I think the Rivals recruiting rates are not particularly good predictors of final team ratings in the polls. I've tracked the Rival's ratings for a number of years. I combine the prior 4 years of ratings for each team and then use that overall recruiting average to predict the outcome at the end of the year. This was the Rival's recruiting average rating in 2010. I would be surprised if the PSU fans are hostile. I would guess they will be subdued and depressed. Its a criminal matter with no players on either responsible. The coaching staff at PSU must be pretty upset. I read that the assistant who saw the crime and reported it to JoePa is now their WR coach. How weird is that???

I'd love to see a blow-out, but this squad seems to play to the skill level of the opponent (except for Wisconsin when we we totally unprepared). Based on past performance, we won't have the game secured until the middle of the 4th Qt.

Its way too early to speculate about next year..... but, I have to keep reminding myself that Nebraska's offense is VERY VERY YOUNG! It could be really explosive next year IF T.Martinez stays healthy AND IF he develops into a consistent QB. I have to believe that the horrible performance of our defense this year will be corrected by Bo. Hopefully the D will get a lot better in the 2nd half of 2011. If not, we will lose enough games to be out of the Big 10 championship game. As of right now, I don't think we deserve to be in that game.

Upon further thought - the jerseys used by Nebraska during the Johnny Rodgers era were really sharp looking! I'd like to see them again.

Maybe its just me, but teams that change their uniforms every game either have no identity or they are schizos. I suppose that Oregon's constant new uniforms don't ruin their identity because they never really had a football identity in the first place. I voted for tradition all the time, BECAUSE the missing choice was "throwback every couple of years for special games", which I would approve of. Instead the poll choices always had "alternative / throwback". I despise the alternative uniforms .... most recently Maryland and Mich St (against Mich).

It was great watching NU women's volleyball here in Illinois. Almost never saw them before. The BTN is becoming my favorite channel.

I have no doubt that NU will be fired up. Bo will see to that. My concerns are: 1) Fumbles, 2) Interceptions, 3) Our D-line stopping their running game, especially up the middle.

I'm concerned about the Wisconsin game because our defense hasn't lived up to the pre-season rave notices. In fact, I think our defense is worse this year than in the past 2 year.... and it wasn't supposed to be that way. I think we will learn more about the defense this week than we have all year. Wisconsin will either prove the earlier games were misleading OR show that our defense has taken a step backwards and we are in for a disappointing season.

Based on one trip: Wyoming people are great. A few parts of state are very beautiful, but most of the state is the most desolate, territory I've ever seen the the USA.

I'm thrilled that we won. Caution: UW had played 2 supposedly weak teams. Their pass defense has been HORRIBLE. Martinez & our receivers looked very good (but so Eastern Washington and Hawaii looked great against them). Therefore, I still have a wait and see attitude about our passing attack. Against these 2 weak opponents the UW defense looked really good against the rush (under 50 yd/game). NU rushed for over 300 yds. Conclusion - our O-Line and RB's are starting to show some real promise. I believe our starting O-Line has one senior (Caputo, center) and 3 inexperienced men - 2 walk on RFr - Choi & Long and 1 true Fr - Moore. I'll be amazed if they hold up against talented, experienced Big Ten D-Lines.

Just don't EVER join the Big 12! Unless, of course, you want Texas to tell you where the conference championship should be played, what's fair with TV coverage, the proper way to split up the conference revenues, where the conference headquarters should be located, etc.

I like to read comments from different people. This thread had 45+ comments from one person. Maybe something is wrong with the program and this MOD's name keeps appearing in place of other people????

This is both good & bad news. Good news because it shows that a walk-on gets a fair chance to make the team. Bad news because NU has so many young inexperienced players on offense that it will PROBABLY result in penalties, fumbles and missed assignments. I believe our offense will struggle mightily against good defenses again this year.

When it comes to TV draw, NU is unique. I'm a Husker Alum and have lived in Illinois for 40 years. I've run into many people who watch the Big Red on TV and follow NU football and have never lived in Nebraska or attended school there. Strongly suspect that the same phenomena exists in many other states.

First - I'm so glad that NU decided last year to go to the B1G. Can you imagine the mess we would be in NOW if last year Mizzou had gone to the B1G instead of us? Second - I'm presuming that the TAM move is motivated by the Texas Longhorn Network (TLN) rather than any moves made last year by NU & CU. I'm just amazed that other Texas schools (and OU) didn't raise HELL when Texas got their own TV network. That was BS and no one seemed to say anything about it until the TLN announced they would also show high school games! Mack Brown had the audacity to say that showing HS games would not give Texas a recruiting edge. Can you believe the BS?
