  1. I am good with our traditional uniforms but when looking at what Nike has done for Oregon, I would have liked to been in their Shoes! Pun intended. Recruits appear to like the options that Nike has done for Oregon. That's all I am sayin! Recruits are coming around to Adidas. They've done a much better job of marketing lately, and don't underestimate the impact that Adidas' apparel contract with Kanye West can do. Adidas has released a line of Yeezy (is that right?) football cleats for their pro athletes to wear. I wonder if their colleges will be able to wear them also.
  2. Keeping them under 150 yards rushing would be huge for NU. As far as points, 33 is my over/under on whether the D is successful for the game.
  3. McKewon and Nyatawa discuss the defense vs. Oregon on this week's Pick 6 Podcast. They said that you won't be able to completely shut down Oregon, but NU should look to try and make Oregon less efficient. One measure to look at is points per possession. If NU can hold Oregon to FG's or no points on a possession altogether, that would be a win for the defense. The focus should be on stopping the run first. NU might be able to get a few 3 and outs that way. Their WR's are awesome though and NU will have to realize that they are gonna give up some big plays. The key will be how the defense responds to giving up those big plays. I also hope that Langsdorf/Riley don't try to respond with big plays and focus on getting first downs and controlling the clock to help out the defense. My worst fear is NU giving up a big play, the offense going back out and going 3 and out, a bad punt by Lightbourn, and then closed out with another quick score by Oregon.
  4. I would suggest you try Phat Jacks if you think there isn't good BBQ in Lincoln. Nebraska beef does not need to hidden in a sauce. Texas beef doesThere is plenty of good BBQ that doesn't need to be hidden in sauce.
  5. Nothing wrong with starting your day by stopping at Cliffy's for a stiffy (drink that is).
  6. http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/mailbag-how-much-florida-state-will-miss-the-injured-derwin-james-091416 I see it as both. It would be a big win for Nebraska, to finally get one of these games, but I am sure the national media will chalk it up as Oregon on the decline and Nebraska being a little better than what some expected after coming off a 6-7 season. Nebraska won't be judged on being good until they beat Wisconsin and Michigan State this year. NU doesn't play Michigan State this year.
  7. Don't get caught up in the "under the overpass" terminology. What they are referencing is Lot 7 of University Parking for the football games. It's west of the Stadium, and some of the parking lot is under a large overpass. There isn't a lot of natural space around the Stadium with campus area on 3 sides. What little parking there is near the stadium, most of it is on the west side. I have tailgated in Lot 7 countless times with my family and friends. It's a great time with tons of fans, booze, food, and all around good times. With a 2:30 game, most people will start showing up at the lot by 10:00, and the place will be a huge party from 11:00-2:00.
  8. Unless you are downtown I always see people smoking pot down there on game weekends.Yeah it's probably a little more relaxed than I remember, but it's nothing like Eugene or Boulder where it's all pot, all the time.
  9. You guys should try this awesome ice cream place called Dairy Queen. Sometimes they call it DQ for short. They have these things called Blizzards which mixes candy and other stuff with their ice cream.
  10. Please make sure to smoke a big fatty while you are walking around downtown and tell all your Duck friends to bring their wacky tobaccy. The Lincoln Police Department can use some extra revenue and wouldn't mind holding you in jail while the game is going on.
  11. Nothing against Raising Canes, as it's pretty good stuff. But there has to be better food out there other than a chain chicken place. That's like saying "you gotta try the Chick Fil-A".Agreed. But I can't think of what's worth while and open after closing time other than what I listed.Ahh, I didn't realize it was open late night. We would always hit Amigos or Lazari's for late night food.
  12. If I were you, I would skip the golf, find a good place for breakfast at 9:00 and then start pre-game festivities after breakfast. The bars will be open at 9:00 or 10:00 Nebraska time, and there will be plenty of fans hanging out at that time.

  14. I know that smoking tree is legal and pretty highly used in Oregon, but Nebraska is a totally different place. Nebraska is one of the most conservative states in the country, especially when it comes to pot. You might want to keep your blazing of green to yourself and not out in the open. It would probably not be a good idea to do it at the game, and especially the Champions Club.
  15. Dang! I loved Doyles! Everyone calls them "teasers" now but to me it will always be a doyle! I thought Doyles were so easy, but rarely won on them. "I can move the spread 6 points either way? I'm in!!!"
  16. My bigger problem with how the conference set up the schedule is that we play all three of those on the road. It stinks for the team and as a fan, our home conference schedule sucks. It seems like this is the issue every year since joining B1G. We end up with one year of awesome home slate, next is horrible... Yeah, I agree that it stinks, but it's just one of the issues with large conferences and the difficulties of working through the teams in the opposite division. EDIT--Although the conference should have done a better job with the schedules for Iowa, NU, and Wisky for the West Division. Looking at things historically, those are top 3 teams in the West. Those teams should play 1 on the road and 1 at home each year, but Iowa gets both at home this year, while NU has both on the road this year.
  17. The Big Ten makes the conference schedule so we have no control over when we play those games. I know... Do you?

  19. So, the actual penalties of the penalty aren't penalizing enough, so you want to create additional penalties to penalize the penalizer?
  20. That can only be an on field decison. Do you want the punter to receive the snap and then look to the sideline for a call? Punter just needs to read the defense better and know his capabilities. Punters know this - if MR told him we are going to just punt everytime because you are just a freshman and not as skilled as SF - what would that do for the kids confidence? You don't even have to tell him that's what you're doing. But if you going to have an honest conversation with the kid, it's not that hard to say "Hey, given the circumstances I just want you to focus on Punts. If we're going to fake it, we will make the play call and you don't need to make that decision." Done. Listen to MR's post game. He had no clue that it was coming... It sounds like they had a game plan with Read that if they were seeing the right conditions to green light the punter, but Riley was dumbfounded that it happened then. Maybe I missed it, but I think HCMR said that under those conditions (i.e., when Wyoming did not send anyone to rush him), Caleb was meant to hold the ball for longer before punting to allow the gunners to get down field to the punt returner, not take off with the ball. Caleb wasn't given the green light to run the ball, it was a brain cramp that he decided to do on their own. He was supposed to roll right and delay the punt as long as possible.
  21. I saw this site tweeted out on Twitter and I thought it was pretty cool. It gives a little review of the X's and O's on certain plays from each week. Here is a review of the Wyoming game, with some focus on Run-Pass Option (RPO's) that Langsdorf/Riley have designed for Tommy. I really like the idea of the RPO, based on pre-snap reads and this stuff is pretty cool. I have no idea how to break down plays, but this site does a pretty good job of it. https://huskerchalktalk.com/2016/09/12/wyoming-one-for-the-record-books/
  22. Yep, they will make sure that sore shoulder is nice and numbed up before game time.
  23. I think it was funny to see all the predictions for a close game before the Wyoming game, and then seeing the fans freak out because it was a close game for 3 quarters, so were those fans expecting a close game then expecting a blowout during the actual game?
  24. Man, Northwestern really sucks.
