  1. Physical player. Plays hard. Tough. Well coached.
  2. I would be very happy with Beisel, Ramirez and Banderas as our LB recruits.
  3. Looks very disciplined & tough. Good speed as a ILB. Would be a good get.
  4. I hope they offer him at the spring game. The guy has a great frame and great feet. He's got a lot of room to put weight on and I think he will very easily. He would be great as an HB/TE. Defensively, I think his best position would be one that he would grow into and that's RE.
  5. Sign him up. Looks like a great player and we need tackles.
  6. They have a lot of space this year, best bet is to get him now, and worry about any maturity issues if they crop up. We need to keep D1 players in state whenever we can. They can always take it away if he doesnt keep his nose clean. This is true, but Mike is the closest thing to a lock we will see this cycle. He wanted to commit, said so last week he probably would. I think this is good for him actually. Show the staff his head is on right and by the time the Spring Game rolls around he's N. The staff may take it before who knows. Mike is still only 16 I believe, so without his Sr around all the time to keep him in line, I believe this will only help. And sorry, no I will not go into details I think this is a very fair approach with this conditional offer. If there is some concern with maturity establishing ground rules is a great approach. It's good for these kids to have goals & motivation and to communicate the expectations.
  7. Reminds me of TJ Johnson. Pretty good player for the Huskers.
  8. Well, that's a nice story and all, but Dave Van Horn was already an established and successful head coach before we brought him here. sh#t, if we had bothered to look outside Haymarket Park for our next head coach, I'd be quite a bit less apprehensive about this hire. It's the complete lack of anything close to experience that has and will bother me until Erstad has CLEARLY shown he knows what the hell he's doing. Yes we have a nice staff, but in the end it comes down to the head coach. Having said that, I haven't "written off the season" as I already said earlier, but don't expect me to just shrug and spout the usual "I trust the coaches" nonsense, because I DON'T trust the coaches. Fair enough. I will say that Erstad has said all the right things so far. He sounds like he knows what he is doing. I think a leader can be successful if he surrounds himself with the right people and let them do their jobs, so we will have to agree to disagree.
  9. I think Marshall would be a very good possibility. Marshall, Brad Stevens and Pastner would be the guys on my short list.
  10. whoa whoa whoa! what? the season isn't over?! don't tell gumbercules Look, I have zero confidence in Erstad because I think it was a terrible idea to hire someone who had NEVER been a paid coach simply because he was an ex-husker and an ex-major leaguer. You apparently think differently. That's fine, whatever. I hope I'm wrong. For the record, we made numerous fundamental mistakes, mistakes the other team didn't make. You wanna give them a pass for that be my guest, I'll choose to see if this becomes a habit. I didn't expect much from this series, as I said earlier I expect us to get swept and will be pleasantly surprised if we win one, but last night's performance (especially defensively) was actually worse than I expected. Maybe I'm willing to give him a pass just because he inherited a team that sucked to begin with? So if we're as bad or worse than last year, are you still giving him a pass? How big a pass does he get? How big of a pass does he get? Well I seem to remember a new coach whose team got swept in their first series and they finished the season 24-20. It was a struggle but the foundation was laid. The next year the coaches brought in some kids that fit what they were trying to do and the returning players learned what the coaches wanted and they did better. The 2nd year they made a regional. One of the new recruits that was brought in was a kid by the name of Bolt. Coach was Dave Van Horn. Coach Erstad has a great staff and he is willing to rely on them. It's a team effort They will be successful as long as they can recruit. Recruiting and scouting is the key for this staff. So give it a couple of years.
  11. Getting that much crap in my mailbox in 1 day from the same institution would tick me off. Having to sort through the crap to find the real mail would be a pain. Really have to wonder what kind of dribble they would put in the letters to make them different. Waste of time to open them up and read them I bet. Would get old fast.
  12. Pro sports = pain killers. I don't know the situation here, so I am not saying this is what they are doing but in general they just shoot them up. Jason Peter probably could tell you some stories.... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7243606/nfl-players-tony-romo-ronde-barber-rely-new-painkiller-toradol
  13. whoa whoa whoa! what? the season isn't over?! don't tell gumbercules lol... there are 55 games + left. i think we will get a feel of how this team is going to stand up against the competition over the coming weeks +1.
  14. Amazing! Even this thread getting geared towards "its Taylor's fault"... That's not the point I was trying to make. Let me put it this way.....I thought Green had 2 or 3 plays that could of been big plays. Perhaps he would of got more time if the team could of executed those types of plays more consistently. Unfortunately they are still working on the timing and execution of some of those plays.
  15. the biggest adjustment will be all these new faces playing together and finding a leader on the defense.....big challenge. That's a good point and something I haven't thought about. Not sure who the leader will be in the secondary.
  16. I am happy we left. There were issues with how the B12 was run and there was further evidence of that after Nebraska left. I do miss playing the B8 teams but I enjoy playing the B1G teams. I enjoy the equal coverage that they do on the teams. nm
  17. I thought Rex got a little tired in some of those games and he would be better if he got spelled. I agree with some others that this staff could do a better job of subbing in their younger players. Green was kind of snake bit last year. There were several times where he could of had the corner on the pitch or was wide open but Taylor held onto the ball too long and didn't see him.
  18. Would be an awesome recruit. Hope Reed & Cotton stay healthy and have a big year this year so he knows how well we use the TE's.
  19. This is my favorite back so far. Good feet, size, speed, balance, can make the first guy miss. Has a nice stiff arm. Appears to have decent hands.
  20. Another consideration is that you potentially could have 5-6 scholarships open next year to fill. The following year you will have at most 2. If they were to replace Doc after this season then the new coach could recruit those new players, otherwise if you wait one more year than that coach will have only 1 or 2 scholarships to offer unless there is attrition. Getting tougher for coaches to run kids off.
  21. Unfortunately, I think Doc has lost some of his players. I think he knows this and I think his post game comments are a reflection of him sticking up for them. I also think he probably has told them to try and have fun and not put pressure on themselves. Wish he would play the younger players more to develop them.
  22. We will have Long, Sutton and Cotton. We are thin there and will need to sign some TE's. I wish Pirmann was a TE. I think he would be a great TE. I think KC Hyland should add 20 lbs and move to TE or hback. He would be great there as a receiver. Maybe have Marrow or Cross play some Hback. I don't have any problem with 23 OL guys. I think only 15-16 are scholarships guys so that about right. I am all for recruiting a bunch of Walkon OL's. Build them up, develop them, have them learn the system. You need 7-8 guys to play the scout squad so it takes a lot of lineman.
