  1. We also lost a couple guys from the Class of 2015. They weren't from Nebraska, though, were they? No. I don't think anyone said they were. Bussey and Reuben Jones are the two I remember decommitting. I guess when I read this: It sounded like he was talking about other Nebraska recruits decommitting, not just all the decommits in general. Maybe I'm reading it wrong. I don't think Bo every had a Nebraska kid decommit. #RileySucks (sarcasm)
  2. Even then he didn't really develope that much IMO. He got better, but not to the extent you'd expect. I remember that first half of his freshman year, people talking about he how he had the potential to be something spectacular. But he wasn't much better his junior or senior year than the first half of his freshman year. 600 passes after that first season and you'd still hold your breath when he threw anything farther than 10 yards - you still watched with one eye closed, hoping he held on to the ball as he darted through traffic. If he'd had ZERO instruction, just the sheer number of starts he had would lead to him improving. It's only natural. And that's about the amount of improvement we saw - it wasn't as much about coaching as it was about experience. He could have been a lot better than he was, and that's scary to think about because he was pretty good as it was.
  3. Stanton leaving will just be futher confirmation that pelini & co. could not develop QBs. This will hopefully be where Riley really separates himself. Bo had teams that could have made a decent run - he was always a QB away IMO. No one developed, either in their career or even just as the year went on. You'd see the same stuff against Iowa as you did against McNeese.
  4. Beacuse in Helu's final season we rarely passed the ball - and in his prior 3 he wasn't a better passer than the QB. You can't exactly say the same for Burkhead - who for his few years very well might have been a better passer than our QB
  5. So 1 in 5 isn't a regular basis for Osborne, but 1 in 6 for Pelini is? (reference post #101, #99 - and the batch before that which led to ur 1 in 6 - Bo sucks mantra) PS: I still think Bo stunk, and I don't need to reference Osborne's time here to try and prove it...anyone who disagrees with me deserves another 7 years of what we just endured. There were some pretty crappy/drunken Saturday evenings in that period.
  6. He committed to Alabama yesterday.
  7. Any chance Riley picks up Mullaney? http://www.si.com/college-football/2015/06/14/oregon-state-football-richard-mullaney-transfer
  8. Why is that? What he did at Stanford, the 49ers, etc? He built the foundation that Shaw rode for the next 3 years too. I'd put him above Dantonio for that. Stoops 6-10 years ago...no way. Stoops in 2015...yes. Malzahn...hmmm, neither have enough longevity in their career to determine which is better right now. Both are hot, same goes for Fisher. But if I had my choice of those 3 to coach the Huskers, I'd take Harbaugh. Patterson is the one that has me thinking. I'd prolly take him over Harbaugh.
  9. It's usually 3 days of less than 40 - calcium carbonate helps mitigate this - and they have higher end mixes for cold weather applications. It's not like they don't build anything in the north right? They could likely get a lot of the structure foundation built around the current setup with some engineering involved. 9 months, they'd make it work.
  10. Kansas basketball got something similar which immediately removes all legitimacy from the award...
  11. Ignore the fact that the article is BleacherReporter. It is easily the best article I've read on BR. Thanks for posting, kchusker. +1 FYI, Here's a way-old BR article about Phillips. Pretty good read too. LINK BleacherReport is far from what it was a couple years ago. That was Lars Anderson - one of the better SI writers. They've upped their game lately.
  12. Pretty good perspective on the situation. Very fair to LP. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2453138-for-lawrence-phillips-a-dead-cellmate-and-another-day-of-reckoning?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial
  13. He might have been right, but you just don't say stuff like that in that situation. You don't know the family well enough to know exactly how they're going to react. Mattison probably thought he did, but he obviously didn't And we don't know what was said. It could have been a sales pitch like Willie posted earlier that the family interpreted it differently.
  14. there will be 21 new ones added tomorrow i'm sure. if this site doesn't crash at least once tomorrow we'll know the cleansing has had an impact on views
  15. and this was the year before he got all the additional "support" - curious what these numbers will be for the 13-14, or 14-15 years.
  16. Exactly. Going in to 07' you couldn't have predicted what was to come. A lot of that had to do w/ the B12 at the time. It was like playing Oregon/Ohio St 4-5 times that year. Pelini would have found himself with a nearly identical record as Cally did that year. Last years D was hardly better than 07's. In fact we had 07's D the last few years, it was just covered by the crap we played 10-11 times a season. About the only thing Cally could have done was fire Coz mid-season. He never got a chance to after. They gave Solich that chance and it blew up in their face when he turned it around and they still wanted him gone. No way Cally was getting the same chance to turn it around.
  17. I think you are giving Bo too much credit. He recruited them hard and lost out on them, nothing more. Them flip-flopping and leaving Nebraska in the dark was the first signs of a character flaw, it was exposed when they played these games and ended up at a place like Ole Miss. If this kid hadn't gone to Ole Miss, the first sign would have been him getting in trouble here instead - which he likely would have as well. We just got lucky some times, I don't think it was Bo saying "you can't get in trouble at NU" - then the kid saying "well I want to get in trouble so I'm going somewhere I can".
  18. This is the part that kind of stood out to me. It was never 100% about the program, and the Huskers. He always had a side-gig. You can't be successful as a recruiter if you are 110%. It's not for everyone, but no one will claim that RB was a great recruiter. This is a big part of the reason IMO.
  19. I am pretty happy with all of them. We lacked experience and class - both are abundant on this staff. The ST dedicated hire is huge for me, I've been calling for that for a long time. Pelini largely ignored 1/3 of the game - and if you disagree with me look at who held the title...and look at how many other titles were tacked on behind that name. It's something that wasn't as obvious as it should have been due to pure luck of having a couple of the better kickers in the history of the program during his first few years here - and one of the best returners his last year. Like everything else, if Pelini didn't have an All-American anchoring a position it was rarely above average. ST was no different. The "team" components - the return game and coverage always stunk though: 91, 68, 111, 104, 78, 100, 66. Opponent punt return rankings like that will be a thing of the past. That in itself is worth 3-7 points a game and will keep momentum from swinging too far against us. Experience...no one will be saying we lack that from here on. No more on-the-job training at Nebraska. That's a HUGE change considering the number of assistants (and HC) that have used Nebraska as a place to learn how to be a coach over the last 7 years.
  20. And what I'm saying is that you're spending too much time in CO if you think Nebraska can lock down the 500 miles radius considering the change we've seen over the last 20 years. Missouri can out-recruit Nebraska for the best KC kids....they do almost every year. Nebraska is lucky to pull 2-3 of the top 15 MO recruits - and that has NOTHING to do with Pelini's recruiting and everything to do w/ the competition he faces in that state versus 20 years ago.
