  1. Actually that was the correct call. His forward progress had been stopped and he had been driven pretty much parallel from the numbers out of bounds, the ref just didn't blow the whistle right away. As for this article I think its crap! The only solid argument is the paragraph about Eric Martin's hit. It feels like this guy is stretching the truth to slant his article, the only accusations about an illegal hit by Osborne were by opposing fans and the announcer who's name shall not be mentioned not the officials as the article may insinuate. Although no apology is odd since it was obviously the wrong call on the fumble. The Helu fumble all I can say is I hope the umpire saw what he called, because he is the only person other than Roy who actually MAY have had a clean view. While the face mask on Burkhead was clearly illegal and should easily warrant at least some type of punishment, if you watch the replay no single official on the field could have seen the face mask. If anyone is to blame for this one it’s Cody Green for blocking the line judge’s view who then threw the flag for Legate’s reaction. The face mask last night was pretty questionable it was hard to tell by the single replay I saw but I’m not sure if he even grabbed it, but the tackle most defiantly was not aided by it. And the holding on Crick’s sack should have drawn a flag, but if you watch the officials tendancies over the past few years they seem to never throw a flag for holding if a sack occurs pretty quickly after the foul no matter how flagrant it is. Maybe they become to concerned with the qb’s safety to pay attention at that point. I actually thought the Kansas game was well officiated by big 12 standards. That doesn’t mean that there weren’t A LOT of missed calls, but that’s been the norm for the past few years no matter what teams are playing. To me it doesn’t seem like the on field crews have that much against us, if you notice they let quite a few of our more obvious pass interference calls go. But when you take a look at some of the calls from the replay booth and the decisions by the office that’s where things get fishy.
  2. "Can you feel it" is all right for 30 seconds but after that it's just annoying. Start me up is still the song I think of when I think warm afternoon kickoffs in the good ol'days.
  3. He said he tried to pin down Bo on if he said yes or no on TO asking him if he approved of going to the Big 10. Bo gave him nothing. This has to change. Bo is a great defensive mind but his stock answers to interviewers leaves a lot to be desired. That is putting it nicely, actually. It is hard for DP to comment on a guy that gave him nothing over a 3 minute interview. If Bo answered his questions with more info and personality, then DP would've made more comments at the end after Bo hung up. I wish I had those 3 minutes back. TO can talk for hours about nothing as well, I think it's just one of those coaching traits that they pick up to deal with the media.
  4. You are correct, they came back immediately to the next play like nothing happened. Actually Cunningham does mention breifly during one of the replays that it should have been a fumble, then he gets right back on his soap box about "targeting". But they did not say another word after the commercial or show another replay of the FUMBLE.
  5. I'll chip in for gas! I think it's mainly because penalties are generally judgement calls and when you look at them you could call something different everytime. Not to mention the speed at which you play it back changes how flagrant/devastating things look.
  6. The play was reviewed and I'm pretty certain that I remember the ref coming out and facing west like they usually do to address the call, but his mic wasn't on and we never heard what he said in the stadium. I also thought it was kind of strange that he came out before the TV timeout was over, because I remember looking over and seeing the guy with his orange glove still out signaling that they weren’t even back from commercial yet.
  7. You just do! kind of like how you just miss Pierre Allen's skin tight jersey being streched out a foot and a half while he's TYRING to chase down the ball carrier.
  8. I can see getting flagged for helmet to helmet, but in no way did he "target"(other than picking him out to block) the player with "the crown of his helmet"(unless that region somehow includes the side of the helmet as well). Defiantly not a suspension worthy hit and no where near as bad as some of the NFL hits were. Would love to see Bo's raw and uncensored opinion on this, but I'm sure he and T.O. will keep it politically correct as usual. Pardon my ignorance but does anyone remember the last time a player was suspended for something like this in any major college league?
  9. I don't deny that, and I think it's disgusting, but you can argue the same thing about wide reciever quarterbacks punters and almost any other position on the feild. Believe it or not it's still a pretty physical game and it can be just as violent as football too.
  10. Right, because no one get seriously hurt in soccer...
  11. I would usually agree with you but I think this is the first time I understand and almost completely agree with what they are trying to do. I just hope they remember there is a difference between leading with your head or targeting the head, and being taller than your opponent and incidentally hitting his head.
  12. Carl has said all along that it's not about how many yards you give up its how many points. Yes this defence bends a lot more than they did in the past, but look at the second half. The Pelini's made adjustments like they always do and texas only scored 3 points in the whole second half. If it wasn't for the one turnover and a blown assignment after that this game could have gone into overtime at 13-13 or been 13-10.
  13. I don't remeber who it was but somebody took a dive before a play was about to begin in the second half and everyone (maybe just the student section?) started booing him, next thing you know he's up and hopping around.
  14. The refs didn't beat us. We (the receivers) beat ourselves. Texas did not dominate. Including kick return yards, we outgained Texas. Had we caught some of those long passes, we would have won. That said, the refs were biased and it really angers me. I'll be glad to put behind us the Longhorns and whatever conference they want to poison. Yes we missed some huge passes that would have changed the game, but on the other hand if we could have got the obvious holding calls on 3rd downs and 2nd and longs its a whole different ballgame as well. I think it's a tossup between who shot us in the foot more, ourselves or the officials, and we win by a slight margin...
  15. He only drops 'em because he doesn't get enough balls thrown his way, duh!

    GAME SPEACH

Judging by the one I've seen I'd say it'll be loud, intense, and contain more than a hand full of expletives.
  17. No,no, no that's the T-Magic Incident. By the way I like the floating hand and its questionable position in you sig.
  18. Found this article through a friends facebook. Taylor's dad talks about their family, the nickname, and what Taylor means to him. Link couple of quotes made me wonder if he was one of the reasons our defense was so good last year.
  19. Nevermind that Nebraska has wanted to be a part of the Big 10 going back a hundred years to when it was the Big 9...
  20. I wouldn't mind having the same weather we did last time they were here. Beautiful to start not terribly cold but it then some snow... just enough to let'em know they're not in austin any more.
  21. ^ Not bad Ryan but but why did you take bill's face off the zombie poster and put that younger looking fellow on there instead? Thanks
  22. He was pretty tongue in cheek with that remark. Every team is going to take a day or two of during a bye week escpecially with the confrence grind coming up. Besides they still do workouts to stay in condition and I bet some guys spent their free time in the film room, so its not like they sat around chuggin beers or something.
  23. Didn't feel like studying for my test, so here goes... *Edit: late night typos sorry*
  24. I would say that a couple things were exposed in this game and hopefully they were just under-coaching or lack of preparation, since those are easier to fix. The first and most obvious was that the line did not come to play. The biggest problems were not sustaining blocks long enough, and just plain getting beat, escpecially on the edges. A friend made the comment at the game that the running backs weren't doing to hot, and I asked him how he expected them to do much when they have to start putting moves on defenders in their own backfield. I'll give SDSU credit they came to play tonight, but we just left our emotion at the door and were completely flat and that first fumble didn't help things either. I think what won the game for the most part was just better athelets on both sides of the ball. The other thing I notice was a lack of adjustment in play calling through most of the game. I'm all for running the same play till they can stop it, but once it's stopped usually you move down the palybook and find another one to call. It seems like we relied heavily on the read option, and a lot of one back sets from the shot gun like we did in the Washinton game. But once those plays we stopped we either ran it again for the same result or went to the air (with mediocar results at best). Seems to me when you having a hard time getting the run working out of one back sets and your not having much success through the air you might want to bring another body into the back field to help block, or move under center with a fullback and use more power oriented run plays. I know it was the 4th quarter, but towards the end of the game we ran a couple of plays out of the I and it was able to get 6+ yards. I just can't understand the lack of adjustment here, I really hope it was a lack of respect that was reflected in the preperation and game plan rather than something else.
