  1. There was a Shocker sign at the Red River Rivalry a couple years ago that was bigger and was pretty detailed. About fell out of the chair when I saw it. As for a sign, one can never go wrong with the ole stand by FREE LP Thunder Collins too.

Um, seriously? I should hope so...what was the goal prior? Pat yourself on the back for this little nugget. (size 5 even) He means that it is now a realistic goal for us to win every game. Duh.

Lots of math problems would be impossible if that were the case. Because Suh, Prince, and all those players aren't on the team this year. You think anyone we play this year cares where we were 3 years ago? You think it makes us more dominant and a better team because we sucked that bad 3 years ago? It makes ZERO difference in the outcome of the 2011 Wisconsin game. It's not a math problem, it's football. The idea is to compare the rate by which the team is improving ( R ) against the overall success of a team (S). And make no mistake about it, we are improving. Time is the key issue (T). So here's the math problem: S = R x T. Solve for S.... Because the sides must be equal, the higher the values for R and T are will lead to more success. The R value was essentially 0 when Bo took over and the number has no doubt increased dramatically since. Now I'm not saying we can actually put a number value on anything except time (and sorry for the word problem, I'm sure most of us thought we were done with those), but this is the basic logic of the concept spelled out in a simple way. Use the hot/crazy scale and see what side of the Vicky Mendoza diagonal line the team is on. Ofcourse you would replace hot/crazy with improving/time. +1 good sir. I love HIMYM.
  5. Thanks.................we are staying at the Holiday Inn downtown Lincoln, I think that it is like 3 blocks from the stadium or something like that. I am taking my grandfather who was a legendary band director in Arizona and he can not wait to see the band. I heard the band plays downtown or something on Friday nights, is that true, and if so what are the details?? Most people I've talked to who have been to the San Diego Zoo and the Omaha Zoo (myself included) like the Omaha zoo better. If you have any desire at all to go to Omaha I recommend you do it. What Hercules said about the band is true, Friday night at Misty's. As a student, I can say that I'm 95% sure that they won't be at the pep rally, but again it's the first pep rally of this nature so I'm not absolutely certain of the details. Another heads up, it's a dry campus even on gamedays. 9 times out of 10 the police will look the other way (particularly if you're from out of town), but I did see some Misery fans getting ticketed last year. There are some pretty good off campus tailgating spots though.

  7. I think a pick and a couple fumbles sound about right, So...OVER O/U defense allows 250 total yards Tricky question because you never really know when we're gonna start putting in our 3 stringers, but I'm still going with under. Over/under 225 rushing yards?
  8. Big wish: Play for the National title (like every supporter of every team ever) Not-quite-as-big-yet-more-unrealistic-wish: Beat Iowa by 700 points.
  9. Unfortunately I couldn't read this article being as I don't get good wifi connection in the middle of my cornfield. What did it say? Was it good?
  10. +1 so, losing state has to take claim carter lake for one year? So much hate for the absolute best town in the world with a mayor that wears overalls all day everyday.

    Coooookies

This made me laugh so hard that I actually had people in the room move further away from me. +1 good sir. Unfortunately I only have 1 to give, but I will see if I can get my whoopin' two friends on huskerboard to get on board with me (no pun intended).

I'm glad to see that Northwestern didn't write out "IOA" on the Hawkeye's cookie because that would have looked weird, what with NW always getting the W... Also go ahead and eat up the NW cookies, but if Kirk and his gang send cookies don't eat them. They will make your kidneys fail. Okay. I'm done with my corny (albeit humorous to me) Hawk-bashing for today.
  13. Sorry. No bars. Only "historical significance." I'd have to say that puts a pretty big damper on the responses you're going to get. The only really truly historic thing in Lincoln is the State Capitol Building. It's a stone fortress built in the 1920s that has the distinction of being the only state capitol that was entirely paid for upon completion. We were a frugal people back in the day. Other than that......... We call it the Prairie Penis. You could mention that. Haha. I always call it "The Penis of the Plains"
  14. Surprised to see nobody put this up yet. Speaking as a student, we personally don't do a lot besides the shoe thing and the "GO BIG RED" flag. As for the crowd in general, however, we are loud as hell for the entire game (so long as it's competitive) and the "Husker Power" chant is awesome. It's excellent prelude for the Tunnel Walk (which is probably going to win the sportsnation college football tradition tourney).
  15. Pretty close from memory. Tell me, how many drinks into the night until you guys start belting this out? I would guess quite a few drinks.
  16. I find all of this kind of stuff to be encouraging. This kind of leadership is the difference between an okay team with great talent and a great team with great talent. Let's hope it shows on the field.
  17. The Battle for Carter Lake.... Boom.
  18. Very glad we had the chance to continue the Friday game! GBR! It'd be cool if CU gets the same opportunity in the P12, too. I am going to miss the games with Colorado a lot, too.. For as much as I didn't care about them while we were in the B12, throughout this year, they've earned a lot of respect from me. I hope we're able to schedule a annual game with them down the road, or play them in the Rose Bowl annually. I think this Iowa rivalry has the potential to make the Colorado rivalry look insignificant. Just feel bad for sCUm fans who are going to have to find another teams fans to spit at. I agree with this. As much as I disliked CU, almost every year it was all but a certain that we would beat them. This may end up being the same for Iowa, but I absolutely HATE Iowa and their stupid fans with all of my heart, mind, and soul. So, for me personally, this match-up is a much bigger deal.
  19. Don't you think this is gonna hurt recruitin'?
  20. You got it a mere 10 hours or so before me.

    Bo Pelini

You might be a little high with your percentages, especially after the last 3 months or so. Add in college football fans in general and you're waaaaaay off. Why should Bo Pelini care what all of college football nation thinks of him? Does the SEC care that college football nation look negatively on them because of their recruiting practices that are in a moral gray area? I don't think so. Obviously Bo isn't doing the same thing, but apathy towards an all-and-all hopeless quest for a good reputation is a transferable principle. And I hear the SEC is doing well these days.
  22. Michael Scott says: Very nice aspeedlin. I used that just yesterday, only it was the youtube version.
