  1. In that scenario does that eliminate Pelini from ever coaching at UNL?
  2. Day has to worry about keeping coaches on staff. The big one coming up for him is Larry Johnson.
  3. Day is recruiting well so I don’t anticipate the problems that Solich had.
  4. Recent Twitter activity by Mr. Francois should quiet any concerns.
  5. I think for right now the biggest game on the schedule should be the next one. The one after that and so on and so forth.
  6. JD could not have picked a more turbulent time to play for the Huskers as this team had a rough transition from Riley to Frost. Going forward, I hope he uses this time as a learning experience. You’re going to have a lot of bosses during your career. Chances are good you’ll have ones that you like and ones you don’t. Try and do the best job you can regardless of the environment. I think he has so far.
  7. I don't think JD likes the cultural expectations that have been set forth by Coach Frost. Its unfortunate that he is stuck in this brutal transition from Riley to Frost. The resultant lack of winning has not helped. Despite all that he has continued to play hard and make plays on the football field. JD is sending mixed signals right now. Do you want that from a senior leader going into what may be a strange 2020 season? He needs to figure something out soon. This would be more unneeded drama for Frost to navigate through.
  8. What is the defintion of being a “breakthrough” player? Some people like chocolate and others like vanilla. For me, it would be a key play like forcing a turnover, making a key stop to force a punting situation, etc. Offense, make a play to keep the chains moving, so on and so forth.
  9. If you are a former player or have Osborne’s blessing you get more leeway as a head coach at UNL.
  10. Levi Falck is joining the team as a grad transfer from South Dakota. Falck is a 6’2” WR.
  11. Not sure if I believe it or not. I’ve never discounted it either.
  12. Where is the 3rd District? From what I read is he had trouble getting votes in western Nebraska.
  13. Loebarth: Frank’s firing is always going to be polarizing. There is no middle ground in the fanbase. All we can do is project what may have happened had he been retained after 2003? Opinions would vary. Ive not given the Osborne walking away more thought? Should he have had the autonomy to name his replacement? Was that not Byrne’s job? Was Bob Devaney an AD when he promoted Tom to the HC position prior to the 1973 season?
  14. The Osborne/Solich transition has had a lot of “what if?” discussion from our fanbase. However not too many folks talk about the “what if “ in lieu of that 2006 governor race. What if Osborne had won the governor race over his opponent in 2006? With his new responsibility of serving the state he would not have time to directly help the football program. Lets hop in the Delorean. In 2006, Callahan would have been in his third season. Steve Peterson is the acting athletic director. At the time Callahan was building momentum slowly off that poor 2004 campaign. We know what happens in 2007. Peterson gets fired after the Oklahoma State game and Callahan gets fired on the Saturday after the Colorado game. Do the chain of events happen in 2007 if Osborne is not available? Where would the program be today if someone else was running the department? Would Nebraska still be in the Big XII? How would the new guy relate to Harvey Perlman? Who would be coaching? How would the other sports look? It would be interesting.
  15. How big were the kickoff returns for TDs in both of those games last year?
  16. The last two years have been a reset if you will. The 2016-2018 cycles were eviscerated, creating a self imposed sanction with player losses. Three different coaches with three different personalities.
  17. The three year throw away with Riley coming off the toxic Pelini tenure has been a double whammy to the program,
  18. Minnesota has a lot of momentum right now. They took advantage of their very favorable schedule last year and have capitalized. Can Fleck sustain this success long term?
  19. Wisconsin against Ohio State in Indianapolis, again? The apple cart needs to get knocked over. Very stale right now.
  20. Sometimes you have to have the “want to.” I wonder if he is playing for Nebraska just to appease his father?
