If it is we dont want them anyway. I would rather have a confident qb who believes he can win the job wherever he goes. If he doesnt believe that how can he believe he is good enough to beat another team? Just like all the talk of carnes possibly transfering if tommy moves past him on the depth chart. If he does,so be it. It means he couldnt grasp the offense, or didnt have the talent, or both to beat someone who has been here half as long. Survival of the fittest.

I would agree with you in theory, but not this case. He had verballed to Tennessee, which isn't winning any championships. No, that is true. But tennessee is in the SEC which puts them on espn much more freqently than Nebraska. The huskers are lucky to get a mention, whereas sec teams are contsantly talked about.

Much like su'a just dont think we have a real shot. Sorry, but i just dont think we are attractive enough right now. We get some championships and we will get more looks, until then the vaunted 5 stars will keep going where the spotlight is shining brightest

According to a tweet on his 247 profile he is going to commit this week. Top three are N, cal and Oregon he is going to choose one of the three.

I wonder if we really have a shot with this one anyway. I havent heard much about his interest level lately

I agree, With only a contract that extends to next season does not look good in the eyes of recruits, since they want a coach to be there when they get there. I don't believe Arky will keep Smith after this season. I really do not think Arky will be anything spectacular this year. He'll get an offer from florida or fsu and end up there. Loveto see him in a husker uni, but that kind of speed and talent rarely leaves the southeast. Not gonna get my hopes up. With that kind of talent gotta wonder if there are some other issues that regional schools know about that are scaring hem off.

Watched it. I was disappointed in the amount of insight. Everything they said was very manila and obvious to anyone who has watched a game over the last season. Where was the "analysis"? Sure we lost some names on defense, but Crick was doing nothing before he got injured (don't think the line got any worse when he was gone) Dennard wasn't exactly shutting everyone down. David will be a loss, but if everyone else on the defense was doing their job, David wouldn't have needed to make so many tackles. Hopefully the defense steps up and we see some growth from all the young players. I think we will see major growth from the offense with another year from the system under their belts. IF the D matures I think we will contend for a B10 title. I don't think we are being given enough credit for our talent, although based on the last few years we probably don't deserve it anyway.

Why did they choose 97 over 95? Osu has 2 teams in this tourney. It makes no sense to me, what am i missing?

I have wondered about JT at qb too. He was one of the top qb prospects coming in, and we have seen how electric he is on the field. I would think he could easily take the job from tmart, assuming he can throw it a little better. He certainly has more moves. I think there must be some other reason he was not really given a shot at qb, curious as to what it is....

True, i realize the situations arent exactly the same. I was talking more about ghe fact that we cannot afford to take these kids for granted just because they grew up in nebraska. We all get the same espn, including these kids. They dont see nebraska on college football live or sportscenter, they see sec teams, osu, oregon, and usc for the most part. Dont underestimate the effect that national exposure can have. I was saying exactly what you are talking about. If these kids are in neb we need to jump on them early so urban and others dont get a chance on them. To assume they will automatically go to nu because they grow up there and not pursuing them to the fullest will come back to bite us in the butt.

a lot of people said the same thing about Peat. Its hard to know what these kids really think until they are signed. Until we start putting more wins in the win column and winning some trophies we just don't have the clout we used to. Unfortunate, but true. If you ask people to list the best programs in the country most people will not even have Nebraska sniffing their top ten, unless they grew up a Huskers fan. We just don't get much positive pub around the country. I live in Michigan and the only time I hear Nebraska mentioned is when they are playing one of the Michigan teams, otherwise we are pretty irrelevant. Sorry to rant, but it irritates me when kids are assumed to be going to NU. That approach ends up with a less talented team and less athletes being attracted from around the country. If we have this kind of talent in state, they should be the first ones we offer and get committed before they start to wander. If in state talent commits early (especially in Nebraska where the talent pool is pretty shallow) other teams will look elsewhere. IF they get in the door trouble starts. Get these kids offers! Stop screwing around or they are gone!

Read elsewhere he was not going to qualify academically that is why we cooled on him a few weeks ago. But, not qualify here and does qualify at Cal? Not sure i am buying that
