  1. Jones being on that list surprises me; he's been out of position a few times this year and that has cost us in spots. Gerry is playing his best ball right now. He's engaged in the system and tackling much, much better.
  2. I agree with your assessment of the alignment; they had the numbers advantage. Gerry takes outside contain on his blocker to force Thorson back into scraping LBs, they just never arrive.
  3. That's the way you are interpreting it, which goes directly against MRI's statement on Monday.
  4. I was just surprised that through all that rage and anger for this country he could focus his attention anywhere else. Also worth noting--Flood's rant is completely filled with racist comments. I have not said a single racist thing because it turns out I am not racist. This is the unspoken rule it seems: A non-white person says something racist and we're supposed to be sympathetic to that person. A white person says something racist and he/she is just a racist and should be branded the devil. That's a hell of a "Jump to Conclusions" mat you've got.
  5. Eh......it's an intriguing prospect, but I do like who we are bringing into the program. 247 had him going to Oregon originally; it'd be interesting to see if they make another play for him. He does have a bit of dual-threat to him, which I would like to see stay in the program.
  6. Yes, it would. Provided the player followed the law and got the permits from the city of Lincoln and the school and whoever else might be required to issue a permit. In fact, it would be admirable. That flag is an ever-changing piece of CLOTH that holds no meaning except what people attach to it. I am a native american, a member of an Indian Tribe, the Rosebud Sioux of South Dakota. That flag is a symbol of repression and conquest, of ill deeds and immoral behavior, murder of children and elders. That flag represents the unwelcome conquest of nations and tribes from the East Coast to Hawaii. You stand there in your 'sacred ground' of worship for the US Government and tell me I am wrong. My people live on a reservation in South Dakota and are faced with 90% alcoholism, universal poverty, an unemployment rate of 80% and an average life span of 48. You tell me, you stupid son of a bitch. Is that flag sacred? It killed millions, and the survivors of that massacre in the 1800s and 1900s are still among you. How sacred is that damn piece of cloth? Go to Whiteclay Nebraska and plead your sorry-ass case to a bunch of drunk Indians who hate you. I fought for that damn flag. And I tell you. it is worth the white blood spilled in its name. But it takes no consideration for MY people or the other races that died to preserve the rights you have. We are many and we are invisible. Our contribution has been, will be forgotten. The nazis would most likely have exterminated the remaining native population had the white devil not turned Omaha beach red with their blood to protect said native Americans. Also, and maybe this is just my crazy coming out, but if I'm an alcoholic, blaming someone else for my excessive consumption of alcohol doesn't help much...
  7. Why don't he use his position as a college athlete to play football and leave the politics to the politicians? God, I hate the "stick to sports!" diatribe.
  8. Both him and Reilly, really. Westy, Morgan and DPE should be more than enough, and it'd be good to get Reimers more reps.
  9. Fisher was a good coach, but I think a lot of perception of him came from him being a golf coach before coming to Nebraska. Like, any success he had would be a positive. Williams, for his personal faults, is truly a professional. I'm glad he didn't get fired, for both personal and professional reasons.
  10. Probably should spend the entire season comparing NU to Alabama - It will be good for you because you can continue to explain how much NU sucks and it will be good for the rest of us because we will be able to start looking forward to the run that NU will have for the rest of 2016. That's an optimistic way to look at it GBR. I'll continue to point out our deficiencies and you can wave your pom poms....we'll be a team. Just keep moving those goalposts.
  11. You should come around quicker; dude is a beast.
  12. I think Moore has a great shot at making the league next year. I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 of our SR WRs and both our SR TEs are on NFL rosters next year.

Sorry Husk, I'll post it next time.

No problem, Cdog. I just followed them on twitter, so I will get the link myself. I actually hate the "gotta link" guy, because a google search is so hard to do.

  14. It absolutely does, you just aren't willing to admit it. Certain things are inappropriate in certain venues. If Rose-Ivey isn't going to be considerate of those around him, it would be duplicitous to demand it from others. If you can't see the difference between the two situations, then all hope is lost to you.
  15. I'm struggling to figure out how there are two people who felt compelled to recommend this post.
  16. Probably the best thing for this topic is to post MRI's statement, and lock the thread.
  17. "I haven't seen it, therefore, it doesn't exist". Do you believe in the idea of an afterlife? Or in a supreme deity?
  18. Whole lotta kowtowing to an ESPN prima donna this morning, I see.
  19. I have a hard time figuring out what to make of your post. The first half is much needed insight and perspective. The second half seems out of touch and tone deaf. Here's the thing: Practically all forms of protest are "divisive" and/or "disrespectful". I keep hearing that all these things are divisive and we should be doing things to bring people together... OK well I'm all ears. This sh#t has been going on for a verrrry long time, and not being provocative doesn't really seem to accomplish anything. The fact that there are people who get more outraged at someone kneeling during the national anthem then they do when people are needlessly killed is pretty f'ing sad. (Not saying this applies to you, just in general) You can make whatever you want (or don't want). The first half of my post was meant to describe and explain the fact that my opinion on this matter is not reached because I have lived some life of privilege. The truth is exactly the opposite. I would like to respectfully disagree with your reply. Protests can be done in many ways that are not divisive and not intended to be disrespectful. The people who are taking part in these protests are not helping anything. They are not promoting a productive discussion. This thread is a microcosm of what is happening in the national debate. People are insulting each other back-and-forth, there is no common ground being reached, no insight is achieved, no progress is made; the point they are trying to make is lost in their actions. To say that police abused of power is wrong, is an understatement. But those protests are not getting people to talk about police abuse. They are talking about the fact that these protesters are doing something to offend people who in many cases agree with their point. As I said, it's divisive and it really accomplishes nothing. Well said California Husker. I agree that the current approach to protesting is creating more divisiveness rather than helping to spotlight whatever cause that is being supported. Again, isn't it a bit weird that African-Americans are getting shot in front of their children with their hands up, and they have to worry about offending white people with their silent protests? And again, you have a working model of the 20th century civil rights movement with all the proof you need that successful protests don't go the way the privileged would prefer. Since you've written many posts suggesting you don't believe the cause is even valid, don't pretend you're merely arguing over the position of the spotlight. I take it back; THIS is pretty much the definitive response to the issue.
  20. Red Dead Redemption pretty much has the definitive series of posts on the issue. I'd quote them all, but that's too much text at once.
  21. Be careful: your logical, reasoned, informed and intelligent take won't be well received by some around here.
  22. I agree with their right to express themselves. That doesn't mean it's not classless, tasteless, and overall unbecoming of a representative of the taxpayer-funded University if Nebraska. You are way overreacting, its a simple peaceful protest which has happened multiple times throughout history, so whats the big f'ing deal? UNL should support their right to express their views if anything, if they were an overreaching University they would force them to stop. Simply let the players stand up for what they believe in, any resistance is a totalitarian movement that will reduce productivity and make the players become less loyal to the University they support. UNL should support their right to express their opinion. Like I said, you don't have to agree with it, just understand their right to voice their opinion. Their opinion is just as valid as anyone elses. I'm not "way overreacting". Overreacting would be asking for their expulsion. I'm saying they're classless and tasteless because they're intentionally showing a lack of respect for the symbol of our country and all who've sacrificed for it; which, incidentally, has nothing to do with what they're protesting. Everyone who has ever said they're disrespecting people who have sacrificed for the country is claiming they can read people's minds. Unless these players come out and say they don't give a sh#t about how they were protected during wars, then that's just a big giant guess on your part. If you're specifically talking about the lyrics of the song, why should someone who is fighting against systematic racism care all that much about sacrifices made by our soldiers during a time when slavery was legal? Respect for the flag is something that is ingrained in the minds of all members of the military. It means respect for the people who made the flag possible, so it's easy to infer that disrespect for the flag is disrespect for the people who made the flag possible. As for people fighting against perceived systemic racism, maybe they should care about the sacrifices of those soldiers because many of their progeny paid with their lives to end slavery. Might be something worthy of respect. Did you really just drop a Civil War reference?
  23. Not "Take a knee?" There are thousands of brave veterans who have had their legs blown off that would love to take a knee again... Oh for ****'s sake.
