  1. I'm sorry but he is winning. It might not be the way you want but his win percentage indicates he's doing a lot better than about 108 or more other D1 programs over the last 6 years.
  2. I'm stating that Bo's program isn't doing the things stated in those articles.
  3. The media and mouth breathing fans want us to become like the flavor of the month school and run a good program like them so we can compete for national championships. Here's the two stories our press won't bring up (at least for very long) about the current top 2 programs. Forgive me if they've been posted before. I'm having a hard time reading through all the muddle as of late. I found them on another board that's pretty pro "Nebraska way" which is about more than winning games and thought they were worth sharing. Makes me respect our coaches and team even more now. 4. Works in theory. But won't Tressel be like 100 years old in six years? He's really a vampire so we're sold for the next 50 yrs. Why else would you wear a sweater vest?
  5. I'm sure thats because he's in the $EC and that conference is so loaded the rest of the football world isn't good enough to drink the spit from those teams. Any other conference he's 12-1 every year. (He loses the NC game against the $EC team). I'm sure after 6 years of those losses we'll fire him anyway. By that time Tressel will have come back to a mid major after his show cause is us. Have won a 2 conference championships at that level and be ready to come back to the B10. And he's proven that he can beat those guys at their own game. We better start adding tat shops and high risk car loan places to Lincoln right now.
  6. Nick Saban: "It's harder to play good defense in this day and age."

I think Saban is the type that wouldn't have the common courtesy to give a guy a reach around.

It's common courtesy to give someone a reacharound?! Not where I'm from junior.

He's right it is. It's also why offensive numbers of old are being blown away these days. Offenses are a protected species.

  7. I took my two daughters to there fist game this year 7 & 9. I'd say get the players coming out of warm ups down below and then get into the stand for the tunnel walk. My girls really liked all the cheering and yelling. They also like taking their shoes off and thrusting them in the air for kick offs. We skipped the pavilion but that was my choice and hit Barry's before the game so they could see the band come through and stare at people. Most important thing to them was the cheer leaders and Val's pizza. I would also rent the stadium seats so the fat ass next to you doesn't crowd her out of her seat. Most important. Have fun and cheer no matter what is happening. That kid is going to pick up her cues from you. So win or lose make it about having fun and trying hard and supporting the team.
  8. Oklahoma in 2008 (well, Missouri too, technically), but I agree with your sentiment - how are you supposed to have Top 5 wins if you don't play Top 5 teams? Little we can do to help that. Bigger point is that they purposely pick out obscured stats to make a case instead of stepping back and looking at the program as a whole. He tends to discount the accomplishment and give weight to oddities. Or he looks only at NU's history (usually just the NC run) or a small segment of other teams during a narrow window to prove how bad we suck.
  9. If memory serves me correctly the only Top 5 team we've face in the last 6 years is Texas and we lost with 1 second left that was given back incorrectly by the refs in the B12 championship game.
  10. That wasn't the reason. It was because he was told by a fan Bo was probably going to get fired in the next year. The staff is working to keep him today.
  11. I disagree, with 2003 Nebraska, Oklahoma, LSU, and 2009-2010 Nebraska as my evidence. Where Bo seems to be lacking is sharpening his players into mental and emotional consistency in preparation for playing football. I disagree, with multiple lapses on defense, 6 of 10 worst defensive performances all time, multiple blowouts, players throwing their hands up looking confused, countless numbers of times hearing of talented guys not getting time due to the mental aspect of the scheme (CJ being the latest victim), countless times where either adjustments were not made or players were not able to execute it, and a Head Coach who as of the last two years has almost seemingly said himself he doesn't know why the guys aren't executing what they are coaching. If the HC says, we are teaching them and they just aren't executing it, is that not by definition something being lost in translation somewhere? It is the definition, thats rhetorical question. I'm trying to be polite about it bud but if you want to use your positives over the last few years to counter my point, you will realize there are just as many negatives to come right back with. So a team lets the other team go 5 of 8 on third down. They surrender 628 yard of offense even though they controlled the clock 35 mins to 25 mins and allowed 5.1 yards per rush to the other team. They still won. I'm sorry that doesn't tell the whole store. This is a very good team. This team would be Bama by the way.
  12. Because Osborne didn't want to be the AD anymore Wrong. Dont you know Osborne was secretly fired so that Eichorst can be brought in as a temp for the sole purpose of firing Bo, and run off in a few years back to Wiscy when Alvarez retires? God, you need to check your sources better, man. Brb, going to check with wifi on this. You actually got a live chuckle from me.
  13. Here is the most important thing that matters. More boosters are in the Bo camp than the Harvey camp at the moment. There seems to be a few that wouldn't mind if Harv took out an early retirement.
  14. I think there is a minority of fans having that feeling and I think you're a part of that minority. No matter how hard you try to make it seem like most of us want Pelini out, it won't change the fact that he'll get at least another year here. I think that your entire comment here is so misinformed, generalized, and that it misses the target by a mile. Couldn't have said that last sentence any better....agree. Except he's partly right. We've lost a commit because of it. At least so I was told over a lunch convo.

  16. I've seen this mentioned a few times today. If this is really such a serious problem with today's athletes, why do other teams not seem to have it? Does Baylor oversign? Ohio State? Florida State? Other teams are having issues. You're looking at a small slice of those teams success. Baylor had one of the most talented QBs ever and when he got hurt the team quit and went 4-8. He came back and they still only went 10-3. Ohio State 3 years ago was in shambles because the team quit when they got shell shocked and lost the head coach. Same players more or less went undefeated last year although their schedule help them a lot. FSU plays in a crap conference. Until last year they wanted to a fire Jimbo because the payers quit on him and they went 9-4. That team quit on their great coach Bobby each of the last two years they were there. I'll even go further and bring up Texas. They usually have a top class each year. Mack Brown has been very vocal the last 3 year about his teams struggles being about players feeling entitled and giving up when things get tough. Hell look at the James kid at Texas Tech. It happens. When faced with difficulty many more time than not kids today give up that week and want a fresh start the next week. Now...I'm not stating that our players always play that way. More often than not they give their best, but even going back under Billy C they quit when things got tough and thats more often than not because mom and dad say lets find a different team rather than get your ass back in there.
  17. Whats your definition of success? I'd say he's been very successful and the potential to get better is much greater than it is to get worse. If its winning the B10 and NC every year that possibility is so remote it isn't even funny. (However the chance will be better now with a playoff.) Most people here clamor for people like Art down at Baylor. He's had as many losing seasons as winning and he's never won a conference championship or NC. Unless you choose one of about 3 or 4 coaches in the nation the guy we get isn't going to be an upgrade. Even Art on paper isn't a better coach that what we have. Yes...hes on a run. He's had runs in the past. Most coaches have also had their ass handed to them just like Bo and Art. We don't notice because we don't follow those teams as close.
  18. Welcome back, I was expecting you. Flew out right after Michigan game last Saturday night, got back Friday. I'm honestly not that upset by the Michigan St. game. I see the defense progressing finally. Offense is ho-hum, but I think the team is in a much, much better place today than we were 3 weeks ago. I think we could compete against most teams now...I didn't think that with our leaky defense and sporadic offense 6 weeks ago. Problem is, we always have this feeling this time of year. Bo does "just" enough to create hope and buy himself another year. Then next year, we'll get curb stomped a couple of times...he'll change a whole bunch of things after the season is lost and win a few late games before a final blowout in a bowl game...but it'll be enough. This is the first time a couple years I've seen a spark of improvement with the D though. Not sure if Bo took it over from JP, or if JP has taken it over from Bo...but whatever was done seems to have made a difference. I agree its been a theme the last 2 or 3 years that we stumble get our crap together and play better ball. However isn't that as much about player attitude as anything? I'm sorry but working with kids from Pee-wee up to high school there is a huge factor of not understanding what it takes to play hard and try hard as a team. TO came and spoke to our group this summer and he stated that as he ended his coaching days there were fewer and fewer kids that understood that concept and it was getting much more difficult to teach football because you were dealing with more "mental hurdles" and "family issue" from a players home. Its everywhere. I respect some place like Bama that's doing a good job of winning. I do think they would struggle if they didn't "bend" the rules on oversign each year. You don't have to find the kids who will outwork everyone else when they are just that much better as athletes. A 4 yr scholarship would change their team quickly and we'd see good teams but more 8-4 and 9-3 types because lesser talent and weaker minded players wouldn't be run off (ala Marrow).
  19. http://journalstar.com/sports/columnists/sipple/steven-m-sipple-husker-season-beginning-to-feel-like/article_83cb0f92-0cf8-5445-bba2-10e96b49c1d2.html This column has a portion in it where Sip talks about a Bo hater coming to him after the game with a big grin and firm happy handshake because he thinks this loss is enough to get him fired. I'm sorry but what bothers me most is the fact that people like that guy call themselves a fan. You should never be happy for someone else to fail. Even when BC was here tanking nearly every record we have, "flipping our culture" and more or less killing our sense of self that was Nebraska football I never wanted to the team to lose. I thought there needed to be changes, but I was never happy with anyone being nasty toward a coach, their family or a player. And I was always hurt when we lost. This type of guy needs to be told to find another team to root for in my opinion. Even if he thinks Bo should be let go you still don't root for this type of an outcome. And I don't know how you could not look at that game and not feel like this was a heart breaking loss (like many of other coaches across the country this year) based on a lot of bad luck with turnovers and had very little do with coaching issues. I had problems with about 4 or 5 plays and calls on offense and defense. The effort was there. The teams cares and plays hard. That's what you look for. The team that beat us this week (MSU) was revered for this type of play the last two years and now look at the reward. It might not happen with our team but its much more likely than hitting the reset. Even Shitel made mention that this teams future is bright and that guy is better suited to judge a hot dog eating contest that actually know anything about a football team anymore.
  20. I'm going to stop reading this thread right after your post because you've stated just about everything anyone needs to know. The fact is 20% of the fan base will love the coach no matter who it its. 20% will hate the coach no matter who it is. 10% will be pretty objective about stuff much like you've done here and 10% and 50% isn't really smart enough to know what they should really believe and just seem to follow which ever crowd the media is supporting. Anything anyone else writes is probably going to piss me off.
  21. Is it too late to get into the di$k measuring contest? Cause if I spend a few minutes on pornhub I can give that Asian guy from The Hangover a real run for his money.
  22. http://sports.omaha.com/2013/11/14/discussion-pelini-and-nebraska-recruiting-is-bo-on-the-hot-seat/#.UoZUf3BwoVA I thought this exchange would be embarrassing if your the OWH trying to tell everyone you're objective and don't have an agenda against Bo or that you didnt hire consultants to tell you to go negative to get more readers. (Which they've said and is BS) You have a national guy answering the questions and in direct contradiction of what you're trying to spout about how recruiting to NU is easy. But you keep having Dork hammer home BS until the national guy who has better things to do say "whatever" more or less and moves on. I appreciated the objectivity of Staples. He gave both good and bad but at least gives weight to the notion that this job here is tougher than many others you try to compare NU to when it comes to recruiting.
  23. Did you not watch the 1996 Arizona State game where we got SHUT OUT? Better not look at several of TO's games against Oklahoma either back in the day. Or several bowl games he coached in. Fact is most people only remember that 4 years before he retired and they think thats how it always was.
  24. Sumlin to Nebraska. Where do people get this crap?

    1. EZ-E

      EZ-E

Same people that thought TO stopped by to talk to Chris Peterson about the job at NU after UCLA in 2012 even though it wasn't open.

  25. I still don't think Cotton plays or if he does it won't be much. I would add that Ameer is injured but playing much like Bell. QE is also slowed.
