  1. What exactly do you want? Do you want every BS call that went against Nebraska to simply be overlooked because we beat Missouri's ass? You are entirely unrealistic here. I want you to recognize that there is no conspiracy. If we both took the time to put together a tape of all the BS calls we felt went against our teams this year, they would not be substantially different. Bad calls happen all the time. The suspension was unexpected, yes, but that had more to do with the NFL, in my opinion. And, I would be willing to bet we see another suspension this year. Right, because Missouri Fan would never complain that there was a Big XII conspiracy against them, like in the allotment of bowl bids, right? You can be the pot or the kettle. Whichever you choose doesn't matter, because you're just as guilty as the rest. I'm 100% positive there are Missouri fans that would complain about it. I said THIS Missouri fan wouldn't. Hell, we have people complaining that there may be a conspiracy against as it is just b/c we were involved in the whole realignment mess. If that wasn't a fumble because of "forward progress" then 90% of the fumbles that occur could be called back or that reasoning.
  2. Chase Daniel's reminds me of Chad May. Remember him? from KSU. Both whiney little bi+ches. Anyway, I have nothing against Blaine. He's doing well at Mizzou, good for him. I never understood any anti-Gabbert sentiment. IMO when a team changes coaching staffs, decommits are fair game. how many times do recruits talk up a coaching staff as a major reason for their commitment? so they are still expected keep a commitment when that element is completely altered? I may be in the minority but I guess I don't think that's fair. to me there is very little to compare between Gabbert's move and what Freeman did. Freeman pulled a douche move and I loved kicking his ass for four years for it. As for his little brother. Frankly when he committed it was like a little countdown timer started for when he would eventually decommit anyway. I was never excited about the commit and actually i think i may have been happier when he decommitted (in a "Finally, now we can move on" sense) it looks like he won't do much more then backup duty for the Tigers anyway.
  3. funny to see this thread, I had been saying that to a number of people on saturday, too. 2010 feels like 1999 so far. If not for the Texas loss that year we go to the national title game and kick FSU's tail IMO. The fumbles this year kind of remind of the 1999 only iirc it was much worse then. or at least it seems worse in my memory of it. IMO that '99 squad was the one of the best Blackshirt squads ever. Didn't Chuck call it his best D? I don't go back to the 70s but it was the best D during my lifetime up until the 2009 of course.
  4. Niles was on the 18 yard line and had not made the catch yet. The hit was around the 30 iirc and the OSU player was was VERY much in on the play and would have had a chance to affect the return if not make the tackle. Martin made the hit, took the guy out of the play (i don't mean by injurying him but just by knocking him off his feet). because he took the guy out of the play so quickly he could then look around for someone else to block. T E X T B O O K special teams block. Not to mention, he didn't exactly blind side him. If you watch the video, the guy actually slows down and starts to plant his feet and raise his arms in anticipation of getting hit but by then its too late and he gets rocked. Martin did exactly what special teams blockers are taught to do. Unfortunately a guy was hurt on the play. but guess what, its Football. What i want to know is, what should Martin have done in this situation that would have pleased the announcers? Not make the block and possibly not allow Niles to make the TD? As for Martin's celebration- he makes the hit, turns around and celebrates. there is NO WAY he knows at this point that the player is injured. After that, he continues to look for more blocks on the play. For them to whine about this legal hit and say nothing about the helmet hit on Tmart is pathetic.
  5. Personally I still want to play OU. But I want a shot at Texas in the years to come! non-conf games. at least those wouldn't happen in October
  6. Disagree. People kept telling me (neutral fans) that NU would romp in this game b/c texas sucks. I tried to argue that Texas was easily the best two-loss team and better than most if not all the 1-loss teams. they laid and egg (as teams tend to do once or twice a season) and lost to UCLA b/c they were thinking about OU and they lost to OU because the Sooners were just better. All the two losses in a row did was piss them off UT's players and maybe lull some of the Nebraska players into thinking they weren't as good.
  7. Just thought of this but i bet Niles wasn't wearing his "Finish" wristband. There's the problem.
  8. We had to know we weren't going to get a fair shake vs UT. and if we go to the championship game we most certainly won't get help from the stripes there. but needless to say, if Niles/Kinnie/Rex made their respective catches, the refs wouldn't have mattered in this one. again, 3 little catches in this game, and none of that would matter.
  9. right? or the series. Can we please sched some non-conf games against them just to try to get payback? by that time Niles Paul will have graduated anyway.
  10. another generous spot by the refs? what a surprise he was on the phone with Beebe, not with video replay
  11. i can't do another close heartbreaker. its like fate just likes to $#%& with us in this series
  12. Which coaching staff are you referring to? TO/Solich/Callahan/Pelini staffs all had their inexplicable losses in this series.
  13. this year = 1999. major fumble issues doomed that team too. and the single loss was to texass
  14. Texas isn't a better team, that's whats so frustrating. We're clearly beating ourselves. We couldn't have beat KState if they'd played like this.
  15. too late. I don't know if you've heard yet but this is the official "Red Out Around the World" game. They even made a little video before the season started. Just in case anyone was under a rock at the time, it got a little bit of national attention. They did some "out of the ordinary" struff for the OU game last year: celebrating a few of the old schools from NU and OU and unveiling a special tunnel walk, etc. I think the athletic dept is going to do something like this each year from now on, maybe Ohio State next year. Point is, because its been officially declared as this years big home game, its already out of the ordinary. Still not a big fan of the all reds but i lightened on it in the last day or so. but only a little. also, for the record, i kinda like the idea of a one-off game with black unis for the Blackshirts. it wouldn't be difficult to make it unique so its doesn't reak of TTech.
  16. would be pretty cool if they'd bust out the vertical shoulder stripe look for '71 team in 2011. how about a throwback to something like this. a modern version would be borderline obnoxious but interesting: maybe even throw in some of these stripes! or not. Here's the general link btw: http://www.heritagesportsart.com/Nebraska-Cornhuskers-c87/
  17. I've always rooted against CU and the conference brother or SOS argument could never really change that. but now.... I'll root for 'em. June completely changed the way I feel towards them. I was extremely happy for them the day it was announced they were going to the Pac 10 (the day before UNL officially announced the Big 10 move iirc). Happy that it made our move seem less like a rumor but happy for them as well. Personally, part of it may be that I'm a transplanted Coloradoan living on the east coast so I have more affinity towards anything western or Colorado (as a State). I was pissed off when Texas politics almost pushed a Colorado team out of the way for the sake of Baylor (#$%&ing Baylor?!). I guess it felt slightly personal. There is a little bit of "kinship" or whatever that they are leaving too. and frankly from CU fans that I know, they seemed to have lightened up A LOT when it comes to Nebraska. I've been to several games in Boulder, including 2005 when their student section was evicted, and their fans are jackasses, yes. There was some treatment I received that you would of course NEVER see in Lincoln. at the same time however, I've been told about personal experiences other fans have had in other arenas/stadiums and CU fans don't even compare. As for the zen master. he's a tool. I would only root against CU at this point if it meant it would easier for them to dump his a$$ and hire Mike Leach.
  18. While I think there's a good chance that it could happen, I don't buy it as a rumor, not this early. Unless CU officials are actually talking with Leach, any rumor like this is just wishful speculation at this point. I think they would need to make a "WOW" hire to at least rally the alumni/fans around the program again. I like Watson but he certainly wouldn't be that for them. Hawkins was also very much that kind of hire but I think this time it would actually work for CU. Man, that would be a heck of a hire for CU. I hope it happens for them.
  19. The only gameday i ever "attended" was when the Huskers played CU in '95 in Boulder. I didn't know they were there, just sort of happened upon their set up. The show was big then but nothing like it is now. Anyway, it'd be nice if they came, it would only add to what is already going to be an insane atmosphere in Lincoln that day-- Regardless of what happens to UT this weekend. If they end up not coming b/c Texas is 0-2 in the weeks leading up to our game... well, its clearly just another example of Texas deliberately screwing us over. what else is new.
  20. Saw this in the Denver Post: Which begs the question in regards to sellouts, the Broncos and ours: they only had 42k show up in '69 but it counted as a sellout. That kind of attendence wouldn't count for jack if it happened now. only 42k?? just b/c that was normal back then it still counts as part of the streak now? pshht. sellout streaks are a farce. seriously though. I thought Coloradoans had "better things to do" than to support a team and attend football games.
  21. I wouldn't judge a fan base based off of radio jackasses. They have to act like that or they don't have a radio show. You can either have an informative and knowlegdable sports host who gets listeners who trust their opinion (see Bill King, Rivals Radio on Sirius), or you can be loud, obnoxious and hyperbolic. Any idiot can manage the latter without much talent. and being local hosts they only need to "know" a couple teams to get by.
  22. Dear Coach Sarkisian, uh, we appreciate the first place vote. I guess. It won't get Locker back into the Heisman race though.
  23. aside from lou and mark as tv personalities, the argument itself is stupid. it seemed like Mark was arguing for who looks better *right now*, while Lou was arguing who is going to win it all in December. In a way they are both right. Mark may be right that at the moment we look better than OU and Texas, but Lou may be right that that doesn't mean they should be rewarding us the hardware any time soon. so much can happen between now and december that its really a moot point anyway. I like the Huskers getting attention like this but watching it last night, i kept thinking how they really couldn't come up with anything better for final verdict topic?
  24. Exactly. there was a thread a few weeks back about May's comments on why we left the Big 12. Something about Nebraska running away from tough competition. This was just before our first Big 10 schedule came out... you know, the one where we don't play anyone tough. but i can see where maybe that wasn't so much Nebraska-hate as it was just pure moronic douche-baggery. ie typical Mark May. Rece Davis deserves better. who did he piss off at ESPN that they see fit to torture the poor guy with Holtz and May?
