  1. I just peed myself! I give you the smart arse post of the week award. Great job. Edit I want to add my thoughts on frost: SF runs the scheme we want to run - pro Attitude and energy fit the program - pro recruiting ability - pro WR coach (which we truly need help) - pro Inexperienced - con unproven - con may not have as much insight to the offense as some would think - con may not be as good of recruiter as SW - con I'm pretty 50-50 on SF. If it happens I know it will be because Bo believes he can handle the job. If not then I trust it is for the best
  2. I read the whole article and get the feeling that he is being as honest as possible. If their contracts are not up yet then there are no openings. He also may not have honestly known about an opening being posted yet...it is really more of a business end of things. I think that if they already have their "guy" picked to replace any coach openings then why would they want it to go public. I get frustrated at times with the current staffs closed mouths and how Bo reacts to some of the reporters but I don't believe for a second that Bo doesn't know exactly what he is doing. He is treading on some sticky situations right now so he has to be very guarded with his words. I still "Bo"lieve. BTW hilarious thread title and pic. Good clean fun from fans that are just dieing to know what is going on.
  3. +1 Well said ......stated as a true Nebraskan. For the people who think Nebraska should be less preachy....Have you ever heard Dr. Tom speak? If you don't agree with the faith that's cool but you have to agree that the morals and examples set my "true" men of faith is incredible.
  4. I'm crying Red tears. I hope for nothing but the best for him. Thanks for your service to the program and I salute you.
  5. I hate you now.....j/k Cool story and I'm jealous. I prolly would have just peed and stuttered. Making Dr. Tom run or call an ambulance for me.
  6. he did good things against bad defenses who were not prepared. he did bad things against good defenses and even bad defenses who had time to study him. also, lee was not 'lost', he had no line to protect him. lee would have been much better at managing a game and sustaining a drive (and so i do not get ripped, i will add the obligatory 'IMO'). Did you watch him make reads in option plays? Lee did the same thing as Taylor A sunbelt Champion. The big difference is Taylor has 3 more years to hopefully improve. Taylor had no O-line either and yes he looked lost against better Ds most of which he was hurt and had his confidence bubble popped. I'm not the leader of the kids fan club or anything but for F**k sake it was his first year on the field of a D-1 school with no competent WRs or O-line. I also have the gut feeling that after a few losses the coaching staff kept him in to build experience for the future knowing he was rattled.
  7. OL- Better (don't kill me) Cotton has to know he has a foot out the door so will push his guys harder on penalties and physicality. Much more depth. Yoshi will have a break out year and I can't help but think that the young blood that was brought and the 4 coming in are going to be VERY hungry for the field (and Twinkies) RB - Same Helu was good but I had the feeling he was put into games just hoping for a big run. Rex will fill the hole left and Green shows good potential to be solid TE - Same under used before underused again Reed and cotton could and should be used for our benefit but will make good blockers instead WR - This is the one That has me worried. Our WR corp. has looked like a Gaggle F**K for a while and no signs for improvement more dropped passes and mysterious field slipping to come. Unless we have some players move positions or our QBs learn to lodge the ball into their face-masks we will be a single trick pony again. QB - Better t-mart had a ton of valuable experience even the bad games help him to learn. Green still showed a couple sparks of talent. Mix in 3-4 unproven guys to push the pile and add depth. I think people will be surprised with the improvement of this position (maybe I'm just wishful thinking) K- Worse we will find a replacement that is average to slightly better than average. I'm just hoping we can land Mauro Bondi.
  8. I realize T-magic isn't going to be the next Mike Vick necessarily but, I am going to laugh my Arse off in a few months when all the trash talkers are buying his jersey and jumping back on the t-wagon. The kid did some great things and some bad things. I'm sure he will concentrate on passing mostly on offseason and get a little better. Then the year after work on controlling the game and reading defenses. Then we will all be saying Frazier who? (over exaggeration) He didn't look any more lost than Lee did last year. Give the kid some time he will at the least be a good QB. Like I said Maybe not Hypeman trophy winner but good.
  9. It sounds like the high school that had their team taking Creatine. That high school had like 15 players drop out sick all at once after hard practices. Link to ABC.com news coverage of the High School.
  10. Beat my face against my desk out of boredom. Check out recruiting, combines, and draft (of huskers only). I hate Baseball, basketball, and any none NU football sports. Man, I really do need a life.
  11. I would say that the injury was the turning point of the season. Shouldn't have been but it was. I think T-marts play will improve as well as CG. CG was starting to look a bit better at the end. The biggest thing that depresses me is that we still aren't going to have our own offensive identity. Now we are pushing more on the spread-zone read like Oregon. When is it going to occur to people (coaches) that you have to have a "GOOD" front line and receivers that can catch the ball first. HINT HINT everyone knows our QBs are run first pass second and our running backs are good they know we can't receive balls so we are one dimensional. So our "multiple" offense is Run or hand-off and run. Yet we refuse to play power football. Sorry for the rant I'm just sick of the power-option play calling without the power o-line.
  12. Who is this kicker I hear we offered a scholarship to? I hear he can kick 57 yarders consistantly. Is it rumor or truth?

  14. You keep repeating the bold as if it has any validity. This team relied no more on the "big play" than any other team. Every single play from every single team is designed to score a TD. The fact that so many of ours did early in the season has a lot more to do with the superlative abilities of our QB (the "huge gamble" of the revisionist history you keep mentioning). We had every single play in this offense in our playbook last year. We've run specific plays this year that are geared toward the talents of our players. Shockingly, this is actually done by most every team in America (not coached by Bill Callahan, that is). You can't necessarily say that. Obviously taking a knee but seriously the real point is the good teams can churn out tough drives instead of big play or bust as our offense seemed to be once Taylor got injured. I figured the fourth-and-short, kickoff, punt and victory formation plays would be obviously excluded. Thanks for reminding me that everything must be spelled out. The issue regarding injuries doesn't make much sense. Injured players mean little production regardless of the play. "Lucky" big plays are busts in coverage, Hail Mary passes, and blown assignments. When you execute your blocking schemes to perfection and Roy Helu sprints 60 yards to the end zone, that's not "relying on big plays," that's executing your offense. Every play is schemed to put a hat on a hat, or to out-think or outrun the opponent. The fact that these plays work doesn't mean we cannot grind out long drives, they meant that we didn't need to. And that's not a bad thing - in fact, that's offense to perfection. zoogies seems to be insinuating that the fact that a healthy Taylor Martinez can outrun pretty much everyone we've played all year is a bad thing. Or something along those lines - I've never figured out what the problem with scoring from 80 yards out is. Mostly it seems like a way to cast blame away from Shawn Watson and onto Bo, since he made the decision that about 99% of other head coaches would make in his shoes - you've got a guy who's routinely torching your top-ten defense in practice, so the logical move would be to play him. In Bizarro Shawn Watson Is Never Wrong World, this is a "gamble," and one that was wrong to make. We know it was wrong because Taylor got injured and couldn't run anymore. Or... something like that. Like I said, I've never followed the logic. Thread is done..........You won. +700 It will be my SIG in honor
  15. Lol..... marketing hype much? Dude ....ummm I work for Nike. (Not for the football section) But, for the pro combat uniform to weigh less fully saturated than other uniforms completely dry is in itself huge. The energy you save can be put into the game instead of lugging extra weight. The concept is if you don't have to think about what you are wearing then you can think about the game. Read about it ....yes Nike hypes but so does every company. If you really do work for nike, then can you tell them that not everyone is 5' 9" and 250lbs. Kthxbai If your having troubles finding good fitting stuff try talking to a Team dealer. Enter your zip code in this site http://www.niketeam.com/v2/new/DealerList.asp It will pull a list of your local Nike Team dealers. The other sizes are made just not as popular so it goes to other places. And if you think the weight thing is garbage carry around an extra ten pounds for an hour an tell me if you can tell the difference lol. That is just one of the benefits as well. The pro combat stuff is also made with built in padding and ergonomic seaming which give you a better range of motion and more protection. I realize I sound like a commercial but if you would see and feel the difference between Nike and other companies you would be a believer too.
  16. I see the anti-Watson crowd doesn't have a monopoly on hyperbole. You're mischaracterizing my statement about Green and his high school numbers. The problem is that you want to give Watson a pass because of injuries, ignoring the fact that, especially in 2010, we've suffered some pretty key injuries on defense, yet the defense continues to play at a high level. We lost both starting linebackers just before the season, we lost Ciante Evans and Fonzie Dennard for a game or two each, we lost Stache for a half or two, and yet we haven't seen that crazy drop-off on Defense like we've seen on Offense. We've had more injuries preventing guys from playing on Defense than Offense, yet the results are what they are. I get that you have this propensity to hitch your wagon to a guy and stick with him, zoogies, and the loyalty is admirable. I think you're your own worst enemy when it comes to Watson support, however, because I think the general feeling toward Watson isn't nearly as full of rancor as it seems - but in the face of implacable support for a coach not getting it done, those pointing out flaws are forced to go to ever greater lengths to prove their point. Perhaps had you given in a smidge, the Watson threads would have been less. Still, it has given us something to talk about. And that's the whole point of the board. That is the biggest thing for me. Yes, we can wait for Watson to get another 5th year senior like Joe Ganz and he will win big. I know he is capable of of that. But, I don't see him improving players. If we are going to be in a 9-10 win season pattern for a while, I would rather have a guy that is able to bring in a 3 star QBs and coach them to 5 star performance rather than a guy with 4-5 star QBs playing at 3 star level. Coach Bo seems to be completely dedicated not only to win but to turn boys into great men. When the change does happen I expect to see a guy brought in that is just as much life coach as he is QB coach.

  18. It doesn't make sense to name them geographically! Wisconsin and Penn State in the South (two cities further north than Nebraska), while Nebraska is in the South? Not to mention Lincoln is nearly the same distance North as Columbus and West Lafayette! Does it really matter?.....Big 10 doesn't make sense with 12 teams............How about current leaders are called "Not Texas" Legends are called "Still not Texas"
  19. It's pretty tough to argue with North/South. Besides one team it is perfectly split.
  20. I realize it wouldn't be if OC but maybe QB coach.....didn't we bring Ganz back. I would love to get Scott frost back from Oregon he has done a great job.
  21. I think the best way would be: Keep existing bowls lessen the time between season and bowl games. top records and rank go to bowl games no matter the conference at the end of the bowls 1 more game, take the winners of the 2 top bowls and there you go.
  22. I've been watching this thread but unable to post from work. Nebraska left Nike because Adidas offered more money. There are 2 ways to look at this 1. (Once again my opinion) Adidas may offer more $ but the fan bases loses out on more availability of fan gear. The team also loses out on the technology Nike uses in everything from the socks to the helmets to improve performance. 2. If they go with Nike they may get less money coming in to the team.(not sure on figures...I don't know them) Nike does like to put their stamp on everything so they may want to alter things. But, you have to remember Nebraska was the team we know and love when they had Nike Sponsor them before. I would vote Nike in a heartbeat as long as we don't change too much. But, I doubt Dr. Tom would let them change much.
  23. Mack Brown would’ve been the first one to cross the field and shake your coach’s hand. He would’ve been gracious in defeat, as always. The refs wouldn’t have been blamed. I literally laughed out loud at this. Texas and Mack Brown are always the first to come up with an excuse as to why they weren't beaten but cheated. I believe I heard many excuses for them why they barely won. I believe Colt McCoys perfect internal clock sounds like a good example.
