  1. Agree 100% on this. If Rhule is going to preach that he’s looking at the overall process, unless there was something that went terribly wrong (like Wager), Rhule is going to retain his guys to work thru that process. Expecting drastic changes after 1 year (and we haven’t even reached the halfway point) isn’t even worth the discussion.
  2. Do fan bases honestly know who assistant coaching staffs are at other programs? Or do they just automatically assume their coaching staff is not as good as others. I understand that there can be “great coaching staffs” but they aren’t publicized at that time. Coaches can grow and get promoted at other schools, but nobody knows about them until they actually get those promotions.
  3. Very good points. I have said that HH should continue to start in the meantime, but I do think Sims coming back as starter isn’t out of the question. The whole situation is clear as mud.
  4. I don’t see it changing, if NU wants to continue to play on Black Friday. Both teams are going to play each other every year, and for now, both teams are willing to have that game every year on Black Friday.
  5. It was Donavan’s nephew. Dominic is the father.
  6. All the talk about NIL and how it’s the magic elixir for all our ills gives me tired head.
  7. I know Sims wasn’t great in his first 2 games, but it’s unfortunate he was injured, and wasn’t able to play against Northern Illinois and La Tech. That would have been a good opportunity to play well, try to improve, and gain confidence. I do think Sims will play again and possibly start at some point the rest of this season. I think the coaches have to think that Sims can’t be as bad as he’s shown in the first 2 games.
  8. I don’t think Rhule will go with a “run-first” QB like Sims or Haarberg in the long-term. While he will want a QB who “can run”, it won’t be his priority. Rhule and Satt also thought that Sims would be a better passer than he has shown so far, and didn’t think they would need to rely so much on QB run game. But, with the injuries at RB and WR, they’ve had to change things up for this year.
  9. I don’t think Rhule will want to use this type of offense for the long-term in the Big Ten. With the 4 teams coming from the PAC 12, and the Big Ten West divisional matchups going away, the slow, plodding offenses currently seen in the Big Ten West will need to adapt and improve, or get left behind.
  10. So am I for the most part. It’s too bad I remember things more from 30-40 years ago compared to 1-3 years ago.
  11. I thought that the the current transfer rules (immediate transfer without sitting out a season) started in 2021 or 2022, because that was the same time that NIL started, and I remember the talk about how the combination of the two threw college sports in a loop. So, while it may have been discussed for a while, it wasn’t in place until Rhule was gone from Baylor. I do think that the new transfer rules, has forced Rhule to adjust his mindset of building a program, in terms of both keeping players and bringing them in as transfers.
  12. I don’t think Rhule will take that approach at all. Yes, he wants to develop players, but he’s doing that by identifying guys early, playing as freshmen, and developing. If someone isn’t on a clear track of contributing after a couple of years in the program, Rhule will recommend he moves along, so he can use that scholarship on another young guy or transfer. I don’t think Rhule will get all worked up about “burning a redshirt”.
  13. Ehh, he played the bulk of his career with 2 teams under big contracts. When he was let go by the Dolphins, he signed with the Rams to prove himself for one more good contract, which he got with the Buccaneers, where he won a Super Bowl. The signing last year with the Eagles was on a lark (by both parties) near the end of his career. With non-guaranteed contracts, guys play with a lot of teams if they have a long career. Shoot, even Deion Sanders played for 5 teams.
  14. I immediately thought about the dealer being able to sell these vehicles, and jacking up the price cuz it’s all UTED OUT. It’s also probably a wrap on the vehicle and can easily be taken off before selling.
  15. I don’t think you are alone. 1620 the zone had a segment on NIL contributing yesterday, and they brought up the question if people trust Davison to run the main NIL fund for NU. They didn’t have solid evidence, but Josh Peterson did say he was going to reach out to people he trusts to get their point of view on the Peeds & Davison.
  16. Right now, Nebraska isn’t running very many plays, because we aren’t doing well enough on first and second down, which is causing our average 3rd down to go to be too long. Throw in the fact that our o-line can’t block well enough to convert 3rd and long, and that’s not a good recipe for success. I know that we have had a few long runs on first downs, which may skew the numbers for average first down gain, but the inconsistency shows in our average length of 3rd down and the 3rd down conversion rate.
  17. Nebraska did a fairly good job of moving the ball on Minnesota, but mistakes/turnovers cost us points against them in that game. Even with the INT before half, the killer mistake was the false start penalty when NU was inside the 5 in the 4th quarter. NU had a chance to go up two scores with a TD, and had to settle for a FG on that drive. Since the Minnesota game, Nebraska has done a poor job of getting into the red zone all together. The scoring has been by big plays.
  18. Fair enough. My bad if I misunderstood posts or didn’t go all the way thru the thread. I think the coaches are trying to get thru the Illinois week, and then use the bye week as a chance to re-evaluate things for the 2nd half of the season. A big component of this is the health of Sims. Rhule seems to be willing to do anything to get the team wins, so who knows what to expect the rest of the season.
  19. I’m not exactly sure what you are complaining about. Yes, the offense isn’t good. But, don’t you think that the offense we are seeing is a by-product of the available talent, the QB situation, and the injuries at RB and WR. I’m not going to pretend that Satterfield is an offensive genius, but to be saying he needs to be “more creative” is a fool’s request. He’s being asked to run the offense which Rhule and him thinks is the best to win games right now. It’s not what he was running at South Carolina, because he doesn’t have the same talent at Nebraska. A coach can only run the formations which he has the talent for, and for which the opponent has weaknesses.
  20. I was slightly mistaken about the class of 2020 guys. They would only have eligibility into 2025, if they used a redshirt after 2020. Hutmacher is technically a Junior, with only 1 year or eligibility left. He played 11 games in 2021, 12 games in 2022, and has seen action in all 5 games in 2023. I remember some people who were upset about Logan Smothers “burning a redshirt” in 2021 when he played in 5 games after having a “free year” in 2020.
  21. Your ankles are made out of paper mache.
  22. I get what you are saying, we all get tired of the same coach-speak. However, I think having a padded practice on Sunday, after a poor performance on Saturday is an indication to the players that their effort on Saturday wasn’t acceptable. Now, that could be Rhule throwing crap against the wall, but it is trying a different approach instead of staying with the status quo.
  23. Good to see the coaches aren’t happy with the effort during the Michigan game and that they have higher expectations. This Illinois game is a pivotal game in establishing Rhule’s turnaround in expectations of the program.
