  1. This is the problem with 40+ page topics, eventually people start rehashing the same arguments that were made much earlier.
  2. My proof is in the pudding. Believe me I've self destructed on Watson since the first Gabbert scenario and what a colossal waste of time trying to salvage that. Spano somehow dropped in his lap thanks to OSU. Without that happening, who has he SUCCESSFULLY recruited to NU? Watson's job breaks down too 2 things. A: Gameplan for the offense/OC (TO/Bo had to do that this year for him) B: Recruit his QB (He's landed 1 QB since he's been here). Are you suggesting that Kody Spano is the only good QB that Shawn Watson has recruited? I guess Cody Green and Taylor Martinez are just no name QB's on the team to you, right? You're forgetting how horrible Cody Green was this past year and how he just didn't live up to the overachieving expectations that many a fan placed on him as a freshman.
  3. i think many people are underestimating taylor martinez and i wouldn't count out spano just yet either. I think you're right, I'm probably one of those people.
  4. speaking of back on topic...i was pretty excited to hear this, FYI they picked J. Jeffcoat to go to UT and he committed the next day to UT. Slightly better odds with them for that pick...doesn't his dad work there now?
  5. I appreciate your attempt to keep us all from getting overconfident, but I have a hard time imagining Carnes committing to WKU. I've just heard too many people talking about how a bunch of recruits coming out of Carnes' high school have taken officials to WKU in the last few years out of respect for their coach. Add that to the fact that WKU just received a QB commit and I'm not sweating too much over this kid anymore. It all depends on where Carnes's priorities lie. The problem is we don't really know because he hasn't given a full interview about his visit in Lincoln yet. The only thing we've had to go off of is his position coach filling us in on limited details. With that in mind, we don't know what he values in a school or if he wants to play early or accept a redshirt, etc. One thing he did mention awhile back was that he didn't care if the school was a BCS school or not. Other than that, we don't really know where his head is at these days since the USF debacle. A blogger from Florida seems to think Carnes will commit to WKU. Furthermore, WKU fans feel like they have a legitimate shot at him as well. WKU Message Board Well you usually know your recruiting stuff, so I'll defer to you on this one. It's unbelievable how much things change from day to day in the recruiting world - especially this time of year! I can't imagine how stoked WKU fans would be to land Carnes. I imagine it would be like Owa for us.
  6. This just in: Corey Cooper will forgo College in favor of joining the World Series of Poker.
  7. I think we get all three, then again, I'm the eternal optimist.
  8. EZ, any speculation on who Crazy Joey might be?
  9. Some of the people on Huskerpedia are having a meltdown because he's announcing on ESPN.
  10. lol Given the ups and downs of this 40 page monstrosity, you probably picked the wrong topic to do that. I wouldn't worry about it too much though.
  11. Could it be that some of the speculation regarding his recent addition of the Beavers having merit? Why else would they begin pulling in DEs so soon after?
  12. Actually, it would be a tie in that case. Nebraska would win for football and UCLA would win for academics. Not true. NU would win for academics as the academic support program at NU for athletes is far above that of UCLA's. See academic all-americans. It could be considered a wash. Granted UCLA has the name behind the program, but for athletes going to a top tier program isn't as important as having the support system for their degree. Not to mention the reason for UCLA being above NU is not for undergrad reasons, it's their research work and graduate schools that are superior. Then we should define what we mean by "academics," because quality of education (the top scholars as your professors and higher entrance requirements) and academic support (tutors, etc. to help athletes do well in their classes) are two different things. If we mean the former, then pretty much everyone who didn't go to UNL agrees that UCLA wins. If we mean the latter, then UNL wins. Precisely!! I think academics to Owa does not mean "the major I want, and people to help me make good grades." I think he's looking at the quality of education. Like... which school will give me a degree that will be recognized as prestigious across the country. Degrees like Stanford, Harvard, Duke, Princeton, Yale... moving out of ivy league... UT, A&M, Vanderbilt, Pennsylvania, UCLA, CAL Berkley, UNC, USC...These schools are all extremely difficult to get into. They are very selective, thus their degrees are worth a ton. Nebraska may have a lot of programs set up to help people succeed. They may have a lot of athletes with high GPA's but that doesn't mean that those kids are brilliant... it could mean the classes are easy and the kids are getting a lot of help. I'm not saying Nebraska does not have good academics... but out of state the degree will not be worth near as much as one of these other schools will be. Just Sayin... Kids with this kids of natural ability will make millions in the NFL, so UCLA, NU or UO on the resume doesn't matter. It may matter for the normal working population but this is a can't miss prospect. Barring serious injury, this kid will go to the NFL. It really matters on what set of coaches and school has shown the ability to make NFL prospects out of their players. Only one school out of the three really stands out. NU!!!!!!!!! True, but he strikes me as an all possibilities type of guy. I would imagine he is weighing the fact that one injury can totally derail all thoughts of the NFL and will need something to fall back on as well.
  13. Looks like the clock is a tad bit off Posted Today, 07:32 PM
  14. Doesn't mean he qualified, remember David Whitmore and David Grant? LOL that made me realize we have had terrible recruting luck with guys named David. Hopefully Lavonte makes his way to campus... Wow, I didn't realize we had such horrible luck with Davids.
  15. Looks like the Owa vigil is still going strong. What's the over under on total number of pages until he makes his decision?
  16. Is there a feature on this new and improved Huskerboard that will allow you to Ignore threads in the same manner as Ignoring certain posters? It would be wonderful to have right now.
  17. Pretty sure she got the ban hammer dropped on her.
  18. Any skill players of note that will step in for Spiller?
  19. 34. Though my ankles tell me otherwise.
  20. Sadly, it's all only words until it's put to paper on Feb 3rd.
  21. I saw this too. Supposedly Urban Meyer contacted this kid over the weekend and told him he'd take him in a heartbeat. Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up at Florida. Since he is no longer the head coach, is he able to recruit for Florida?
  22. Hopefully they'll get a coach from the NFL. More times than not, they don't pan out too well as a college coach. IMO they got pretty lucky with what Carroll was able to accomplish.
  23. I guess I don't understand the question? Like what? If the Missouri River was the Atlantic, I would love to go to the beach, heck all the time. Would I miss a Husker game to go to the beach? Not at all. If the Sand Hills were the Rockies, and we could ski there, would I ski there a lot? Sure. But I could probably coordinate a trip to Mt. Thedford for January - March, heck, even Christmas time. Why would I have to miss a game. I live in Kansas City. I love the Royals. Would I miss a Husker home game, for a Royals game? Uhmmm... maybe if Hell froze over and the Royals were in the playoffs....Lol. Honestly, all things have to relative. If Omaha had 2 million inhabitants and an NFL team, the Huskers would still sell out. No doubt in my mind. Exactly. Just because the folks in Denver choose to do other things that take them away from supporting their college football team, doesn't mean that the majority of Husker fans would do the same given more options for entertainment.
