  1. That's not really a possible task. You just won't find anyone who has hired enough football coaches to generate any kind of sample size, and the variance in results of any such hiring is so high that even if you could it would be hard to attribute conclusively to the hirer.
  2. I wouldn't touch this line at all. Then again, I wouldn't touch any of them, so don't listen to me. Home dog Lopsided scheduling Friday night game Nebraska has covered the spread once, Oregon of all games Both teams have highly erratic, and therefore unpredictable, QB play. Both teams promise to stay with said QBs, though Illinois has at least played their backup.
  3. After seeing his press conference today, I may be the idiot.
  4. I think, in the mass of posts, a lot of people would be described as such. Obviously things come in all favors.
  5. I've developed what I refer to as my "2 post rule". I post one time, and only if needed a second time if I think I can be more clear. If we're not going to get anywhere in 2 posts, odds are slim that we ever were.
  6. That was really disappointing to me. I think I posted something real quick in the game thread about this, but after the punt return my first thought was that we could end the game right there. Being able to get the last possession before half and the first possession in the second half is one of the few ways in this game to get back to back possessions. Nebraska does get the stop on a questionable 4th and 1 , but they burned it down to 2 minutes. Then it goes as you say. Just really a wasted opportunity.
  7. Did they have a guest kid calling the spring game plays?
  8. Whose his bookie? Asking for a friend.
  9. I don't think we do. You could call out our play success Saturday based on the pre-snap alignment of their safeties. This team has not had much success when teams have numbers in the box.
  10. That's not really a bad thing for a new staff. Their expectation level is lowest in the first year, and they're given the most leash. There will be learning mistakes, anyhow. An easy schedule, especially as part of these rotating schedules we've seen for do long, is worse because you feel like you've wasted an opportunity if you're not perfect.
  11. I'm not sure what Lee is. He's got some of the mechanics down but is almost missing others. His drops are pretty good, but his feet don't stay alive once he hits his spot. I actually disagree with a lot of people in that I think his reads are ok at this level. Where I think he has a problem is in keeping plays alive long enough for his receivers to help him. I also wonder what he may do with more routes in play, especially concepts that have a better deep to shallow progression sequence . That's not a cure, his footwork and awareness are still a problem, but I think the play structure can better help him than it currently does.
  12. Great post. Confidence is indeed important. You're going to make mistakes, you're going to throw picks. It's how you come back from that and learn from that where it matters. As we can all see, that learning step is not happening.
  13. Yeah, it's not like he can throw two pick 6s on one play.
  14. What do you think if I move you halfway across the country, give you a demotion, then pay you half of your current pay with the promise in 3 years of less than or near industry average.
  15. If this job opened up tomorrow, I'd be on that train, I admit I love the idea of strongly considering him. But that doesn't mean I don't understand the other side of the argument. Impressed is a pretty strong word, and Frost as a head coach has only 14 games. So I don't think it's hard at all to not be impressed.
  16. To answer the title, I don't think so. Regardless of what I or anyone else thinks of Riley, he's not an idiot. You don't coach this long if you are.
  17. Edit: Let's just give Langs an extension then.
  18. Northwestern is too far forward to think about now, but Illinois is a dumpster fire. The short week with them having a bye does Nebraska little favors. That probably means more than anything they put on the field.
  19. Just change last week's "have you seen Rutgers" to "Illinois". Another putrid offense awaits us.
  20. There were several fronts and a lot of different coverages played in this game. In the end none of that mattered, Rutgers didn't really respond to any of it. Good practice, though.
  21. As I'm always saying, don't judge a blitz until you see it fail. Fans generally want to be more aggressive than the one calling the plays, because they can afford to do so. Today, Diaco could afford up do so, because Rutgers never handed him the check.
