  1. I loved it when NU went no stripes on the pants in 1995. I thought the stripes just looked kinda lame, and the 90's was a time of solid pants across college football.
  2. Callahan's last game was in 2007. But it still seems odd that NU didn't wear all-whites under Pelini until last year's Fresno game. I could have sworn they wore all-whites a time or two before then. But, I am also getting old.
  3. The 2001 uniforms I believe did say Nebraska across the front. Yes, in very small font.
  4. I wouldn't mind, but not "Huskers". Nebraska is the CORNHUSKERS!! I hate how it's become Huskers in common use. It's not the Nebraska Huskers, it's the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Says the guy who's username is ColoradoHusk. DAMN YOU ALL!!! LOL.

Says the guy posting on HuskerBoard, rather than CornhuskerBoard. LOL. See that's my point. It's ok to use "Huskers" on it's own, or in combination of another word (Husker Power!!). However, if the team nickname is put with Nebraska, it should be the CORNHUSKERS. As in, "Here we are in Champaign, IL today to see the Nebraska Cornhuskers take on the Illinois Fighting Illinis (not sure if they still use fighting) in a Big Ten battle."

  7. I've said it many MANY times on this board, that in my opinion the 2001 uniforms are the best uniforms in Nebraska's history. Simple. Classic. I am a big "sock" guy, but I didn't like how the teams wore the socks all the way to the top of the uniform. I just thought it was too "uniform" and odd looking across the whole team.
  8. I was going to ask about people's preference on shoe color. I think the white is cool, makes the team look fast, and is a call back to when I first started watching the Huskers as a kid in the 1980s. However, the most successful NU teams in my lifetime have worn black shoes. Black shoes tend to make the team look "slower", but they convey an aura of toughness. Myself, I am torn and don't know if I have a preference.
  9. Do you really sit down and watch film on the Huskers? Its really video, but that is progress for ya. Those new fangled contraptions just keep popping up everywhere. Are you part of the staff? Do you get paid to do that? no, my son is a football coach and he has shown me what to look for. Sorry, just goofing. I'm sure I do a ton of time wasting endeavors that others would find odd. The only thing with "breaking down film" is that as fans, we don't have the play call/design at our fingertips, so we don't know the responsibilities for all 22 guys on the field.

  11. I don't think many in the Hipster crowd are aspiring to be football officials. I think that's what is causing the lack of bearded football officials.

  13. It's great that Langsdorf added the FB trap, but I would rather see him figure out how to run with the QB and IB.
  14. What's all this then? First I've heard of it. He visited Bo and his former teammates - true enoughMcMullen is from Ohio. He probably made a trip home and spent a night with friends and former teammates. Not everything is a conspiracy.
  15. If we are so thin at DE why do we keep moving guys out of that position? Who else have they moved out of DE? It would make sense to try McMullen somewhere else as he hasn't been contributing much at the DE position. Maybe he'll do some good inside where we also have guys struggling to get to the QB. I don't think we have any depth to speak of at DL or DE, probably been quite the challenge. Stoltenberg Banker said the Southern Miss game was McMullen's best game so far. Stoltenberg's future is at DT. It made sense to move him there in the spring.
  16. I was joking with friends this weekend and texting them "Can we fast-forward 3-4 years to when Riley quits/retires/is fired?" I am not saying Bo should have been kept, and I want Riley to succeed, and am willing to give him some time to figure it out at NU. But, the first 4 games are not giving me a warm, fuzzy feeling about the hire that was made. Between the game management, penalties, and defense, I am not impressed so far. It's easy to fire a coach, it's pretty hard to hire the correct guy after a firing is made. You keep saying that but you also keep not doing that. Which is it going to be? Are you going to give him time, as you keep proclaiming? Or, are you ready to throw in the towel and get the next coach as you also keep alluding to? Considering I am not the AD at NU, it's not like I am going to fire the guy. I am a fan of Nebraska, so it's not dependent on the coach. I will watch every game, cheer for a Husker victory each game, and go on with that. My comments about the concerns that have popped up during the first 4 games in Riley's tenure are merely those. I will give credit when credit is due, and I will give criticism when that is due, as well. But, to not question anything that is going on with this year's team is not what I am going to do.

  18. Really happy with the way TA has been playing this year. Without Tommy, NU would be in a world of hurt this year.
  19. Your math is wrong, it would be a 7-5 finish. I wouldn't be thrilled. I am sick of the "no blowouts" talk. I want to see wins.
  20. I have been wondering about this, as well. If the QB is going to do a lot of quick passes, the d-line might as well try to get hands up and tip the ball.
  21. Actually Woody Hayes and Darrell Royal both popularized that phrase in the early 60's. Not Dr Tom. Although he may have repeated it. FWIWYeah, and the game is nowhere like it was during the days of Hayes, Royal, or even Osborne. The rules have changed so it's so much easier to pass, and the QBs and receivers are better, too.
  22. Nice, just think of his potential with more experience in a couple of years. He could be a game changer. As long as Banker doesn't put him on the McMullen diet plan.
  23. Our time of possession is so great because the other team scores so quickly.
  24. Id teams know they can pass at will against Nebraska, they don't even need to try and run the ball. Even BYU probably had a decent amount of their running yards were scrambles by the QB.
