  1. Pile jumping aside, 111 total tackles is unreal and freakish for an interior DLineman no matter who they are or play for. HELLO RIVALS......ANYONE THERE????? Like maybe an evaluator who can see this kid is blowing stuff up in Ohio, not exactly a football state like Delaware ya know.
  2. Sitting at the tailgate after watching Roy tear three hundred new brown eyes in Mizzou's defense first hand, I got to thinking about what milestones and record breaking performances I have seen first hand. Most Passing Yards(510) and TDs(7) Joe Ganz vs K State Longest FG 57 yds Alex vs Colorado Most Ints in Game(tie 3) O'Hanlon vs Boomer last year Tom Osborne's 250 win vs Boomer Those are off the top of my head. However I also saw first hand the Tim Rattey and Troy Edwards show. Even in a blowout it was impressive what they did, I think there might be NCAA records involved there. Also witnessed Ganz catch, rush and throw for 6 against NM State. What have ya'll got under your belts for great performances that you saw first hand?
  3. So if Braylon took the test on the 23rd, if he goes online he should be able to see his scores the week after next. If he waits for the results to be mailed what was that like a month or so afterwards(been so long since I took the damn thing)? Well, IF he cannot still meet the score, he has one more chance in December IIRC. That's a push in time for results if he'd like to enroll in January. Here's hoping for the best on the most recent test. Hopefully when he visited on the 16th he took to heart NU's acedemic advisors advice for taking the test. I am more than certain they tried their best to help.
  4. That should say US Army AA Niklas Sade Skers. Just playin ya
  5. Under Over/Under 55-Temperature in Ames at kickoff(and for a bonus, 15 degrees the temp drops during the game in Ames where the sun must never shine)
  6. But maybe even sweeter is two of the top three DB's in Texas. And now four of the top 21 players out of Texas
  7. Was named to the Army All-American Game in San Antonio. Tyler Moore has a commit teammate on the east team now. Congrats Niklas!
  8. Not to be a Debbie Downer here, but I am hearing from my "guy" and have seen it also being talked about on another board, the word going down is that Charles had told some of the coaches and other people in the Arkansas circle he was commmitted to them. Now he comes up here and the same thing is being said that he committed. For any of us of course it would be a no brainer, but to this kid who knows. I think it really could be a coin flip. It is a little closer to home for him and they are building their new Pig Sooooeeey Taj Mahal Athletic complex, so I can easily choosing the SEC route over a staff and program that would probably better him football wise.
  9. Saw on an Iowa board that his numbers this year have been VERY unproductive. In fact they took French's stats and threw them next to a kid that was at a similar school and the no name kid blows him out of the water. I personally believe that his ranking was based almost purely on potential and measurables. He really wants to play on offense and he couldn't catch a cold. Not a huge loss at all, considering if he saw the field before 3 years it would have been a small miracle.
  10. Did make it in for the Zou game. The kid is freaking HUGE. If the staff can pull this one away from the Buckeyes, major props. I know next year is loaded for DL out of Ohio, but this kid probably one of the best and is usually harder than hell to pull away fr4om Columbus. He does like NU, put JP, Carl and Beck on him. Then let Bo tell him how it will be, bust your tail for him and Bo will bust his to make sure you come out a hell of a better player than you were to begin with. Could be an interesting prospect for next year.
  11. Hell Yeah!!! The berm is where the party is at. Will be there on the northwest corner berm enjoying one last Clown curb stomping.
  12. This is the main reason that I dislike Burnt Cheeseburger. He often talks about players(usually opponents) as if they are old school homies. Sometimes you wonder if he ever is going to pull their you know whats out of his you know where. He can be overly critical(maybe not to Cunningham's extreme), hot/cold on a team in which he is calling a game, and more or less can think he knows more than he does. I dislike Eddie C, but I loathe Burnt Cheeseburger, 2009 winner of Douche of the Year.
  13. Again after all the crap that is swirling around Chapel Hill and the Tar Heels, can't anyone else see a NCAA Investigation and potential penalties for "lack of institutional control"? I just really can't see the kid leaving the Midwest, but who knows? Until then
  14. Alright Cyrus talk, gotta love it!! But unfortunately, as much as it kills this guy to say it, epocSoN is barking up the probable correct tree. I would love to have this kid round out OLine class, but I am also a realist and can see it being hard pulling him from the west. One thing that I think could help swing Cyrus into committing earlier would be if we could swing a commitment from Todd Peat(another uphill battle in my eyes). Think of it kind of like the massive Arizona crew NU got with Prince, Hagg, Marcel, et al. They always were their own little clique. It would never hurt having fellow Zonans with ya to help make the transition to Lincoln. The best thing that will always help NU with these high profile kids is winning of course, and that hopefully will continue and then things will take care of themselves. But until then...... C'Mon down Cyrus. THE FUTURE IS NOW!!!!!
  15. THIS. After the Blackshirts stopped the sneak and they cane out the next play in the gun, I told the guys with me at the game that NU was gonna stuff them. Pinkel should know this by now one would think. Boomer held them to a FG last week when the Tigers did the same thing, and that was when they had a chance to put Boomer away earlier with a TD. Thanks for the memories of ineptness Gary, they will be missed.
  16. God yes. Was that back in 93? Sheesh probably not a lot of us that can remember that one. IIRC NU was penalized for that more than once that game and year. It was a year that they made those calls to try to eliminate a competitive advantage of an offense not being able to hear their QB's. What a crock that was, almost way to comical. I remember games in which opposing QB's would break the huddle and then just stand next to the referee more or less begging for the flags because of the noise. It became such a crock because after they'd get one flag they'd try to milk it for more calls the rest of the game. It was the best when they's waste the majority of the play clock waiting for the ref to bail them out, and the ref would just tell them to play. Don't think the rule lasted more than that one piss poor failed attempt. Thank goodness.
  17. Green had his fumbles in the Washington game we all know, but labeling him for that game is a joke. That is like saying Martinez=fumbles, and he has more a lot more, and some have been really bad fumbles. Not trying to say Green needs to start or Lee needs to start, just gonna have to agree with Husker Josh on this one. Positive for Lee, experience. Positive for Green, an actual threat to run in the zone read game. Negative for Lee, runs like a turkey flies, not pretty. Negative for Green, hasn't learned to control the canon hanging on the right side of his body. Hope for the best with Martinez, but if he can't go....hell play them both.
  18. The first quarter was loud with reason because it was like every minute there was a reason to be celebrating. THe second quarter got pretty quiet. The second half the intensity was good. The goalline stand(even if Mizzou got 3) got VERY loud. The ending of the CU game with the kick and pick was the loudest I have ever seen first hand right up there with the '94 CU game and the last party over OU in the Big 8. The whole OU game was rocking last year was loud because with NU's ineptness on offense every defensive possession was huge and the defense responded. But after Ciante, Camstache, and COmpton stuffed Blaino it was pretty ape.
  19. Probably cause we owned the Tigers for such a long stretch at one point. I would honestly love to know how many people learned of the bell because of NCAA Football on PlayStation or XBox? Seriously I have a lot of friends that never knew the thing exosted until the video game. Anyone one on here that can admit to this being the same way they found out about the bell?
  20. Is it because he used the word Nubs? Seriously this article was not even close to bad, classless, or anything like that. The gripes about the noncalls would come from any fan base. Calling the Osbourne shot blatent, is the only part of the piece that is farfetched and blown out of proportion. He is right though on Freeman and Gabbert. For all those that spite Blaine for decommitting ever realize what I have always thought and what this guy brought up? For Gabbert more or less to have stayed on board meant more Clownahan tyranny. But for now the pleasure that we as fans get to take in regards to these two is eternal scoreboard, and the satisfaction that neither ever sniffed a win versus NU as a starter.
  21. Ditto. He should really look at Prince and Dennard as examples with what this staff is capable of. Prince came in almost reluctant that he was in the secondary. He wanted to move to RB, and now he will probably be a top ten pick in April. Dennard more or less came quietly to NU and now most of the nation knows his name(every coach in the conference sure as hell does). A lot has to do with the athletic talent of these two guys but between Bo and Marvin, the knowledge that can trump talent a lot of the times is making these guys straight studs.
  22. There was a lot of banter that Vestal could very easily grow himself into a DT with his very large frame. I wonder how much bigger he'll be heading into next season? I know he was very open to the idea actually but don't know how that has or hasn't changed. As for the OLine guys I believe Sterup is the only one that has extensive experience on the defensive side of the ball. Not sure I'd like that as his defensive dominance at Hastings SC is due a lot to the fact that he is so much bigger than the kids he goes up against.
  23. Jamal is coming in as a QB, no doubt about that. But as many of us have said(and watch his videos and you probably will agree) think he is such an explosive player in the open field that you almost have to find a way to get the rock in his hands. Whether that is in a package with him as QB, RB, WR, whatever. Think Russel Shepperd and Percy Hervin, the kid is that freaky when the ball is in his hands. I'd personally like to see him in a Bobby Newcombe type roll if the QB thing doesn't work out. But the kid can throw and has a hell of competitve edge that the QB thing just might be his permenant home. Can't wait for him to get here. And that supposedly will be in January. I understand you want to get playmakers on the field. But Newcombe played as a true freshman with the plan being that he'd take over the QB job in his sophomore year, which he did before his knee was hurt. With Martinez, if Turner plays next year anywhere, it might not be until his senior year that he gets to start at QB. On the other hand, why not let him work at improving QB during a redshirt year, and then find special packages to get him on the field after that, while still allowing him to prepare as a QB? Then, when Martinez is done, you'd have two years with Turner. Obviously it's a lot of guesswork and speculation, since we don't know how any of these players will pan out, but my feeling is that this kid is a natural leader, and that his best fit would be at the QB position in the offense we're currently running. I think that's what you want to groom him for. I see where you are coming from Herc. It is all speculation and pipe dreams at this point and time. But the things that(granted it is against HS competition) Jamal does with the ball is something this team lacks. Taylor is quick, but he hasn't shown any ability to juke someone in the openfield, Jamal is showing that already. Also at this point in their QB careers(Sr in HS vs Taykir Sr. in HS) I'd have to say that Jamal is the more polished thrower. Of course, in a perfect dream world Bubba Starling would give the Dan Beebe finger to the MLB and wear Husker red the next four years, really freeing up the possibilities with Jamal.
