Anyone wanna bet Michigan IMPROVES and Nebraska
gobiggergoredder replied to Husker Q's topic in Husker Football
Is there such thing as a 'sure thing' hire? There are so many variables that into someone being successful. Urban Meyer - He bailed on Florida and no one will convince me otherwise. Brilliant move on his part as he maintained his status as a guru. I think he will be normalized as the conference gets better. As much as I dislike Meyer, they guy is on his 3rd string QB and still performing at a high level. Brian Kelly - I was for sure he was the man as I have followed him since his D2 days at Grand Valley State. He has won everywhere he has been. Jimbo Fischer - How many even heard of him before he came in as a coordinator (coach in waiting) at FSU? Bob Stoops/Les Miles - Both have had rough patches in their tenure. Same people grumbling about Riley wanted Mark Reicht...really? I'm still of the opinion that the Majority of the SEC out athletes everyone and the return of the decent team with better coaching and discipline is coming. I hope JH turns it around because it is better for the conference, but I'm not handing him the conference championship because he turned around Standford and had early success with the Niners. -
Confirmed in an email: Randy Gregory to enter draft
gobiggergoredder replied to Eric the Red's topic in Husker Football
It should get easier playing on Sunday. -
Have a family friend with a boy on the team that says he's pretty good when cameras and mics are on. Doesn't really have anything to do with him as a player. What I rarely see him get credit for is his blocking. He's an animal on the edge.

Confirmed in an email: Randy Gregory to enter draft
gobiggergoredder replied to Eric the Red's topic in Husker Football
I said this yesterday in another thread and got torched. I agree 100%. He needs another year. I can't blame him though. If he really is a top pick, then he should go. I thought there was a rookie cap starting this year, but I really don't know how that impacts him. -
Jim Harbaugh reportedly heading to Michigan
gobiggergoredder replied to r06ue1's topic in The Big Ten
What kind of money are they going to have for the rest of the program? Michigan pushed all the chips to the center of the table. -
Coaches scuffle on the sidelines?
gobiggergoredder replied to Eric the Red's topic in Husker Football
Yeah he's a real scrub......... I mean really? He's a good player. Has a ton of ability and potential. I think his motor is unmatched. Like I said previuously, he never gives up on a play. That being said, that video was two years of highlights. I bet someone could put together a similar one for Trevor Roach. Didn't see much more from him this year than we saw from the caveman. -
Depends on what huskerboard thread you read.

Coaches scuffle on the sidelines?
gobiggergoredder replied to Eric the Red's topic in Husker Football
What evidence is there to support that the defensive line is good now, or ever has been strong? Probably the biggest group of under achievers on the team. I'm so tired of hearing how great Randy Gregory is. He did very little to stand out on the field. How so many of you let Mel Kiper tell you how good someone is playing is beyond me. I think Gregory should come back, but if he doesn't I don't think it's a huge loss. He never quits on a play, but he has a long way to go. -
Riley says staff to be named still coaching
gobiggergoredder replied to Eric the Red's topic in Husker Football
Looks like a head coach in 5-7 years. -
Hmmmm... Did anyone else notice that TA
gobiggergoredder replied to drfish's topic in Husker Football
I disagree. More often than not he hurries and doesn't set his feet. I think TA has a ton of upside. -
our DB's have never seen a kid like Kessler...i am afraid he will light it up for 300 yards passing or more.We have good DBs, but if there is no pass rush they will be the ones that look bad.

This thread is full of the kind of football insight that really says Nebraska fans are the best, most knowledgeble fans ever.

People will stop kicking to DPE eventually. Hasn't happened yet. I hope it continues.
-
Offense - Has to get yards 4-5 yards on first down. Can't spend a ton of time on the field because of o line depth. Defense - Have to pressure the QB. Hopefully Paps stays away from the 4 DL standing at the line Special Teams Brown needs to earn his scholy. I doubt they punt to DPE, so they will need to figure something out. General (Obvious) Pelini teams have always lost the field position game. No stupid penalties(false starts or PFs at the worst times) Turnovers

Bo Pelini's connection to YSU
gobiggergoredder replied to Voice Of Reason's topic in Husker Football
I investigated further. I can't confirm this, but it was on football scoop so I believe it. The job was actually posted on farmersonly.com. Bo was just checking it out and fell in love instantly. After a few saucy emails they began their courtship and he became coach. -

Is that Bo's cousin? He probably likes football too. -
Bo Pelini's connection to YSU
gobiggergoredder replied to Voice Of Reason's topic in Husker Football
I did a little more research. It appears as though he was born and raised in Youngstown. Although I could not confirm it, he may still have family there. He also went to a large University in Ohio. Interesting indeed. -
"There isn’t a lick of pressure."

3 runs..punt, 3 runs..punt, 3 runs..punt. They'll be exhausted. -
This means Scott Frost is OC.

Offensive Coordinator and other coaching vacancies
gobiggergoredder replied to bisonwiches's topic in Husker Football
Probably the most irrelevant coach on the staff. Control the line scrimmage and average talent will perform well. Bofense has been proving that for years. This is also shown in NFL draft and Heisman voting. I'm not knocking Brown, but I find it funny when people talk about Rex and Ameer and say how the coaching put them there. Tevin Coleman, like Ameer, is special. Had we controlled the line of scrimmage this year, Ameer would have had 2,500 yards. If we are going to hire anyone that is unproven, go ahead and let it be RB coach. -
DPE was so good he overcame the scheme.

Scott Frost turned down HC job...
gobiggergoredder replied to Eric the Red's topic in Husker Football
Him not taking the CSU job shows to me that he is more interested in making the right decision than taking the first reasonable offer that comes up. I think he made a gutsy call that will ultimately work out in the long run. CSU is not a big time program and McElwain is returning to a conference that he has already coached in. Frost will have power 5 opportunities in the next 2-4 years. What I believe to be a good decision on Frost's part is the exact opposite of the decision that Bo just made. Bo should have taken a coordinator job a top 25 school rather than a low level head coaching job. If there were no offers, he should have waited. Even if he had not had the leaked audio issues, I'm of the opinion that the career path that he just chose will make it all but impossible to return to a high level as head coach. Because of budgetary reasons, he will have a difficult time recuiting and hiring coaches. Frost isn't going to put himself in this situation unless he thinks it right....JMO. -

This board is going to be a disaster when Riley loses a game. Bo isn't the coach anymore. let it go. -
GT: Nebraska at Hawaii - 12AM - ESPNU
gobiggergoredder replied to huskeraddict's topic in Husker Basketball
Those two points don't even com close to accounting for the turnovers, lack of an inside presence and the sketchy D in this game.
