  1. How do you people come up with this sh*t? By listening to OSU's beat writer from The Oregonian. Many OSU fans wanted Banker gone and it looked like it was about to happen. That's clearly how it work. They do a fan poll to decide what to do with coaches. That's what happened to Cosgrove, Beck and Paps. Oh, it's not? Clearly you're commenting about a situation you know nothing about except a few lines you've read on a message board. Never a good idea. Thanks for giving us the insider glimpse.
  2. You hire based upon your needs and vision. This is the same whether you are hiring a receptionist at a mortuary or a FCS head coach. You are running a multi million dollar operation. This team first and foremost needs leadership. Leadership doesn't always come with experience, but the two do tend to be related. Secondly, they need people that can teach the game of football. Unless you are some kind of savant, this is also usually tied to experience. Someone that was a GA two years ago usually has not seen as many situations. You also make the point that experience should only be one factor. What evidence do you have that it is the only factor be considered? They are looking to close these two "gaps", so when someone like you are BV90210 comes on and questions every hire you're logically going to have to compare them to the most current state of the program. The team lacks leadership and coaching experience. It comes down to who you would want to follow into battle. I'll take Alan Mulally over Mark Zuckerberg.
  3. Over the last few weeks, you have shown to have potential as a lifelong below average poster. You have added nothing to any discussion except that all the hires suck. It is clear you don't support anything. Please take it to the the Youngstown board Kaz.

  5. Over/under (in days) to next Scott Frost thread Line is 7.
  6. So Riley, his Boss at OSU just hired him. Who exactly was going to run him out of Corvallis?
  7. The bottom of the SEC is definitely better that the bottom of the B1G. It's means nothing, but I'll give the SEC that.
  8. I wish they were all from Youngstown.
  9. Been posted in several places that Brown passed on job.
  10. I agree with this. The biggest difference I saw in Oregon yesterday was their control of the line of scrimmage (specifically on defense). This is something that the Huskers have done almost never under Pelini (both sides). On a side note, the offense that has attacked the most during this bowl season has been GT. Maybe even TCU. There's going to be big changes in Lincoln if we start winning the war up front.
  11. You gotta love it. They won despite Urban. Thought he must have gone to the Bo Pelini School on Coaching. First half - first and goal from the one and they line up in shotgun? With a big QB. Sneak the damn thing 3 times if you have to. Then that last drive pass. What the hell was he thinking. We'll trick em. Was pulling my nose hairs out. GO SEC. Down the tubes. YES! Ohio State has never run under center since Urban Meyer became coach. Switching to that at the goal line could be disastrous. (Since they never practice it) That had less to do with Urban and more to do with Tom Herman, the new head guy at Houston. Buckeye fans can't wait for that guy to leave. They were going thermonuclear last night on that last drive when he threw the ball on first down. Would have given the ball back to Bama with less than 30 seconds. That was a terrible call.
  12. No way 6!!! Idiotic idea!!! 6 does not make a bracket, it has to go to 8. Why would you want to have two bye's. You have been watching Dumb and Dumber way too often.T_O_B I'm still on the 6 team playoff train. It's not a bad idea to allow the top two teams an extra week off. It gets all 5 power five champs in and the best other team out there. With that said, I'm leaning towards 8 each day, just for competitions sake. The only problem I have with the 6 team playoff is the bye week. In college football, every game is a revenue maker for that team. So even though a team has a week off, they also have a week of from revenue. Maybe I am wrong in my analysis or my knowledge of payments to teams for games. Revenue is shared. They have bye weeks in both FCS and D2.
  13. I have little doubt that we would have had a FSU v Alabama national championship game if we were still under the old system. This is perfect.
  14. Were both Mississippi schools ranked #1 at some point this year as well? All of the teams that have lost the last couple of days spent most of their year in the top 10. The real loser in the whole thing is TCU.
  15. Anyone thinking about getting a Buick after seeing these commercials 1,000 times?

  16. That QB made plays that very few are capable of. He is special and fits that offense. Really no different than saying, Peyton Manning can do it, so we should run that offense.
  17. Last 3 hires - Solich 18 year assistant an significant role in 3 national championships Cally One year removed from coaching in the Super Bowl Bolini Came to Lincoln late because he was busy coordinating a defense to a national championship. "Splash hire" is like a unicorn or perfect woman. There is no such thing.
  18. Can someone start a thread that allows everyone that thinks MR's hiring and staff are awful and we are doomed can chime in? That way in the fall, it can be revisited and they can either say "I told you so" or try to come up with some sort of story about how "anyone could coach Bo's players and the real story will be in 3-4 years". The WAMBULANCE is getting full.
  19. I really wasn't making a point of whether or not they played anymore. They left as minimal contributors and are still minimal contributors at inferior programs. Carnes plays quite a bit, the others get 2-5 touches a game. Carnes stats are horrid by the way.
  20. He's already indicated in several interviews that he has run multiple offenses in his career and the key is running an offense they fits the personnel. Obviously you won't know until the spring, but I doubt we go down the same road as Cally trying to turn Joe Daily into Rich Gannon.
  21. You never know. Green made the right call...good for him. Here's a list of people you've never heard from again. Feel free to add. Braylon Heard Brion Carnes King Frazier Cody Green - I know he started at Tulsa, but his play there was similiar to here. Also, don't leave out the fact that Ole Miss is garbage. This was my high point confidence game in the Bowl pick em.
  22. Is there such thing as a 'sure thing' hire? There are so many variables that into someone being successful. Urban Meyer - He bailed on Florida and no one will convince me otherwise. Brilliant move on his part as he maintained his status as a guru. I think he will be normalized as the conference gets better. As much as I dislike Meyer, they guy is on his 3rd string QB and still performing at a high level. Brian Kelly - I was for sure he was the man as I have followed him since his D2 days at Grand Valley State. He has won everywhere he has been. Jimbo Fischer - How many even heard of him before he came in as a coordinator (coach in waiting) at FSU? Bob Stoops/Les Miles - Both have had rough patches in their tenure. Same people grumbling about Riley wanted Mark Reicht...really? I'm still of the opinion that the Majority of the SEC out athletes everyone and the return of the decent team with better coaching and discipline is coming. I hope JH turns it around because it is better for the conference, but I'm not handing him the conference championship because he turned around Standford and had early success with the Niners.
  23. Have a family friend with a boy on the team that says he's pretty good when cameras and mics are on. Doesn't really have anything to do with him as a player. What I rarely see him get credit for is his blocking. He's an animal on the edge.
  24. I said this yesterday in another thread and got torched. I agree 100%. He needs another year. I can't blame him though. If he really is a top pick, then he should go. I thought there was a rookie cap starting this year, but I really don't know how that impacts him.
