  1. I am sure Tyler felt a lot of pressure from his family to come to NU. Going from Florida to Nebraska had to be a big adjustment. He might not have like Lincoln from day 1, but was starting as a frosh, so that made up for not like the city/university. When that PT dropped as his frosh year went on, he probably got more frustrated and started to "hate football". Now, I wish he would have stayed tough and stuck through everything, but he didn't want to go through that. He went back home to where he is more comfortable. If he flames out at Florida, he probably didn't have the mental makeup to match his physical skills.
  2. The reasons the East Stadium was expanded were club seats and skyboxes. Those are the high revenue seats. The couple thousand seats they threw on top were just gravy. It would have to be a similar proposition for any further expansion.
  3. Not true, in fact, just the opposite. Second deck will be vertical, not horizontal thus closer to the action. Similar to west stadium dimensions and design (less pressbox) Hey ColoradoHusk, I'm bored ....... my dream project Existing south stadium was a tinker toy construction thus fairly easy to demolished section by section. 2/3 of first deck still there after final product, only 1/3 destroyed. In fact just leave it .... NO demolished at all. Then simply build the second deck on top of first deck (vertical stacking) Cool diagram, thanks for the clarification. My one question is that how many seats would that type of upper deck hold? By cutting off the last 1/3 of the south stadium, you are probably cutting off 40% of the seats in the South Stadium (due to the way the whole stadium expands out towards the top). That's the one thing that would make it less feasible.

  5. . Are you kidding? He could have been a man and said it didn't work out, and left it at that. Instead he's crying to the media about his playing time as a true freshman. Yeah, and he's gone from NU and now at Florida. Who cares what he says. Transfers happen for a number of reasons and at pretty much every school. Correct. And all of those other transfers resulted in the players bad mouthing the school they had left. right? Yet everyone is bad mouthing this 20 year old kid whom they have never met and have no idea what he was going through at NU. I am not saying what Moore did is right. I just love how we jump down the throat of this kid for answering a question. Yes, he is "bad mouthing" the NU program, but everyone within the program knows the truth, that's all that really matters.

  7. What would we expect him to say, that he loved it at Nebraska and he wishes he wouldn't have transferred? Who freaking cares.
  8. When Bill Byrne became AD, his goal was to improve all the non-football sports. He wanted to NU to win the Sears Cup (that's what it was called back then) for the best school with the all-around athletics program. He pumped money into other sports and added teams to NU. When Pedeyshine became AD, he said the football program had been neglected, and started pumping money back into football. It was the one good thing he did at NU.
  9. And that's just fine. If we were to add any more than about 2-3,000 more seats the donation levels would crash and that would be the first step towards the sellout streak ending. Memorial is just fine as she is. Do I wish they would have built both endzones different? Absolutely. Does it seem like a bit of a patch job at times? Sure does. Is it still one of the very best stadiums in the country? You bet your ass. Wouldn't mind seeing them increase the North video board size a little though Unfortunately, that's what happens when there are additions/expansions done to a stadium that is now 90 years old. I know you aren't complaining about things, and neither am I. With the East Stadium expansion, there is a nice symmetry that the stadium has. I love the stadium being on campus, and it's amazing to see how the stadium has changed since I was at UNL nearly 20 years ago. When I was a frosh in 1994, the HuskerVision video boards were added that year. We thought that was amazing. The university has done a good job of updating the stadium since then. Yes, it is sometimes "lipstick on a pig", but it's our pig.
  10. Yeah, because an area with new, fun places to hang out, eat, and drink is totally lame. From the information I have seen, it's going to be a mix of local establishments and chains. I walked around the area in July, and I thought it looked really cool. If it's half as successful as the KC Power & Light district, it will be a huge success for Lincoln. I congratulate Lincoln for being so forward thinking and making this happen. I didn't mean to give a tone of overly complaining or suggest that it should not have been further developed. It will be good for Lincoln, and it's already been good seeing dollars spent on upgrading the downtown infrastructure that has always been awful. It was just a reflection on seeing the area transformed from a mostly run down dump to an full developed urban entertainment area that will not be a whole lot different than what many cities have. Something gained, something lost. I still don't see the point of an outside company trying to enforce a dress code. I can hardly imagine a dude walking into a bar on a blazing hot summer day being thrown out to the tune of "We don't serve your kind here!". No problem, bro. I think it would be awesome if the entire area was filled with local businesses, but it may not have been possible. Urban renewal has been going on all over the country the past 2 decades. Hopefully, the people of Lincoln and Nebraska can make the area unique.
  11. Not true, in fact, just the opposite. Second deck will be vertical, not horizontal thus closer to the action. Similar to west stadium dimensions (less pressbox) Both end-zones currently rise higher than the balcony in the west stadium. That's a fact. You would want to put on upper decks above those seats? In the North End-zone, there are skyboxes at the top of the section, which would be blocked by an upper deck. In the South End-zone, I guess an upper deck could theoretically be added, but they would basically be the highest/furthest seats from the field. I am not an engineer, architect, or construction guy, but I don't even know how a balcony could be added with enough support to make it feasible.
  12. First time I saw aerial view by inserting east stadium expansion. Excellent job ! Photoshop? Can't wait until real picture (August 31st). Next project: South Stadium two-deck expansion. North too. I have seen so many people on this board mention upper decks in the end-zones. If you look at the picture of the stadium, there are already too many seats in the end zones, and the end zones go really far up/out. I don't know how something like this could realistically be done.
  13. If any bar hosts a UFC watch party, you will find plenty of affliction shirts and bedazzled jeans.

  15. The worst is when people cry so much because "they can't afford their 5 kids". You know what, nobody said you needed to have 5 kids!!! I have 2 kids, and yes they do cost a lot of money. But, I don't complain to anyone who will listen that "I can't afford them". If you don't want kids, wear a rubber, or make your partner have birth control, or both!!! I have 2 kids and make more than enough to support them. A family of four with an annual income of around $110,000 between the two of us. Our kids were not planned and we used plenty of birth control etc. Personally wouldn't change my life for anything, love my kids. So the bolded part above is one of the most uneducated things you can see or hear in my opinion. You must have super sperm!!! It's awesome you are able to provide for your kids, but there are people who don't earn good money who continue to have kid after kid. I didn't mean to piss anyone off, and I know accidents can happen. But, for the most part pregnancies can be avoided (I am not talking about abortions either). Even with married people, men can get snipped or women can have their tubes tied, if they don't want to use birth control pills or condoms.

  17. Especially since Lavonte David was 6'1" 225lbs when he was a senior and Gerry is 6'2" 220lbs as a freshman. I think he'll be fine. What make Lavonte so great were his instincts and his ability to not let blockers "get on him". Gerry has the speed we all want on the field, but size and speed won't automatically make him a great OLB.
  18. Benning and Sharp were saying today that Gerry is "thick". We have all seen the pictures, but he is a well-built guy. For him to make the move to LB is not that big of a reach.
  19. Boom. Saw that coming, but not so soon. Hopefully speaks to the staff's confidence in the other guys we have at safety. I know I just said Gerry could be something special at safety in another thread, but I think he could be an even better OLB. He has first round ability at that position imo. Didn't Osborne do this quite a bit in his days? Take a big athletic safety with some speed and move them to LB. Yep...Jamal Williams. Remember him blowing up the Florida QB for a safety in the 96 Fiesta Bowl. There are much earlier examples than that even. Troy Dumas. Ed Stewart. Lorenzo Brinkley. Ernie Beler. When the restructuring of the defense took place from the 52 to the 43, that's exactly what they did all across the board. Corners moved to safety. Safeties moved to LB. Linebackers moved to DE. I still dont understand to this day exactly how Trev Alberts won the Butkus Award. He wasnt a Linebacker that year. He was a defensive end. Travis Hill, Dwayne Harris, Dontae Jones, were all OLB in the old 5-2. It just flat out about speed. I think Trev won the Butkus because it was all semantics. Even up to the '94 team, the rush ends were given the position of OLB. It didn't quite make sense, but that's the position they were named.
  20. Did Ed start at safety too? He must have switched early on, because he was a linebacker for several seasons if I recall correctly. Ed was recruited as a safety, and I don't know how many years he played there, but he was part of the overall shift in philosophy that occurred in the early 90s. Safeties were made LBs, LB's were made DE's, and DE's were made DT's. Terrell Farley was about 6' and 210 lbs, and he excelled at WLB. Now, football is slightly different now but the idea of taking safeties and playing them at WLB in passing situations is not new.

Remember him blowing up the Florida QB for a safety in the 96 Fiesta Bowl. I believe Troy Dumas also made the switch from safety to linebacker for the 94 team. Also did that with Ed Stewart, who ended up winning the Butkus Award.
  22. I have a huge deceleration problem when I putt. I hardly ever get long putts past the hole. I don't mind because on long putts, I am just trying to get it close. But, it is a killer when I have the putt right on line and it ends up 1-2 feet short. I am just so afraid of hitting it 3-4-5 feet past and having a tough come backer. This is a problem I have as well. If its not 1 foot short mine usually end up closer to 5-10 ft by. I've worked a lot on trying to get better at this. Can't seem to do it though. Which is why I asked the question about the putter grips. If you have "speed" issues, the putter grips probably won't help you much. The fat, putter grips are designed to take your "hands" out of the putt so your hands don't pull or push putts off-line. When I watched Dufner at the PGA championship, he would generally do really well on lagging the long putts to tap-in range. Where he struggled were with the putts inside 10 feet (more on Saturday, when he seemed to be more nervous).
