  1. Not as much with the new collective bargaining agreement and rookie salary scale in the NFL. The big payday comes on their first free agent contract. A RB has to make it there, though.... My original point was, these kids feel invincible, and stories like this one won't make a kid go to their coach and ask for 10 carries a game taken off their workload....
  2. That's the point - they all want the ball more. Nothing special about it. They (and the staff) need to worry more about quality over quantity. Yard per carry, over yards per game. And it will become an even bigger issue for backs as teams continue to increase the offensive tempo. That was my point as well.... They do all want the ball, but I think Ameer is a little different than most (has some Rex in him). Is it best for him in the long run to get so many carries? Probably not, but good luck getting the ball out of this kid's hands.... It's not his decision. Beck's calling the plays, Brown is make the calls as to who is in there, etc. If it weren't for injuries, Rex would be heading into the NFL with 800-900+ carries, 300-400 more than some of these other backs getting picked ahead of him. That's the equivalent of 2 years of wear and tear more. If you are Newby/Taylor, or Heard/Aaron Green...you need to be looking at is as though you're are prolonging your income potential in the NFL for multiple years. Splitting carries makes you millions, it doesn't cost you millions. (It could in draft positioning).... I see your point but it is alos Beck's job to make sure this offense is at it's best, and if you need Ameer on the field to do that, then that is what he will do as long as he is healthy...
  3. My brother and I played a few sports in HS; he was a year younger than me. He went out for the soccer team mostly because I was playing. He was not great and rarely saw the field my Senior year. I have played in some big HS and college basketball games in my life, but some of my fondest memories are HS soccer practices and games on the same team with my brother. I can't even imagine the feeling to get to play with your brother at Nebraska. Really cool experience for Taylor, Drake, and the entire Martinez family. GO BIG RED! So you're saying your brother was a horrible athlete?

  5. You're just trying to be different I would say Drake, but since he has been chosen multiple times, I'll go with Gladney.... After watching his film I believe that he will be an elite WR for us when he gets his turn on the field....
  6. Good for the family, it has to be exciting for them.... Good for HuskerNation as well!!
  7. Interesting article Ameer should take note of. He is a special competitor. I don't think this article would change his position at all, he wants the ball everytime, like Rex....
  8. Ohio St. has offered? Fantastic...
  9. It is really hard to have respect for Marrow after the last month of recruiting.... One would be naive to think that it is coincidental that Kentucky is after all our recruits all of a sudden....
  10. Great topic, being an out of stater, I am curious as well....
  11. I would too, if it were spelled j-i-f.... Seeing how the letters are g-i-f, and the letter g is sounded out as "jee", it's not much of a stretch to see the reasoning. Just messing with Landlord.... i can see it....
  12. I don't see many Nebraska born/raised kids saying that.... I know I wouldn't....
  13. I would too, if it were spelled j-i-f....
  14. If they want him, they get him.... I'm so tired of this; we need too start winning some conference championships, and BCS bowls so we have the same intrigue that the LSU's of the world have.....
  15. The whole state.... I cant be nominated if this was targeted at me. I was too good at CB and the coach(Knappy-slappy) wants me to switch to add depth elsewhere.... Knappy Roots....
  16. Really? Oh...wait...why do we have so much attention in our athletic department on academics? How exactly did we get so many academic all Americans? It is almost like he is trying to convince himself....
  17. What was the other good news from twitter? The OP in this thread. I see....
  18. I don't disagree with O'Hanlon's inclusion in this list, but it's funny to see after he was ripped to shreds - exceedingly harshly by some - early in the 2009 season. I never agreed with the grief he got, and I never respected the choice people made to rip on a player like that. O'Hanlon wasn't the greatest athlete to play in the secondary for Nebraska, but you won't find a kid with more heart, and you won't find a kid it meant more to throughout Nebraska's long and gloried past. History remembers O'Hanlon better today than when he was playing, and he deserves that. He did not deserve the vilification he received from some fans. Couldn't agree more, I never understood the complaints. He kind of got lost in the shuffle, when we had the likes of Asante, Hagg, Gomes, Amukamara, and Dennard playing around him, but how much would we all want him now? If Huskerville could, they would welcome him back now with open arms.... As for the list.... 1. Ralph Brown 2-5 Mike Brown, Amukamara, Minter, Washington, Dennard.... They could all squeeze into that top 5 list somewhere. I would also throw Hagg's name into that list for top 5 contention.... His role was a difficult one, and he filled it about as well as you possibly can.... Hagg was one of the more versatile athletes we've had at NU....
  19. http://www.hudl.com/...lights/27081373 I know it has been posted in the thread already, but I just watched his highlight again, and Wow! I see a lot of posters complaining about not having that big time DT commit, but I think this guy is it.... I agree we need more depth, but this kid explodes of the ball, and he has great speed for his size.... Hopefully we can keep him from Missouri, because he looks the part at the very least....
  20. The kid seems to have great hand placement, and keeps fighting throughout a play. Even his H.S. team had him at DE, so I can't imagine him playing anything else but that in college unless he bulked up. Get him N!!
