  1. Ok thanks - I didn't follow the supreme court case closely and I didn't see what the big deal was since I thought it was allowed in Vegas already. I heard a radio show that made a big deal of the first odds for 2018 CFB Champion were released.
  2. I am not a gambler and sorry if addressed elsewhere in the forum but I thought there have been betting lines on college sports for as long as I can remember. I just assumed it was legal in Vegas and that's why the betting lines were posted. I have known guys who went to vegas during march madness and assumed they were there to bet on the games.
  3. Michigan just fell apart after that fumble near the goal line. The momentum did a 180. I have watched countless SEC vs Big 10 and SEC vs others since the early 90s. It's amazing to see the drastic comebacks the SEC makes every frickin year. UGa vs OU is another example.
  4. Conference bowl records really comes down to bowl alignments. B1G has always had tough bowl match ups, playing higher ranked teams and usually in their back yards. This year is different because there's no Big 10 in the playoffs. There are 3 Big 10 team in NY 6 same as SEC. How different would it be with just 2 Big 10 in NY 6 and 3 from ACC/PAC/B12? I think the trickle down match ups would probably have the B1G go undefeated. For example, instead of Michigan playing South Carolina it might be Penn State.
  5. Few thoughts 1. Lville always seemed like it's whole identity is wrapped up in sports. It's a city commuter school. It gave RP several chances bc of winning. Most of its BB players recruited from NYC-NJ area and its football from Florida. Just seems like a dirty win at all costs school. 2. I'm not a lawyer but couldn't the FBI just go interview every DI coach and assist coach and ask questions like are you aware of any bribes. payments etc for your student athletes? Do the same for every NBA player who played DI. Have them go on record so to speak. . See what shakes out. 3. What is the immediate response from Div 1 compliance departments? Hope nothing pops up and just accept each athlete and coach's annual compliance questionnaire or start making pointed questions to its athletes and coaches even if it potentially levels the school? 4. Will this reach into FB? Far more dollars in college FB. I guess I don't get the whole shoe thing. I am not a fan of CBB and the NBA is unwatchable.
  6. Go read the Texasshaggy or Landtheives and you will see plenty of let's get out of this crap conference. Nebraska will be back. They just need the right hire. Riley was a big head scratcher for me. Average coach for average at best program in Oregon State. It took Alabama decades and a string of failures to land the right coach.
  7. Who knows how this will play out but B1G needs to show up better in bowl games especially vs SEC. There is a lot of potential for the middle pack B1G teams to do better. Nebraska - just not sure about Riley. Have so much else going for them. Iowa - they know who they are and have beaten up on SEC teams in the past. Minn - they are not a bad program. They have bowl wins over Arkansas and Alabama. NW - pesky program and can always have that 7-8 win season. The others need to step up and not just putting their hands out to collect the B1G check. Invest that money in coaches, facilities, etc.
  8. '05 Texas vs. USC is still my number one. Such an incredible game and it had so much more ridiculousness associated with it. Anybody remember Will Ferrell trolling Matthew McConaughey with two Heisman trophies and pretending they were speakers on his shoulders? This is the second best in my life time though, no question. Maybe I am biased but I don't understand the love of UT-USC over other great finals. You had USC with dumb play turnover, a stupid call by Carroll on 4th down and one good drive at the end by VY. Yes they were both great teams with a lot of NFL stars on it like Matt Leinert and Limas Sweed. OSU-Miami was the best game I have watched. Tons of NFL, Miami dynansty/win streak, a huge underdog in OSU who came from behind, crushing defensive hits from both teams all game, a premature end of game celebration, the flag and double overtime. As an OSU fan I can't explain the emotions of dominating the second half, looking like a victory, having Miami come back, Miami win, the flag, Miami scoring a TD in OT 1 and then OSU pulling it out in OT 2.
  9. That is the point I was going to make. Their QB while athletic is not that good (yet) and they don't have the stud RB like past years.Different discussion but IMO they have been very fortunate during their run. They are talented and well coached for sure but winning titles is hard and you need some breaks along the way. They have gotten their fair share. They have not had to face a tough SEC E team in the CCG. A loss in the SEC CCG would have dq'd them during the BCS days. UT QB McCoy goes out of game on first series with injury. Not having to play in SEC CCG then getting a rematch with offensively inept LSU. Getting a way over-rated ND team that escaped their season undefeated. Ark beating Ol Miss on a fluke play last year sending Bama to CCG. Not having to face NFL-loaded OSU in playoffs last year and getting Michigan St instead who had some fluke wins. If Washington's O-line can hold up I think they can give Bama a game. The only team Bama has played with a pulse on offense is Ol Miss.
  10. Beating Tenn in Nashville would be huge. Tenn has 2 straight blowout wins over B1G in bowls.

    Bowl Games

Yep. Most years extra B1G teams that travel well will get selected to BCS/NY6 bowls in order to fill seats and hotel rooms. That has a trickle down effect in having mismatches for B1G teams. Then teams like Tenn, UGa, etc will get lofty rankings next year's pre season poll.

    Bowl Games

So I assume the B1G is taking home the most money during bowl season with 4 in NY6 bowls?

    Bowl Games

I like the B1G NY6 match ups aside from Mich having to play FSU in Florida and PSU playing USC in LA. B1G has 4 in NFY6 but that comes at the expense of some bad match ups for the B1G in the lower tier bowls - Indiana playing Utah and NW playing Pitt. Also, SEC getting home field again with Iowa at Florida in Tampa and Neb vs Tenn in Nashville. The only clear advantage for B1G is Wisc over WMU.
  14. Yeah he's got some condition. Of course it never fails they bring up his aerospace engineering major.

  16. Are B12 games even on tv anymore?
  17. That message board exemplifies everything that is wrong with the longhorn fan base. They have a 1000 page thread all about Texas A&M for goodness' sake. To their credit, there is some pretty funny stuff about A&M in those 1000 pages
  18. Is it just me or does CFB seem to get short-changed as far as media coverage. Early in the season you got MLB pennant races & post season, US Open tennis (but that seems to be fading) and NFL. Sunday is all NFL on ESPN with very little coverage of the big games on Saturday. Come October you got NBA starting up. November - college basketball gets rolling even though the games don't matter until March. Of course NFL is going the whole time.
  19. He recruited a guy at my nieces' high school (B1G state) who was in trouble of graduating high school and smoked the weed on the reg. He played all 4-years at LSU, now in NFL. A lot of B1G schools stayed clear of him. I think many of the SEC schools know how to keep kids eligible and babysit them so they stay out of trouble.
  20. I don't blame him at all. He can go be a father and watch his son playing in Lincoln next fall. Yep, he's gotta be beyond comfortable financially. Big time coach making 3/4 million on average for the last 15 years plus I am sure his buyout is multi-million.
  21. Went to an OSU-IU game a few years ago. Stayed in Indy and drove down on Saturday morning. The two-lane road to Bloomington and traffic control by the local yokels weren't use to big crowds for IU games or they just wanted to piss off all the OSU fans invading Indiana. We got there at the end of the first half. Game was pretty much over by that point.
  22. Heard on the radio he would not likely take another coaching position. He is 63, for one. Also, taking a coaching job would affect his buy out amount from LSU.
  23. Just hope some B1G teams make a bigger commitment to football with all this money they are getting. Stop going cheap on coaching (ie Bilema leaving Wisc b/c they don't pay assistant coaches squat), upgrade facilities, game day experience, etc.
  24. So an up and coming Michigan team cancels a H and H with a Bret Bilema-led Arky team in order to play ND? WTF. I know UM-ND is a long series between money schools but the match ups the last 25 years have been mostly garbage but equally overhyped by the media. So I guess Michigan is going back to the days of MAC team 1, MAC team 2, ND in its nc schedule. Sorry to be all ragey but B1G needs more marquee match-ups, particularly with SEC schools. Add this to the cancelled OSU-UT and OSU-UGa series. Also, Iowa needs to step up its non-conf schedule. I get the ISU rivalry thing but let's try to do better.
