  1. I am ok with paying over $1M but never for Diaco. If it was Venables or Aranda I would as they have consistenly shown results. Diaco had one strong year and the rest was mediocre or worse. Not sure why you are so dead set on using yards per game as your metric to evaluate D coordinators. Diaco, like Belichick, runs a bend don't break defense so the yardage is expected. At the end of the day, points are more important than yards.
  2. I agree. He's a Broyles award winner that had a scoring defense that never ranked worse than 27th all four years at Notre Dame and he's coveted by another P5 school. I don't think we are going to land a candidate with better credentials than that.
  3. And many of his criticisms wouldn't be very relevant as a DC.
  4. I heard he didn't get the job. It was a co DC gig right? Thought I read he would share dc duties with someone Yes, sounds like they plan to elevate Paul Rhoads to co-DC. He is currently the DB coach.
  5. This Israeli report corroborates the idea that our intelligence agencies are warning our allies not to trust Trump: Link
  6. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you did. Just wanted to add my 2 cents.
  7. While I support the notion that we should have civilians head the military, I hope Mattis gets confirmed. Trump's next pick will inevitably be a substantial downgrade from Mattis and Mattis is probably one of Trump's only appointments that I believe would stand up to him.
  8. No to Diaco...the Notre Dame defenses were not that good when he was DC there, and he failed as a head coach. DeRuyter is a possibility Diaco won the Broyles Award there and his second ranked scoring defense got them to the national championship game.
  9. They both have a great track record when it comes to being a DC. I'd be fine with either.
  10. Or they could be keeping it close to the vest for the time being. According to sock, there is someone lined up.
  11. Sorry for those of you living in blue states: Link
  12. It's viable right now--they have a Neo-con zealot's wet dream in Pence and Ryan and a House and Senate that is amenable to their wishes. That's what is so odd about this--why stay their hand when they have more than enough to brand Trump as the traitor he is and impeach him? Makes one wonder how far down the rabbit hole this thing with Russia goes and if Trump isn't the only one under Putin's thumb over there. Trump is still popular among most Republican voters.
  13. Mississippi State just hired him.
  14. I hear New Mexico's DC is interested in our DC opening.

  15. Positively. Losing Gunderson hurts though.
  16. What exactly did he do? He's leaving to join San Jose State as some sort of assistant coach.
  17. I agree. I think it's only fair to use to describe the people who actually treat this as entertainment and theater. That's far from everybody, although it's far from nobody, also. I think any understanding of history has to acknowledge the power singularly inspirational leaders have wielded. I certainly don't think it's far-fetched to say that one branch of government, if determined enough, can twist power structures in order to dominate, and dismantle their opposition. At the least it ought to be recognized that this is being attempted. If it does indeed come to pass, complacency will have played a large role in it. I think our saving grace may be that Trump is too lazy/incompetent to pull this off.
  18. I find it ironic that he uses a site known for fake news to defend himself against what he claims is fake news.
