  1. So they're making up the freedom of the press problems in Russia? I know several Russians who have moved here and have told me how it is there. Also, the 2nd link I showed has the U.S. ranked 23rd. There are definitely differences in the way that Putin handles his country than what is deemed acceptable in the West and there are definitely corruption problems. My point was that Putin's support is something that Western politicians can only dream of and that what Eastern and Western cultures consider to be the traits of a strong leader are different. My point was he does not have the kind of support you're saying he does. It's all a fantasy. When you destroy dissenting opinions it's funny how everyone suddenly seems to like you. Reports of his approval are likely made up as well.

  3. It might not make the season a success but it is a good start to the next season.
  4. Marco Rubio is a pandering joke. Honestly who cares what we call it? I'd rather not attach muslim to it, but that is what it is. And I'm not going to fault POTUS for not attaching the word either. After all it ks his job to be diplomatic. Nope, it's the presidents job to wave guns, the flag, and kick a$$ of anyone who doesn't believe in democracy, jesus, and capitalism. Or that's the narrative of some. Who said that? Well, it was a common narrative after 9/11. (at least the having guns and waving them part). Bush was heavily criticized for being flown to SAC Air force Base to be in the bunker. They, for some reason thought he should have been flown directly to NYC, to be there to lead/fight whom ever our enemies were going to be there on the ground. It was a pretty stupid attitude. But, hey....in any situation like that and now this with ISIS, the people who don't like the President will come up with some really really really stupid arguments. Like, hey, he should emulate Putin. 'Cause Putin is such a bad ass. He hunts bears while shirtless. He also has the amount of respect from his people that any Western politician could only dream of. Additionally, the preferences of Eastern cultures and ideologies are far different than what we deem "bad ass" in much of the West. Many of those people prefer a traditionally masculine leader over one fills out NCAA Tournament brackets. "Having marginalised print media, Putin turned his attention to Russian television. Broadcasters that once carried lively debates were turned into stultifying Kremlin instruments. As state-controlled TV stations began to spout increasingly convoluted theories to demonstrate their loyalty to Putin, Russian propaganda entered the realm of the absurd – so much so that Soviet propagandists would hide behind their Putinist counterparts." http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/the-internet-was-the-last-free-zone-in-russian-society-now-putin-has-it-in-his-grasp-9332153.html It's pretty easy to get that kind of respect when you rank 176 out of 196 for freedom of the press. https://freedomhouse.org/sites/default/files/Global%20and%20regional%20tables.pdf Being a tough guy does not make you a good leader. We were fighting ISIS before Russia was, yet suddenly Putin is a bad ass and Obama should be like him? Stupid.
  5. And what if she is? It's happened more times than you can imagine. I worked for a criminal defense law firm while I was in college and saw more than a handful of false accusations that absolutely ruined the life of the accused even though it was proved that the girl was lying. I'm not saying that's the case here but it's certainly believable. How do you know what I can imagine? I have no opinion on whether she's lying or not. Armstrong talking to a reporter implying she's lying because someone (his friend) told him it was consensual is not a good idea.
  6. Because hopefully he has nothing to hide. It's still idiotic to talk to a newspaper about it right now. It looks like Armstrong spoke to the police, who then released his comments to the newspaper. No, he talked to the newspaper (in addition to the police). He said police told the three that they wanted to hear their side of the story about what might have happened. “After talking to us, (the police) said you guys should be fine,” Armstrong said.

  9. Really don't like that Armstrong is talking to a newspaper and implying that the accuser is lying.
  10. I don't get why Armstrong would agree to answer their questions right now.
  11. 6-21 against Top 10 opponents at one point... probably would have been fired for not winning enough games that matter. Pelini wasn't only fired for not winning enough games that matter, but keep telling yourself that.
  12. Wait...what am I missing here? Riley beat a Top 10 team in Michigan State... It's a little confusing. Michigan Dad posted how many games were played each year against top 10 teams and how many were won. LoMS posted the respective coaches actual records. The only stat that means anything is zero. Zero championships in US football. So we should have hired someone who'd already won a national championship. Got it.
  13. The problem is that I think you will need to throw it in order to move the ball on us consistently. Our rushing defense doesn't tend to give up grinds. We will give up a 10-12 yard play but then we will stuff the next two and force a 3rd and long. The only thing you'll be stuffing is your crying faces with walking tacos and Maid-Rites! And this is why most people are smart enough to not try and have an intelligent conversation about a game on opposing fan boards and you end up with just the $%^&*( trolls from the other team for the most part. He's not a troll you just have no sense of humor.
  14. huskers15, I don't know why your post was moved, but you read way more into everything than you should and misinterpret most of it. I have no problem with France wanting to keep their identity. I don't have a problem with their policies for foreigners. They make them clear before anyone comes there. If you want to live in France you need to attempt to become a real French person. I don't want everything to become globalized and all the same. The policies don't make sense for the U.S. because we've always been from all over. As for my comment about you being delusional, I made it because you were commenting on a post by The Dude where he pointed out some facts about France. He literally made no comment about his own opinion in it. It wasn't even possible for him to BE delusional in that post.
  15. America has done much to destabilize the region and help facilitate that rise of terrorist groups including ISIS. America bears some responsibility for why the Middle East is the quagmire that it is today and it is easy to understand why many have hostile attitudes toward America. I know several Muslims that are here on student visas working on a Ph.D. I will pass along the message that Muslim foreigners are no longer welcome here and that they should conduct their groundbreaking research for some other country. I guess 1400 years of terrorism doesn't define a religion, yet 200 years of Western slavery defines whites. Who's saying that? Seriously, your posts make no sense. At least I can attempt to have a conversation with Coach, heh.
  16. You my fellow Husker fan are delusional. I don't think you know what the word delusional means.
  17. I don't remember a lot of the details but France is very strict in how they deal with foreigners. They want to make sure everyone conforms to everything French so they don't lose their identity. There are laws on how much French music has to be played on the radio, for example. I'm guessing Muslim women have way less rights on when/where they can wear a hijab. http://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/french-government-revives-assimilation-policy/ So strict that what happened on Saturday is just another bump in the road right? "What difference does it make"! What are you trying to say? It's hard to know sometimes. I didn't even state an opinion about anything in that post.
  18. Some are way more biased than others. When it takes me looking at one link in the article to find out they're basically making things up, then there's a problem. When the headline for the entire site is taking a shot at the other side, then there's a problem. You have to take what they say with a grain of salt. The main thing is you have to look deeper into what they're saying than just take it on face value. That's what you should do regardless of where the article/story is from.

  20. I think everyone assumed the Big12 were being a*holes. It was pretty suspicious that they had Missouri playing Iowa instead of Nebraska playing Iowa. There's no way that bowl thought it was a better match up.
  21. See that's the thing, I'm not asking about some Joe Blow who is entirely devoid of the physical tools to play in the NFL. Like you. Or me. I'm asking about Tommy. He's clearly athletic enough. And he has a strong enough arm. He just lacks accuracy. That, and he's prone to force throws that sometimes end up in picks. So, back to my question: If Tommy could gain some accuracy--say, Ganzesque accuracy--and throw fewer picks, would he play Sundays? This will be a tad anecdotal, but, I've heard pro scouts and talent evaluators at the college and professional levels say accuracy is one of the most challenging things to correct, if not the most challenging. In most cases, players either have it or they don't. I don't believe you're trying to downplay the significance of accuracy at all; but, "just lacks accuracy" is monumental when it comes to describing a quarterback. TA is a 53.7 percent career passer with a 1.6 TD/INT ratio. I think a reasonable goal for him would be to try and get his completion percentage up to around 57-59 percent by the end of his senior season. But, this also ignores the criticism that he's not very good checking down to his other receivers, which is crucial in the NFL. And the criticism that he can't throw the ball out of bounds. He just is not a good decision maker in general.
