I think people just want to get defensive at times. I admit that my first response in this thread was pretty defensive. I agree that NU has a long history of recruiting California, and they have turned out to be some of the best Huskers on the field. I get why Mr. Gebbia is defending his son and Riley, but him and that 7-on-7 coach need to understand that NU has been recruiting NU for 40+ years, and what Riley is doing there is not new. If Riley is fired, I am sure the new coach will have an assistant or two with ties to California.

I know kids commit to coaches, but Benning basically said that NU needs to get back to recruiting kids to the school. As you said, your coaches may or may not be at the school you entire career there, but the school will always be your school.

So we have the dad of a true freshman QB telling NU fans how we should feel about a coach who has shown nothing but poor results at Nebraska. Someone needs to tell Mr. Gebbia that NU recruited Californian well before his son and his friends were even born, and I am sure NU will be able to recruit California after Riley is fired.

My mom would make Loose Meat sandwiches and call them Tastee Burgers (I think there was a Tastee Burger on 48th Street in Lincoln). I liked them better than Sloppy Joes or Taverns, because I wasn't a big fan of the sauce.

I also have a serious chocolate addiction. I will eat most any candy with chocolate in it. I like Hershey's chocolate more than Nestle, although M&M/Mars isn't bad.

If you deem Frost the right man for the job, you pay him the salary of that job. You don’t short change him for any reason.

When Scott was coming out of high school, he was touted as the best pro-style QB available. He was a high school All-American who was throwing the ball all over the place in his dad's offense. I think it's understandable when he went to Stanford to play for one of the best NFL QB minds of all time.

Agree with everything. I am sure Larry thought he was hot sh*t in Wood River, and he was one of a few coaches at the time who threw the ball a ton in high school. He probably didn't want Scott to go to NU and hand off to the RB all game and throw the ball 10-15 times a game.

I have said this numerous times. You don't pay for the candidate/person, you pay for the job. If NU wants to be a top ten team, NU needs to pay in the top ten salary range, of all of college.

I listened to the Carol Frost interview with Dirk Chatelain. They spoke briefly about Scott's recruitment in high school. Carol said that Scott and his dad were blown away by Bill Walsh, and that's the main reason Frost ended up at Stanford. I'm sure Walsh sold him on being a future NFL QB.

FOX had the first choice over ESPN, and picked that game. Can't really control for their time slot.

FOX selected it to air in the afternoon and lead into World Series Game 4.

I'm a self-proclaimed uniform dork. I don't think there is enough of a contrast, especially when opposing teams are trying to get quick look at numbers when dealing with substitutions.

I think we are saying the same thing. EDIT: Basically, NU fans know good football when we see it. We haven't seen much of it under Riley (or any of the previous coaches post-Osborne).

While wearing all gray uniforms. I am ok with it, because their school colors are scarlet and gray. But, their uniforms should be illegal, because the numbers are dark gray, against a light gray jersey.

I appreciate the original tongue-in-cheek post. It's not very shocking to see the b******* fail when it's being done by a bunch of pasty Nebraskans.

I also think they have miscalculated how critical the fans and media can be when things don't go well. They just aren't used to this microscope, and it's not a good fit.

I don't have an issue with that either, but the students and others shouldn't get mad that we can't pull off an entire stadium b*******.
