he thinks they had no reason to beat. After that I think he was mostly anti-Nebraska no matter what.
  6. I'd look to see if he could redshirt next year. While Lee wasn't the best this year, that might've been because of his elbow injury that he fought through. Add to the fact that we have 2 players that redshirted this year for depth next year. I say if he isn't the clear number 1 heading into next year, don't play him in garbage time and see if he can redshirt.
  7. I was a lot more vocal during the Nebraska games this year. Probably because I watched all the ones that I could on my big screen alone and didn't feel embarrassed at all to be doing it.
  8. Sorry for the DP but completely different topic. Why is Tebow still in when the score is 44-17 with 8 minutes left? I know it's his last game, but you put him in for when you kneel to get his last curtain call, not for him to drive down for another touchdown. I don't know if it's classy or not, but it's something that doesn't sit well with me.
  9. Similar game to the Hawaii/Georgia game a couple years ago. A team that got by against weaker foes by outscoring them finds they can't score against a top defense, and since their defense has played awful for a while they can't seem to stop Florida's offense. BCS dropped the ball on the match-ups this year. Oregon/OSU was a good game, this game would've been better with either TCU or BSU (more likely TCU), and the Fiesta Bowl probably would've been better with either Cincinnati or Iowa against the other non-AQ team.
  10. I didn't really have a problem with Asante's celebration against Oklahoma. I thought it was clear that he didn't know that he had actually hurt the guy, he was just celebrating a hard hit on someone he expected to pop right back up. How many times has something similar to that happen and the receiver just shrugs it off and gets back to the huddle?
  11. Paul coming up gimpy who's going to step up? Oh yeah Touchdown Nebraska
  12. I think it was more of a bad pass over what Gilly could've done with it. Add to the fact that he saw it late, which is why he fell.
  13. Holding on both Suh and Crick on that last play blatant too
  14. Really don't think we're going to get him. If we're going to get a top-flight DE this class it'll be Owa or no-one.
  15. He's still too light. IIRC he was only playing at around 200 pounds this year. While that's good for a dime back to play outside backer when needed, it's not good enough for an every down Line Backer that does the things that Dillard did for the defense this year.
  16. I love Hagg, he just scares me when he's covering WR fly patterns because he can't seem to turn his head around. I think he'd be better reacting to things in front of him instead of running with receivers all the time. Gomes seems to be able to do the same things he does, but he has better coverage skills. Really I want to see how Green does at some point, there was an article in the Journal Star that said that Green was the closest freshman to be pulled off of the redshirt after Ankrah. Only because of the depth and lack of injuries did Green not make the field.
  17. He started dropping balls and just not producing, just like the rest of our receivers outside of Paul (and even then he was sketchy at times). The whole WR core had a bad year for various reasons.
  18. He made something of it with over 3600 total yards. He's also the season leader for receptions and yards receiving by a running back by a far and away margin (I think, but it's hard to believe that someone could some close to 70 receptions for 700 yards back in '07, maybe Ross came close one of his years, but it's hard to believe). While he didn't pan out the way he was supposed too, in a decade where there weren't any exceptional Nebraska Running Backs, he gets my nod. (not to knock Ross or anyone else it's just that Nebraska didn't have a great back that came close to what Green and some of the other backs that filled out the 90s for Nebraska)
  19. Exceptional interview. Good kid. Depending on how Ashburn does I think we should try to get at least one player from JC in recruiting every year. A High School that just bleeds success on the football field. You want winners because the know how to win. Great story about his brother, it's nice to see he has a driving force for his success and to keep his head on the level. I really want him to succeed now.
  20. I liked Zac Taylor and he's probably the number 2 QB of the decade for Nebraska (Crouch is the only one who's better). While I liked Ganz and what he did for us last year, I think he was put into a good situation. Top to bottom our WR core was probably it's best ever (only lost Purify from the previous season, maybe Hardy can't remember), we had an experienced line who didn't have any serious injuries (that made the player miss more than 1 game), and we had a stable of RB's that were probably among the best in the Big XII (Lucky was coming off of a 1700 total yard year but got hurt, Helu showed that he was a great back, and Castille was a bruiser). A lot of things went right for the offense last year and Ganz was the best person to run it. Taylor took the reins of Nebraska's offense in the transitory period and showed us that the WCO/passing offense could work. In the process he probably took an average Nebraska team to 8 wins, and another to the Big XII championship and the Cotton Bowl. He was the only one besides Lee (who road on the coat tails of the defense) to take Nebraska to the Big XII title game this decade. Sure Crouch played in the National Championship, but they backed in when no one else decided they wanted to play Miami (seriously there were probably 3 or 4 things that needed to happen in the last week of the season that did happen). How many good teams did Nebraska play that year? I know of Oklahoma and Colorado, but were there any others? Were there any North teams that were up besides Colorado that year? Oh yeah my decade team would be QB-Taylor RB-Cory Ross RB-Marlon Lucky- even though we wanted him to do more, he had a better career than B-Jax RB-Buckhalter WR-Swift WR-Purify TE- Herian or McNeil DE-Carriker DE-Kelsay DT-Suh LB-Barret Ruud LB-Demarrio Williams DB-Josh Bullocks DB-Daniel Bullocks DB-Dujuan Groce DB-Amukamara I know I don't have a full team but those are my picks.
  21. Last time I voted (less than 5 minutes ago) it showed we are now at 51%.
  22. I don't think Suh had the number 2 performance, it's just listed that way. The writers probably just picked their best performances and threw them together in no particular order. That said it's nice to see him mentioned, but just looking through the list reminded me of how amazing Bush's performance against Fresno was. 513 yards by a player that doesn't play QB is just amazing. No matter how much people say that Vince should have won the Heisman that year, they better not bring up the fact that Bush wasn't a deserving winner.
