  1. Personally, I think most NFL coaches have trouble because at the college level you are required to teach and develop. College kids can't do some of the things that Pros can do because they just don't have the time to learn it all and they don't have the experience, so you have to be careful not to overload them or ask them to do too much. They have to be fundamental sound. For instance you can learn a lot of different techniques and that's great but first you have to learn plays and how your schemes work. And I would say not to confuse technique with base fundamentals. That's why I think Coach Sanders was a good college coach. Make sure the kids know their fundamentals and assignments first and have them play physical and fast. When the player has that master than you throw in tips on different things you can do. Just my opinion. They also have to recruit. I think Carroll did well because of 'how' he recruited and related to kids.
  2. I like this guy. Would be a good get. I think he is the 2nd coming of Stew with a bit of Carlos.
  3. Oline made improvement and is one of the top 3 or 4 lines in the B1G. Good talent on the squad. Recruiting is good. Consistency will be better next year as they will be in year 2 under Beck's offense. Qb is that much more experienced. Cotton & Garrison have had a year to work together so they will be more efficient next year. OL is not the place to mess with, they have other issues that they need to focus their attention on rather than creating more work.
  4. I thought Ankrah had his best game of the year. Still a ways to go but was a factor in a couple of plays. Green did well. I agree with game ball to David.
  5. Good win today and the weather was good. Crowd was good. I would be surprised if we didn't get some commits this weekend.
  6. There are things that I think that Carl is better at than Bo in regards to head coaching skills. I think Carl is better with the media. He strikes me as a little more even tempered. I don't think he is as good as Bo as far as X's and O's. He a very very fine DL coach. Have no idea on how good a head coach he would be. I think a lot of it depends on the staff you hire.
  7. You reap what you sew. Suh has no one to blame but himself and he's clearly sliding down that slope.
  8. I would take 10-3 because that means we win the last 2 games.
  9. If we were to lose Carl, I would like to bring in Doug Coleman or maybe bring back Marvin if they could. Have Marvin be co-DC with Bo and coach safties. Coach Raymond can do corners. If it were Coleman he could coach the interior DLine & JP can do RE's.
  10. Looks like a tough runner. Good balance & keeps his feet going. Very nice to get this guy to walk on.
  11. The way he did it reminded me of a friend and his dog. Point at the dog, the dog falls over. Wonder if the guy got a doggy treat. I lost some respect for Michigan on that.
  12. +1 about the LBers! For sure, after Compton and David they don't have much, and with David being a senior, that position group could really be hurting next year. last years class had what, two LB's? David Santos is a talented kid, and they also got Max Pirman. When I was coaching in Ohio the last couple of years I got to see Pirman play in person and wasn't overly impressed, good athlete, and big kid, but he missed a lot of time throughout high school because of injures. He wasn't really physical, but has all the tools athletically... I hope they move Pirman to TE.
  13. One thing about Coach J.P. He has a lot on his plate. He's got the entire DL, Special teams and recruiting coordinator. I would prefer if he were to give up either Special teams or recruiting coordinator just because that is a lot to do. I think Coach Els could be the Special teams guy if they were to shift that.
  14. Man was I way off base. Good lord they look bad today.
  15. Under. Agree with poster above. I am going to guess 13 attempts. I am anticipating that Tmart will have a lot of carries and have big yards as holes will be open in the zone read and loaded option. Three-Fresh will get 5-10 snaps each.
  16. Bottom line ----- I don't care who they give them to as long as the defense plays like a top 10 defense. The tradition IMO is about blackshirt defense not about blackshirt players. If they need 21 players to play top 10 defense then give them all a blackshirt. That's my opinion.
  17. I went with NWU. Their type of qb gives us trouble. Nebraska wins 42-28
  18. I think A&M's move to the SEC helps their recruiting as well as their finances which will help them keep up with the Joneses. I think Texas recruiting is going to drop off a little because the b12-2-1+1-1+1 stinks. TCU recruiting will pick up slightly as well which also will have a slight impact on Texas recruiting. I think A&M can be like a Georgia/Arkansas type team in the SEC.
  19. 1) To me Michigan is a tough matchup for Nebraska due to Robinson. I think we can exploit the edges on Michigan when we are on offense. I look for our RB corp to have a big game. I want to see sweeps, diamond and reverses. It will come down to who scores last & turnovers. 2) Penn State has the best D of the teams we have left. Their running game is getting better and settling on a game managing qb has helped PSU. I think it will be a game similar to MSU in score or lower. We need to concentrate on stopping the run and forcing them to pass. Blitz the heck out of the Qb if we can get them to be 1-dimentional. 3) Iowa probably is the most balanced/sound. They don't have a lot of game breakers but they are tough. McNutt & Coker is their offense. I'd say play it like MSU but Iowa would grind it out then, so I think we have to mix it up. Double McNutt but press the other wr's. Blitz their QB. That stand up rush might work pretty good. Got to stop Coker. 4) NWU has a tough offense for us but their defense is so bad that I think we will outscore them by a couple of TD's. As long as we don't turn over the ball and get stupid penalties, they should be okay. I am thinking this will have a huge over. I wonder if TMart will have 200 yds rushing..
  20. I was thinking Thorell was playing nickel & dime yesterday, but in reading the paper they were saying he was playing slb, which pretty much means he was the peso. So it was peso&dime. I think we will see a lot of peso&dime next week.
