  1. University of Miami former Hurricane charged with murder; of his own teammate. Police said Pata and Jones had ongoing issues, with Pata allegedly beating Jones up during a physical altercation. Two months prior to the 2006 murder, Pata told his brother Edwin that Jones allegedly threatened to shoot him in the head. Pata did not report the threat, despite pleas from his brother to report the incident to then-football coach Larry Coker. The investigation also revealed that Jones allegedly made threats to other individuals with the use of a small caliber firearm. Rashaun Jones Charged in 2006 Murder of UM Teammate Bryan Pata – NBC 6 South Florida (nbcmiami.com) I doubt there will be a conviction other than ThugU gonna ThugU.
  2. Attendance is in decline all across the college football nation. My school is at a 20 year peak in winning and the house Rockne built does not sell out unless the right kind of people are the visitors. I am convinced the problem is the stadium 'atmosphere.' You cannot carry on a normal bleacher conversation with the neighbors with all of the unnatural distracting noise.
  3. If the only violation in play is 'analysts coaching players' then pretty much every top program is guilty. It sounds generic like a MeeToo violation that was only 'inappropriate comments.' I can't find the link but AJ Mccarron said something after the Miami Meltdown of 2013 that went: I spent many hours working with them [Bama analysts] and we figured out exactly what ND was trying to do in every situation. They actually do a few simple things but do them very well. It's a really weak complaint along with the Tide players who were 10 years ahead in NIL payments. But I think you get the point. It's a ticky tacky rule that gets talked up when people are discontent.
  4. Big East Survivor. The last teams to 'leave' collected buyouts from the schools that left early. Since the company is going bust anyway, the only question is do they want to collect severance pay or not?
  5. After PSU and UNC, and the politics, maybe the NCAA has learned they get egg on the face whenever they stay off the reservation. This always to be a cute and dry competitive advantage violation of some rule that only an NCAA lawyer can understand.
  6. Well before the OU/UGA lawsuit against the NCAA, college football was remarkably spread out as a sport. Fans of Rice and Pacific University could watch and know their team would play once against a powerful blue blood. TV contracts led to consolidation squeezing out more schools and leaving fewer king of the hill programs.
  7. I don't think you will want to subsidize Wake Forest simply for more market power. Probably the same way it worked out for Ga Tech, Arkansas, Penn State, Miami, Colorado, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Pittsburgh, and Maryland. Nationally they are all known as role players. When they go on a good run, ESPN runs puff pieces about them. When things slip into mediocrity it's as though they don't exist. Perhaps conferences will get so big that they are actually leagues, and going 10-2 is in conference is like finishing 3rd in your NFL conference with good playoff chances. Perhaps not.
  8. It would be. But I'm sure at least 4 ACC teams would cross the picket line.
  9. They bet $1 on changing Texas A&M into a powerful blue blood.
  10. I'm not sure I like the new normal, or the beginning of it, but really what is the best use of the football slush money? a 100 million renovation of a facility that's 20 years old? an extra $1,000 in the QB's pocket? a scholarship for the scout team player who is taking a beating to help the team and is unlikely to see the field? They bring a ten dollar bill and the ten commandments and don't break either one.
  11. Well our story is how Notre Dame led the way to the 2020 football season. So far no one has really disputed that our ND 'Savvy' Jack Swarbrick was on the phones trying to work out a way to play.
  12. Some of those have to be given away. Don't players and coaches get about 4 apiece?
  13. The secret is that the 'documentary' is just another 2 bit social media dud.
  14. Bowden was by far our favorite enemy. His FSU brought a sense of comradery and decency unknown to various UMs.
  15. I know right? But there's a lot of that going around lately. Would it count if NU announced you are changing your color from red to scarlet?
  16. Notice how major announcements are never pre-announced two weeks in advance.
  17. And a 6-6 team that wins its pod is like winning the AFC Central, just what college football needs
  18. PLEASE TAKE A BEER FOR ME Hartland Wisconsin and Notre Dame track star Molly Seidel wins the bronze in the Olympic women's marathon. An event in which America does not usually medal. Marathons at the Olympics - Wikipedia
  19. Yeah we never got our best teams to line up. 1993 would have made a great Orange Bowl but for a land mine game against Cousin Oliver college. the question to ask is: Do you prefer an 11 game schedule or a 12th game against Southern Illinois? Of course that ? was answered 15 years ago.
  20. It may be midwest blasphemy but I like watching the free style wrestling a lot more than the ogres. It seems so much more fluid and could turn WWF at any moment.
