There's cupcakes and then there is one that was a 6 TD underdog to a team on an 11 game losing streak. The interesting thing is, Rutgers is so bad that game didn't skew it even more.

Just a game before, it was the offense that was the "good" side. We just love to pick one side to blame. Both sides suck on tape right now, and we are no more than a couple of games away from everyone wanting Diaco's head again.

Diaco Rotates Defensive Players with 'Participation Patterns'
brophog replied to Mavric's topic in Husker Football
Yes, and it isn't much of an offense, anyhow. Rutgers is much the same, except it's not a backup, it's a transfer. Diaco's general philosophy will serve him well in this game. -

But Rutgers shouldn't, and that's what matters right now. -

I knew he'd get spaghetti sauce everywhere. Whose bright idea was it to have him make supper. You knew he wouldn't use the splatter guard, he never uses the splatter guard.

Callahan/Pelini/Riley... (Who was the worst?) Megathread
brophog replied to Redux's topic in Husker Football
I don't want to rank the worst losses. I want to talk about one of the most significant games of the year and how NEBRASKA is going to win it.- 102 replies

I wish picking up a tee could make me that happy.

How can anyone disagree with that.

That's his secret to coaching so long.

A third of their data is against a team that literally can't score.

Or just hire someone new and talk about him.

Thankfully there are more than 2 coaches in the world.

There are teams that made me angrier; maybe because of decisions being made or just being outplayed, whatever. I can't recall one that confused me like this one.

I don't discount the idea that this staff doesn't have a winning edge to it, but this team's issues are very much an X's and O's problem, amongst other issues. This is an incredibly assignment unsound team, on both sides of the ball. It's baffling how many basic tenants of the game they manage to break every week.

Having watched their early games, I can't go that far. They're definitely improving, but it's hard for a team coming off an 11 game losing streak (14 in the big ten) to not be. They just don't have much talent. Forget the horses, they're saddling up great danes. They are scrappy on defense, which gives them a fighting chance. If they can grab the early momentum, that may be enough to pull off a win. To do that, they may need to find a way to get some non-offensive scores like NIU did, because they have about that level of an offense. It's a Diaco Special is what it is.

Irrelevant. One of the big issues in analysis is this tendency to use strength of schedule as a metric and not a filter. What matters is what Nebraska is doing, not the results. Strength of schedule filters are simply means of extrapolation for comparison. For example, let's say a RB is met at first contact at the line of scrimmage, but eventually gains 5 yards. A Safety fills the hole, but because of a bad angle can't make the tackle. I mark that down as a zero yard gain, and analyze why that Safety had such an opportunity.

Yes, it does. Because 300 pound people do not change direction well. While there are some plays Lee has virtually no chance, there are a lot more where better (any?) pocket awareness would allow for a better pass.

Why the 'or'. It's a swear word, IMO.

Nebraska doesn't have third down woes, they just have woes.
