  1. It is very clear that homosexuality is NOT a CHOICE!! Most gay individuals do not get sexually stimulated by the opposite sex, so that is there only option. Experts mostly agree that it is genetic or something that is instilled in a person in there developmental years (way before a person can intellectually decide for themselves what type of person they are attracted to). Is sad to me that a vast majority of homosexual suicides are from religious families. The gaurantee that a gay person is going to hell must be a huge weight to bear for our young that did not "chose" who they are attracted too. I would say to anyone who thinks it is a choice than put it to the test yourself. Ready! If your straight then now you chose to get stimulated by the same sex, even just mentally not physically. Just once, nobody will know! No Luck huh! Some choice. I think everyone is bisexual. Just a matter of where on the scale you fall. Are you 99.999999 percent hetero or homo or somewhere in between.
  2. If we change our defense to the 43 and LD is responsible for covering the wide side of the field then his tackles may decrease. Whereas in the peso he had responsibilities to cover the whole field from his LB position.
  3. Minneapolis might be a place to visit for a week. I don't think the B1G area is an option to live for me but I think for getting an education or to play football its one of elite areas to reside. GBR
  4. Hey Herbstreet, A skunk is still a skunk if called by any other name, except OSBORNE! I dunno if Jesus did all of the same things that the devil did then, ya, WHAT? Thank goodness some coaches find it important to instill integrity and honesty in there players and coaches, especially when dealing with the NCAA! Maybe Tressel is feeling a bit vulnerable now, well earned!
  5. Does Texas control the NCAA also? If not, they will get there turn eventually. Oil has priviledges!
  6. I honestly could not have said it better Herc. Bohls is showing his arse in this article by bending over to shake his finger at a runaway. Almost all the years during the BIG 12 are forgettable for most husker fans, especially during the "Dark Times". Don't get me wrong we had some great athletes along the way but after the 90's run, something was bound to give. TO's retirement mostly. I am just glad we were smart enough to vote NO on the intial formation of the conference because we knew how agregious it was in favor of Texas. It's your conference Texas, do as u will, without us thou, for better or worse we are not one of your siblings any longer. Salute!

Taunting should always be penalized and also Unsportsmanlike conduct. In some cases I think career or game suspensions are necessary to the player(s) capable of severe acts of either. The severity of there actions should dictate the punishment to themselves along with a 15 yard penalty on the extra point attempt or kickoff, which I would be ok with the other team deciding where the penalty will be inflicted. Under no circumstance should a score be removed from the scoreboard if the penalty occurs afterwards. Excessive Celebration only makes sense to me if you allow a certain amount of time to celebrate in the first place, 20 sec. ie. Any celebration done on the field beyond that time will be considered as excessive or taunting and will get flagged as such. Any actions directed at the opposing team or fans during celebration is taunting!

It is apparent that some of the games will be decided by unsportsmanlike, taunting, or show boating penalties that now will negate the score and put teams in long yardage situations to make a first down! They will also remove game winning scores that occur late in the game. I, like most of you, can hardly stomach the idea of this happening and being the deciding factor as to who wins, but it will. I don't see that the severity of the penalty warrants the punishment of losing the game in this fashion. I believe that there should be a time limit allowed for after touchdown celebrations on the field. Let's say 20 seconds or so, after this time frame then excessive celebration may be called if the team is still celebrating on the field but I still think taking away the score is to harsh.
  9. Welcome to the B1G conference Husker Nation! Wisconsin at Camp Randall under the lights. This will be a war! (drools) GBR
  10. I would not underestimate the ability of Carnes to learn the playbook before fall arrives. It is early in his progression and whether its against the 2nd or 1st string defense, he executed well! I see the same senario that some have already posted- the chance that Martinez gets banged up and then a door will open for Carnes to play if he doesn't get the initial "starting spot". At the very least he seems good enough to play before we put another hobbled QB in. I also know Bo is not afraid to start the guy he thinks will give this team the best chance to win. GBR
  11. The "if you win out even against the worst 11 teams in America" comment was a bash on the pro BCS people who say the regular season is a "playoff" system. Just making a point that it could not be a true "playoff" system if a team wins every game and still has no shot at the "title" game (TCU) regardless of its strength of schedule. So if you are a 18 yr. old HS FB standout who chooses Nebraska because of there precious strength of schedule shouldn't mean Hawaii doesn't have the better team on the field any particular year and deserve a shot if they run the table.
  12. It seems to me the move is more for allowing Gilleylen to play the Runningback position on 3rd and long situations. Having another guy on the field in these situations who knows how to run routes and can catch the ball (hopefully) will add to our diversity. I don't think he will play much so it is not a big loss or gain either way.
  13. Marrow seems to be a great fit for short yardage situations on both sides of the ball. I could see him being a MLB if we tend towards the 43 defense against the BIG Ten and also a Quick hitting power Fullback that can block. Both types of contributions will be welcomed on this team.
  14. The yearly pass/run percentage is hopefully tied into what the teams strengths are. If the players of a team execute the run plays better than call more running plays. Good to Great play callers are that way not so much by the percentages they call run/pass but its the great play calls in critical situations that makes them so. To be able to take advantage of defensive weaknesses and have the offense execute well is something I hope Beck masters.
  15. Terrell Farley is my all time favorite Husker LB, he was lighter than most linebackers but his blazing game speed and tenacity were second to none. When I watch current LB Lavonte David it reminds me of TF. As fast as LD gets to the ball, TF was FASTER! Thanks for the post concerning Farley.
  16. Just one?? 1984 Orange Bowl (1983 season). That was one of the best offenses in college football history. Defense was still running a 5-2 to stop the run oriented Big 8. Playing in the "neutral" Orange Bowl played in Miami, came up inches short vs Miami. The next year that defense with many of the same players back was the top rated defense in the country. That team along with the 1982 team should have been back to back undefeated national champions. others ( I will try and limit to winable gamesand limit to 10 total) 1982 Penn State (see above) the last 2 Big 12 Champ games. 1966 Orange Bowl vs Alabama (1965 season) Devaney said he didn't do a very good job in prep for this game and should havae won it. L 39-28 1994 Orange Bowl vs FSU (1993 season) 1996 Big 12 Champ Game vs Texas 1999 Texas 1978 Mizzu 1998 Texas, that stopped NUs home win streak, which would have eventually been record. The 84 Orange Bowl wins hands down. Unfortunate for the loss because a win would have cemented the teams rightly deserved title of Greatest college football team in history. I know some may argue that 96 is better but with that win over Miami it would be easy 1, 2 switch for any list.
  17. I actually think this kind of staffing change will be the wave of the future. To only dedicate one or two coaches to the offensive line when it comprises almost half of the players on the field seems an oversite. I think Stai will be a great addition to the staff. It seems the performance of our o-line was partly due to the lack of enthusiasm to block for Martinez so I hope that doesn't happen again.
  18. I am also out on any "corny" name. Farmaggedon is used already so stealing it would be easy but unoriginal. We definetly should leave out any references to MO. I am not a huge fan of "labeling the game" but if so maybe something along the lines of Combine Clash, Silo Slaughter, would suffice. Don't we get to play PState every year. Why aren't they our biggest "rival"? Our storied history with PSU is much more significant than Iowa's.
  19. I am not even sure that if we run the table that it is a forgone conclusion that we will play in the NC game. The B1G conference is not that highly touted even with us joining. If 2 or 3 teams from the SEC, Big XII, Pac 10, etc run the table then I doubt we would get the nod. Would we have gotten it over Oregon and Auburn last year if we went undefeated? Did TCU have a chance last year? Of course they did. They just needed one more team to lose to make it.
  20. Our bowling team is actually very, very good. Although that doesn't really answer your question. I believe they have won more national championships than our football program. Lets just keep racking them up regardless of the game or sport.
  21. That's because the writer is a moron. TO is not dictating the way this offense is going. If he was we'd be moving closer to what Urban Meyer had and less like what Chip Kelly has. Those systems require two different types of running backs and slightly different types of qbs. Tom Osborne is the AD, he has and will continue to have a major decision making role on the direction of all the huskers sports. Considering his expertice, especially football! It has been suggested that TO wanted Bo to consider keeping Wats when he first took over as Head Coach and he did. I don't believe TO involved himself in the specifics of the offensive scheme and play calls because thats what the coaches get pd. for and thats where the major concerns are.
  22. As you may have noticed I am fairly new to the board. I am extremely impressed with the knowledge of most of the regular posters I read on here ie. nuance, suh fan, moose, and sometimes even knappy. Its obvious some are "connected" to the highest levels in the husker kingdom. Thanks for taking the time to keep us distant 40 yr. AK'n husker fan informed. Although I am a rookie, is hard to imagine doing without the Huskerboard. Once you attain a certain level of quality and speed of information, it is hard to regress. Thx, you know who you are.
  23. Part of the reason we did not fall any farther was due to a majority of the teams behind us lost.
  24. Isn't that the same A&M defense that finally proved LSU has an Offense. Remarkable how similar these programs are [Neb. and LSU]. Obviously not how they played versus A&M but in watching the Tigers in there Bowl game seems to give me a clear understanding of what Pelini is striving for offensively. LSU's Offensive Coordinator nailed that game.
  25. I doubt seriously that people who are given the honor of calling a play go through the rigorous training of learning the play book. To say that since the soldier did not know the proper way to call the play i.e. [Red Hot Poker] that it obviously was a joke from the start is rediculous! I am sure the honoree in most cases is given a few options of what they can call and they pick from the choices. Options of pass or run and who they might like to see get the ball are probably the extent of there knowledge so beyond that they get assistance as to the exact play that is run in there name from someone else who knows the plays.
