Exactly. That sums it up for me.
2008 - #4 Mizzou & #4 OU -- Final Record (9-4)
2009 - Texas Tech -- Final Record (10-4)
2010 - Nobody. We were on the verge of winning every single game. -- Final Record (10-4)
I hope that this is finally the year where our offense keeps up with the consistency our defense plays with every game. Once our offense can keep it together the ENTIRE season, we will be back.....i mean REALLY back.
I see us losing a couple this season for a number of reasons
1. Martinez still hasn't proven his throwing ability and overall leadership at the QB position.
2. Our O line is young and inexperienced. Also one of the most important parts of our offense, especially on a team that depends on the run and protection for our QB with terrible pocket presence.
3. It's our 1st season in a new conference. If we were to run the table and win the conference title in our 1st season, that would be the headline of the CFB season. They would be talking about it on ESPN forever. As much as i would love to see it happen, the rest of the B1G won't let us do that.....at least in year 1.
4. WRs are still unproven. Kinnie showed flashes of his talent as a receiver last year, but that's just it....flashes. We need consistency bigtime at that position. Kyler Reed is our only receiver that has been consistent with catching the ball. If Martinez is smart, he will be looking for Kyler a lot.
Bottom Line
--Bo has this program moving in the right direction. We've improved every year since he's been here and I think that this season won't be a letdown in that regard. Like I said, I see us dropping a 2 (WISC, OSU, MSU, NW, IOWA?) who knows? 2011 isn't the year we compete for the title, but I really like the chances of competing for it all in 2012.
