  1. I would prefer collapsing the pocket on him rather than flushing him out. Flushing him out is where he is most dangerous.
  2. Isn't there another Freshman I-Back Redshirting from Texas that is suppose to be better than Burkhead. I believe his H.S. Team #1 in the Nation for most of the season.
  3. The odd makers set the spread at what they believe will get a split in bets 50/50. Has nothing to do with how much better one team is. The spread adjusts to the betting throughout the week.
  4. Never will work. Never has in the past and won't in the future. Some of us were around when a Red Out was every saturday. No need to announce it, it was just part of the Nebraska Culture.
  5. If you get a link please email me. I don't have any place to watch the game. kevinmenefee@yahoo.com Thanks
  6. The Posts are wider apart in College. It is a much easier Kick to make than it is in the NFL because of this.
  7. Before clownahan I don't remember a game when we sat down and I'm glad we are actually standing again. That is part of getting into the game and if you don't want to stand up, watch the game from your couch So blocking the view of some Kid or Elderly person is OK, because you need to stand to get in to the game? They paid for a seat. Seats are made to sit in. Why don't you stand in front of your TV rather than be disrespectful to those who can't stand? In the 80's, there wasn't a standing situation Yes there was, there was no message boards back then to complain about it, other then the in the stands comment section of the Omaha World Herald. Quite a few times, I've heard the comment sit down by some blue hair back then. None stood where I sat in the 80's and that includes Games like the #1 vs #2 Oklahoma Game of the Century II. I was in the south end zone for that one. In the Student section, yes there was standing.

  9. Why do you need to stand to Yell? If they can't see, be respectful and sit down. And go ahead and yell your head off. Age doesn't matter. It could be a 9 year old kid that stands 4 feet tall. He could stand all game and still never see a single play. Fans Standing doesn't intimidate players....especially D-I Athletes. Being loud can disrupt communications.
  10. Gill had a better Arm than Frazier. Frazier Had a Much Better Defense. That was the differance between the 9/10 win Teams and the National Championships. Gill had a better #1 Reciever Frazier had more Depth at I-Back with Phillips and Green. Gill had Rozier but nothing close after that.
  11. I wouldn't call it landmark win. It proves Bo is heading in the right direction. The Team is now going to a Bowl which is important. Bo proved he can get his team to bounce back after a crushing defeat. Add in playing V-Tech and T-Tech to the wire and it shows a ton of improvement over last season. I think the Team is getting better, players are developing skills. Maybe not as fast as we would like as fans but the steady improvement is there. What I think is lacking is consistance. This Team when on can play with anyone but until they can play at or near their best for 4 quarters week in and week out against Quality Teams, the order will not be restored.
  12. When I was there. I went to a game that was about 6 degrees out. Watched the entire game. Than had to go work off about 6 pounds for our wrestling match the next day. Hate to break the news to you but the Alumni had Tests and Exams too and still filled their seats every saturday.
  13. Callahan didn't recruit much defense. Look at how many Blue Chip RBs he brought in and compare it to how many Blue Chip LBs he went after. You also need to look at how many Juco's Callahan went after. Add on the fact that he spent most his practice time working on X's & O's rather than developing fundamental skills.
  14. Callahan didn't get the Blasting he deserved in his first season or any of his season for that matter. And he ended how many streaks?
  15. I was not counted a few times as I entered through the old athletic offices with a sideline pass. This was late 80's. Twice was against OU. One was the Game of the Century II and the other was the year OU was on Probation and the game wasn't on TV.
  16. I haven't forgot about Mendoza, I think he will be to the running game, what Swift is to our passing game. Looking forward to watching him next year. I think the coaches will be hard pressed, not to get him a lot of playing time. IMHO GBR!!! I think they have 7 I-Backs on the Roster. Plus any incoming Freshman. They could move him to LB and gain some needed depth. I think he could start at LB next season. I don't know about him being able to start, I think you are under estimating players on the roster. Not to mention if they sign the current verbal commits. Sean Fisher and Will Compton will be a dynamic duo. He was a wrescking machine at LB in H.S. I think the only way Callahan was able to sign him was to be a I-Back. But he was far better at LB in H.S. from what my Brother claims and he coached against him.

  18. Huskers did run some spread in Osbornes final few seasons. They option out of it a good bit.
  19. With that much time left, 99% of coaches would take the points. It was a great call, obviously planned earlier since the field goal team came on the field so quickly. Great call... And 99.99% of coaches would have punted 4th and 4 on their own 35(?) if your refering to tech, that wasn't supposed to happen, they were trying to get us to jump offsides, but harrel, to his credit saw something he looked and changed plans. The 4th and 4 was suppose to try and get an offsides. A NU Lineman jumped but got back. The Center snap the ball but was too slow to get the Offsides. Leach was studdering when asked about it. Harrel admitted that it was only to get NU to Jump. The ball was snap and Harrel saw Crabtree run past the NU secondary wide open. Harrel didn't see anything before the snap to change things up and never change anything at the line. So the Center never would have known.
  20. Improved - Maybe Tex Tech over rated - Maybe Probably a little of both.
  21. Vegas spread has nothing to do with what the odds makers think will happen in the game. The goal of the Casino is to set a spread that will get equal amount of bets for both teams. As the betting starts to favor one side, they adjust the spread to get bets for the other team. This is how they make guaranteed money. The basics of it is an example like this. You want to bet on the Huskers and your buddy wants to bet on TT. You each give me $100 to hold. So I have $200 total from the wagers. After the game I give the winner $190. I pocket $10 for my booking fees.
  22. They practice against the Offense they will be seeing each week. It is called a Scout Team. Made up mostly of Redshirts.

I agree Helu seems like he has more of a spark and when he gets the ball he has the ability to make a big play. I do not think in Big 12 play or against decent opponets that Marlon Lucky has that ability running the football. Catching the ball lucky is very very talented. I would like to see Helu with a good O-line though because he is special. I agree in splitting Marlon out wide his hands are that good and it would shake things up for another defense and you may have the chance that he would be covered by a linebacker if he and a Roy Helu are on the field at the same time. There is no element of surprise this year. I want to see Helu get a toss or something and take it and get to the edge and make things happen. The blocking on the premiter by the WRS is very good this year. There is no reason Helu does not get more carries. Good Running Backs tend to get Stronger as the game goes on. They get in to a rythem with the OL and the speed of the game that day. But with out a good OL, unless you find Barry Sanders clone, you can't get much going.
  24. His problem is that the fight that put him on the bench for the start of last season wasn't his first. It was the first that got him a lot of bad press is all. Than there was the fact he was only on the field for half the snaps. He didn't see the ball enough, especialy his JR season.
