  1. Just heard Sean Callahan say he's decommitting from Washington, flying to the game on the same plane as Stanton and Drake Martinez, sitting next to Stanton on the plane, and his HS coach LOVES Nebraska. Sounded like Callahan is expecting him to commit to NU
  2. We're 16 days from the start of the season, only 12 days from seeing the team in action. I can't contain my excitement any longer, so I figured we might as well get the conversation started. No need to talk about the conference slate just yet, but let's look at the noncon. The schedule is: Southern Valpo UNO Tulane Kent ST @Wake USC Creighton @Oregon Jacksonville ST Central Michigan (Sun Bowl Invite - El Paso, TX) UTEP/Ark. Pine Bluff (Sun Bowl Invite - El Paso, TX) Nicholls ST We all know this has been deemed a "throw-away" season by the fans, but there is still some talent on the floor. The problem will be depth and the experience of what little depth is there. I think the 3 seniors (Ubel, AA, Talley) provide enough talent/experience/leadership to pull this team through the noncon fairly well. Maybe a slip up game in those first 5 against maybe a Valpo, but hopefully it results in a close game, not a loss. My rose colored glasses say they'll go 2-2 in the Wake-Oregon stretch, although 1-3 far more likely and possibly 0-4. They should win the remaining 4, but again could have a slip up. I really want to say 9-4, for now I'm going to go with 8-5, but reserve the right to increase the win total if the young guys look like they're ready to play.
  3. Leaving from Omaha Friday, gonna be spending Saturday inebriated and loud. GBR!
  4. This one's tough to pick. You have the typical week-after-a-blowout where the team comes out fired up and plays well. Of course you also have the not-that-impressive-spread-team-with-mobile-quarterback that is fine with nickel and diming their way down the field and almost always gives Bo trouble. One of the trends will continue, but one has to end, at least for one game. I would pick Nebraska to win, except I'm going to this game and the 6 of the last 7 games I've gone to Nebraska has lost...
  5. Remember Joel Makovicka? No. Oh, well he was pretty decent. Did Alabama ever have him on roster? Um... no? Psh, moron. Obviously he was no good, then. Now if you'll excuse me, I want to go watch some footballs games and see if the Galaxy can score a base hit or two.
  6. It'd be the perfect game if they did not field an offense. However, they do field an offense run by a very mobile, versatile quarterback. A mobile, versatile quarterback is the exact opposite of a perfect opponent for Nebraska. Heck, an offense with 11 guys with a pulse is a less-than-ideal matchup for this team, much less an offense that can score.
  7. Maybe throwing out 12 wasn't wise on my part. I do think it is important to at least look like we belong in the same league as some of these teams. Getting 8 wins against a bunch of cupcakes and getting blown out against every above average team would be pretty demoralizing for a fan base that is desperate for a team to root for. I think all sane fans realize this will be a rough season, but if we can put forward a little better product it could cull some of that freak out we are bound to see come January. I guess I see Tai Webster and the rest of this class as the future. Biggs wont be around long enough to see Miles hit his stride in Lincoln even if he RS. But if he can keep the ball slightly this season I think he will be much appreciated in Husker Nation. We'll find out Nov. 14th. In the meantime, Nebrasketball fans need to spend the next month and one day on their knees praying Webster signs early. If his LOI isn't on Coach Miles' desk by the 15th I'd be very worried, he's most likely gone.
  8. What downloaded roster are you guys using? Never really did much with downloading rosters before but a friend got me interested in it, wondered if there was one you guys thought was better than the rest.
  9. He'll get pushed around a lot in conference play, but in a few years he should be a pretty good player... I'm guessing Miles will require his guys to work a little harder in the weight room than Doc did.
  10. That was unbelievable, simply unbelievable. The ref's call was understandable, but not the broadcasters or the replay official. It was bad enough that Galloway and the broad didn't have enough sense to realize if it looks like it hit his foot from one angle, but the other angle shows it missed his foot then you can disregard whatever you thought the first angle looked like; but then for Beth to say it could have hit his arm... holy sh*t! If you split screened the two angles the moment she thought the ball was hitting his arm, she would have seen the ball is AT LEAST 5 yards away from Abdullah, probably more. Those two showed a complete lack of common sense during those couple minutes. Blew. My. Mind.
  11. I originally thought I'd like to see Biggs redshirt. However, I'm not sure it's best for the team. As Comish stated, you would hope in two years Miles has recruited someone that can replace Biggs and be as good or hopefully better. Also, I think it's sending a bad message to the team and especially guys like Talley and Ubel. You're going to ask them to sell out for this team and then put all your best players on the bench cause you know it's a wasted year?! Say you're Dylan Talley playing your senior season - your last year ever of playing basketball that actually matters - and you have guys on your team that could help you win a few more games, but he's keeping them on the bench saving them for next year while you win 6 games all season. It'd be hard not to quit on the team halfway through. Most the guys Miles has brought in have to sit out anyway, but I'm starting to lean towards the thought of - don't throw away a season, no matter what. That being said, if Biggs gets his way he'll RS.
  12. Miles is gonna have to fight tooth and nail to get Agau, and I'm not sure he can make it happen. It would help the cause if they stunned everybody next year by winning 15 games, but don't count on that. That most exciting thing from the article you posted is the clip about the Simmons kid from Australia. Hopefully Harriman can get Miles in on that kid.
  13. I'll keep in mind next year if the mens basketball team by chance receives any votes in any poll (which they won't) that it is really not that big of a deal. The intent of the original post was not to force any red koolaid down anyones throat but to show people that this team isn't as bad as some think. I personally don't think this team is good enough to make the postseason and I think peoples expectations were unrealistic to assume that the 10th best team in the Big 12 would walk all over the BIG. NU is receiving 11 votes... I'm not sure which coaches vote, but if they can KSU and Cal would be voting - along with anyone else that has been on the schedule - for NU and any B10 coach will be voting for them. It's great they are getting votes and shows signs of improvement, but come on. You're the one who ripped on posters for claiming to be 'experts' and backed it with a mere 11 votes. Yes it's great, but you asked for PC's response with such a provocative post.
  14. Roommate that is not on the team but attends every practice. That's as specific as he wants me to be.
  15. Not between Martinez and Carnes, but between Kellogg and Carnes. I've heard Kellogg will probably be the number 2 this fall as he is having an awesome spring and Carnes just can't seem to get the mental part down. Personally, I would love to see RK3 make a move, the guy deserves it.
  16. I started looking through some okie lite stuff, since that's Biggs other school... I'm not so sure he's a lock for NU. The kid definitely knows how to play to his audience, no doubt about it. Also heard a Nebraska recruiting guru - can't remember which one right now - say he talked to Biggs and he wouldn't even give the edge to NU, let alone the driver's seat that we all seem to think they are in.
  17. Akoy has said if UCONN offered him they'd be hard for anyone to beat, which I took as 'Nebraska has no shot.' However, if they are really as close as Biggs makes it sound, I'm changing my mind a bit. If Miles can make it happen, it won't matter that they only win 5 games next year, people will be jacked.
  18. going into bottom of the 4th, NU up 2-0
  19. Hearing from a couple guys in the program that Diaz won't be returning. Not that it's too much of surprise. Scholarships are really starting to open up, hopefully Miles can get a couple quality recruits in yet this year, but don't make Doc's mistake i.e. be willing to have open schollies for a year until you can evaluate and get the guys you really want.
  20. Now that we know he's got his recruiter, I'd love to see a Strickland or someone like him put on staff. From the little I know, I think Strickland and Coleman will both be as good or better developers than the previous staff, plus you'd have your recruiting bulldog and your former player with a passion for the program... all things that seemed to be a bit lacking previously. Two more good hires and I have a feeling Husker Nation will suddenly feel much better about Miles.
  21. 2 quick things: 1 - the only people watching that game were Nebraskans, maybe a couple thousand people in illinois, and MAYBE a couple thousand other B1G fans. that was not a national audience. 2 - if NU wins the conference, no one is gonna say 'yeah but remember you lost that first game! haha, take that!' because 1-they don't care, and 2-being champs is all that matters
  22. Jahlil Okafor Jabari Parker Okafor also plays at Whitney Young HS which is where Coleman was the head coach. Not saying NU will get either of these guys, but if Chin was coaching these kinda guys, he obviously knows a thing or two. There are also severl 3 and 4 star guys that would be more realistic and very welcomed in this program.
  23. Boys - if you want to get excited, check out the players coming out of high school in the next few years that Coleman coached - we're talking #2 in next year's class and #4 in the year after that. Plus a handful of others in the top 150. These guys didn't only play on his AAU team, but at his high school as well. Not saying NU will get most of those guys, but you gotta like their odds of getting at least one. Things could get interesting.
  24. this is freakin pathetic. i was pumped to be at the game sunday, hopefully they do something to get my spirits back up cause this one's lousy
  25. Purdue just dropped two to Witchita State which is something like 13-10. That series is going to be fun as I would guess the two will be 1 and 2 in the conference at that point. Glad it's at home, should be a great atmosphere. Looking through the B1G teams' schedules, it is sad how little these teams try to strengthen their resumes. We all heard the talk about how pre-conference is what matters because NU will need to raise their RPI during that time, but now we're seeing it play out. These RPIs are horrible. I'm glad Erstad is taking the 'anybody anywhere anytime' approach, because this conference really is a joke.
